      Can anybody help me? What does 0.25% topical fin 100 ul (0.025%) mean? I got my doctor to subscribe a 0.025% top. fin solution- isnt that too low now- should it be 0.25% and then 1ml is 0.025%? im confused....

    • @mithlajrahman1310
      @mithlajrahman1310 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hy Tom, I think your doctor is probably pulling you more towards the safest side. According to the studies conducted based on the dosages even .005% is still effective in bringing down the scalp dht without even affecting the serum dht when used upto 2ml a day. .025% is an effective dose (when used at 1ml once a day) that can give you the best possible if not the greatest results with no huge alterations to your hormones. Keep in mind I am not a doctor or researcher.

    I was having serious libido issues with 1mg of Fin orally a day from Keeps for a month. I got my hair back so I tried every other day but my libido was still crap after 2 months. I’m doing once a week now for 7 months and my libido is solid and no hair loss regression.
    I suggest if the side affects are bad then lower the dosage. Fin stays in your system and keeps blocking DHT for a month so we don’t really need much. Just enough to keep it away from the scalp.
    1st month- 1 a day
    2nd month- 1 every other day
    3rd month & moving forward- 1 a week
    Monoxidil 2x a day

    When I started topical I was a Norwood 3 moving towards a 4. Six months later I have people complimenting my hair,, and am now a stable and improving Norwood 2…. A childhood friend commented the other day… “who has hair like this over 50?” People are noticing….my stylist was even left scratching her head. She told me that when she started cutting my hair, I was balding and now I’m not! She is freaked out! She said she doesn’t understand how that is possible! Lol .I did not tell her about my treatment but instead gave her the credit since she started cutting my hair about 2 months prior to starting topical. I told her my old barber was the cause and her style of cutting must be the reason my hair improved….She bought it! 😎 The stuff works .

    Important Question ⁉ Do those topical Finasteride products have Titanium Dioxide (E171) in them? Because that ingredient is widely used and unfortunately it is highly cancerogenic and stays in human body. Hair is important, but cancer is a bigger problem. Matt, looking forward to the update on this. I got sides from oral finasteride, even at small doses. Currently trying topical, got sides at 0.05%. Much less sides than oral, but still there. My hair feels really thick though. I am going to try applying only 3X week and also ordered a lower dose. It does seem to work well with much lower sides. Seeing if I can find the balance. I am on topical finasteride same dosages as Matt and it seems to be working very well. I don’t have any side effects the same as I did with oral. I think even topically some of it goes systematically but much less and I haven’t noticed any side effects thus far. Listen to your body. I know some people say side effects are in your head but you’ve been living with your body your whole life so you’ll know. I haven't found any reliable source of information about the "risks" of exposing members of your family (kids, partner) to finasteride when using the topical version. Do you have any recommendations on this? Are the risks real and, if yes, are there good strategies to avoid those? I'm not trying to have kids anymore (so I don't think there's a big issue using topical fin if my wife is around). I'm really bad at these conversion calculations:
    So if the HIMS solution has .3% 90ml, 1ml dosage.
    How much should I mix with a minox solution into a 60ml container to get to that sweet spot? With the intent to use 1ml daily.

    • @travismcneil7628
      @travismcneil7628 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I ran into that as well. Hims is 0.3% per 1ml which is around 3mg of a pill version.
      I took 5ml out a regular 60ml minoxidil bottle, then replaced it with 5ml of the HIMS fin min solution. After that, I shook the bottle up. If my math is correct, this would be equivalent to around 0.025% Finasteride.

  • @Dankforth
    @Dankforth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Matt the problem with this study is that they only measured systemic DHT suppression with 1 week of use. As shown in all other studies of topical finasteride, if you continue to use it for months and months, you end up having similar systemic suppression of DHT as you would from oral finasteride (minus the convenience of taking a medication orally vs topically).
    Also it really doesn't seem to make a difference what the concentration of finasteride is whether it's topical or oral, the only difference is that with lower concentrations of fin, it will take a longer period of time for the drug to reach a certain saturation point to lower DHT equally as much as 1mg oral Propecia would.

      Correct. I take oral finasteride 1.25 mg three times per week and the only side effect I've gotten was increased libido. Topical finasteride takes a lot longer to apply and you run the risk of uneven concentrations and mis-dosing. Also it's way more expensive.

    I would not recommend mixing topical finasteride at home. Because it would be very difficult to accurately mix the tablets in an alcohol solution at home to achieve consistent concentration and even distribution of finasteride. We're talking about 0.005% to 0.02% concentrations. Chances are you're going to have inconsistent amount of finasteride in each ml that you apply.
    Solution (no pun intended): reach out to your local pharmacy. Or better yet, find a compounding pharmacy where they have resources and equipment to make a legit and accurate topical solution.

    After 5 years on Dutasteride (half dosing at 0.25 /day), my hair loss completely stopped. Regrew tons of hair, SUPER happy about it. Good story right? Well....no.
    I had mild sides when I started (cramping and gas in my intestines) that progressively have gotten worse. I know its the Duta because I stopped it twice and the sides went away completely in 1 month....then returned when I resumed. Same thing with finasteride except they went away after 1 week. I told my doctor and she says shes never heard of it...but hey, I dunno what to say.
    I hoped by quitting and resuming, I could "reset" the sides but they climb up back to the full effects faster and faster. Damnit. Now its so damn bad that I literally immediately cramp up when hitting the gym (sit ups). The gas in my intestines causes spasming until the small muscles in my abs seize up.
    This may be a solution for me. Im going to try and get topical to see if I can keep the gains (or even get more, since its more localized?) and get rid of the bloody gas the pills give me.
    Thanks Matt.
