Ordered an S23 FE and also a Pixel 7a for my wife and myself, when they were on Black Friday sale at BB. Being the responsible husband I am, I had to set them up myself right now, "just to make sure they worked properly." It is a very tough decision to say which is preferable. My outcome was the FE for glass screen durability, and video sound quality. The 7a for audio volume on streaming. Side by side on Verizon Home 5G I could not determine which booted up or loaded apps faster. That depends on the app mostly it seemed. But a biggie for me...I do not like the frame around the S23...too heavy and cheap feeling, esp. if you add even the thinnest clear case. EDIT : My son adds he prefers Pixels because they can be "rooted" for more control, what that means...lol.
