I'm actually pretty surprised how deep and inventive Metal Slug Tactics is. The dodge and adrenaline mechanics totally change the way the genre plays, plus it's got that semi-roguelite structure to it that I didn't expect at all. The way they incorporated vehicles and bosses totally works too.
A handheld that plays Xbox Games will be a good seller for them. Having Game Pass on a portable would be a huge selling point. I also firmly believe Nintendos Switch 2 will not do as well because of hand held competition. Switch for a long time enjoyed being the only hand held before the Steam Deck came a long. Now they got to compete against Xbox Hand Held, Steam Deck, and multiple other PC hand held gaming machines.
For the Xbox Handheld, i dont think they need to "convince" anyone whys its a better choice than the Rog or Legion... It's an Xbox on the go... That's a big enough selling point for Xbox fans.
Even with their revised, lower projections, I don't think Nintendo will still 12.5 million Switch units. That would mean they need to sell another 7 - 8 million by the end of February. Holiday sales will help, but each of the last 2 holidays have seen sales decline, so this will certainly be the 3rd. I predict they will sell another 4.5 - 5.5 million units this fiscal year. The only people still buying are parents with younger, 1st time gamer kids. Everyone else is waiting for Switch 2 or already owns one.
Probable. Depends on how much they will push marketing and how much they will lower the price. At this point for them they might sell it below production cost for two reasons - first to do everything to reach status of one of the best selling consoles (looks nice for investors), secondly to hook as many people as possible on their hardware. Nintendo games not very often drop in price so a customer buying hardware most probably will buy at least a few of Nintendo top rated games, play them and there is a possibility they might be Nintendo hardware in the future. We will see how it goes.
@mravg79 My rationale is that holiday quarter 2022 they sold 5.83 million units, then holiday 2023 they sold 4.87 million units. There's almost no way that it'll somehow go up in sales in its 8th holiday season on the market. Now they may get to 10 million total for the year, but there really isn't much incentive for educated buyers to invest in a Switch right now.
