Lots of live ammo of various calibers at this location, some just below the surface. I am surprised it is still just laying there. That mortar shell base looked like it had a faint 44 date on it. That barbed wire in the tree was strange and looked more modern than the pieces of wire I have seen you have shown us from the war. I can't get over the variety of pieces you discovered at this airfield. It makes me think that at the end of the war there must have been a lot of items just scattered about. Thanks for taking us along!
I know , so crazy and who knows what more could be out there at this long forgotten place. There were a few hours of wild war there at the end of WW2 when the Soviets thundered through. Thanks for being here my friend :)
Hi guys, hope you & EE are doing ok. Interesting finds there those yrs ago.. shows how much stuff is still out there even after all those yrs, including the live stuff…you’d have to be super careful with the shovel on excavation..well done though, I loved it. Take care and good health to you both! Jon
Another great exploration history hunter thanks for sharing it I can't wait to see what you guys share next I hope all is well with you and your history hunting family
Some really good finds in this metal detecting. The 26 on the bottom of the Russian mortar shell is most likely the factory number where it was made, and yes, that really did look like the mirror from a Kubelwagen that you found. So that was a great find. The metal post with the red reflectors on it, may have been part of either the approach, or runway ends, lighting system for the airfield. Possibly Post-War. Really quite scary seeing all that unexploded ordnance still in the ground after all these years. Something to be very carefull of. Cheers to you all! Stay Safe!
Pretty nice. I figured this was from years ago. Totally enjoy the metal detecting(as well as the magnet). Always enjoy when you find whatever; it is history!!! You just never know what you will find. Thanks for "digging" this one up from ago. Enjoy them.
G'Day HH wow mate you smashed that area with your detector and no EE too a bit scary with the unused ammo especially those artillery pieces you left in the ground, great video mateplease stay safe.
Thanks for metal detecting these areas as much as possible for somebody may set a round off that hasn't in the 1st place. Even though its been there for decades, it's still active, & all the other pieces that pollute the ground water. War is a horrible thing & keeps on destroying lives long after it is over with. Some great finds - thanks for posting your adventure.
Another great video, HH. Are there any images of the airfield before it was overrun? The 20mm case was 1939, the P120 is part of the Waffenant mark, Dynamit AG, Hannover-Empelde (Ni), 1937-1939. Love the new gloves. Take care stay safe and well.
I don’t know what I would do if you stopped making these videos. I enjoy them so much. If you stopped doing this I would probably have to watch a video of a sleeping cat lol. I have come to believe that where ever to go in Europe you will find the footprints of Hitler’s military. I really enjoy seeing everything you find no matter how insignificant it may seem. History is everywhere.
I appreciate so much your fantastic support during the year Anthony. A honor and pleasure to know you have been right behind our backs out there for so long. Thank you my good friend and take care out there :)
The Germans also used a 120mm mortar that they captured from the Russians. They liked it so much they copied it, produced it and used it for themselves. The mortar picture would almost look the same in Russian or German service.
Must have been a very long time ago because I've never seen it. 😊. I would love to spend time on a Luftwaffe airfield not so much to find things but to mentally bring it back to life. Stay safe n happy freind.
I live in Bridlington East Yorkshire last year across from where I live workman found a German unexploded bomb from the Second World War they exploded the bomb on the beach
Every small piece, even of shrapnel , tells a story. History, as you say, is everywhere. Thankyou again for sharing !
Yes Stephen , totally so and this location is so small but tells it`s story so well. Loved it and thanks from us :)
Hi HH & EE,
8:20 is a pressure gauge, like a barometer
A nice collection of parts you have found.
Good to know and thanks for watching.
Amazing that there is so much to find. Proof of active combat zone. Many things get dropped in the confusion.
yes tons of stuff going on there. Thanks for watching.

Could very well be actually. We later found out that it was indeed from a Kubelwagen. Loved it and thanks so much my friend :)

Awesome finds there, HH! I've always wondered how dangerous the old bombs could be...not that I would touch one!😊❤️
Loved it and thanks so much Cynthia :)

Not that I know of and it was just a small location. Great explore and glad could share it with you :) Thanks and be safe out there :)
Nice little explore, the last piece I could tell was some kind of mirror but couldn't place it. Thank you for the history lesson.
The last piece was actually from a German Kubelwagen og how cool is that :) More to come and thanks Allen :)

my first find was east of Hanau , it was a assault rife in a bomb crater wood was gone had four rounds in it .
The Germans also used a 120mm mortar that they captured from the Russians. They liked it so much they copied it, produced it and used it for themselves. The mortar picture would almost look the same in Russian or German service.
Cool to now and thanks my friend for being here :)
Pretty cool old skool back to the future!
There you go and loved it my friend. Hope all is well and you are smiling to life :) Thanks from us and be safe out there :)
