I love O'hare because he's the only with razonament in the entire place, the rest of people just became pro-trees out of nothing in a matter of seconds, but he stayed the same every time, just like, I don't know, a normal person would do if someone comes and tries to destroy all you know and gave you money
Ironically, O'Hare could just switch his business from selling air to selling trees. He practically owns Thneedville anyway, so he could just as easily impose a new tax or "Tree-planting service" and get crazy stupid rich as people buy into the hype. O'Hare gets richer and Thneedville is better off for it. This arguably creates a better message for the movie; big corporations don't need to see "going green" as a threat to their business, but rather can profit from it. By pioneering this new tree craze, O'Hare could have both made money and made the world a better place. And he would've very easily succeeded too, if he had just read the mood of the crowd and act like a changed man. Even if he didn't believe it himself, the PR would be immense. That move would've made this movie 100% better and would have given O'Hare a lot more depth.
The odd thing is, of all the people in Thneedville, O’Hare was the only one who sold air when the air in the town wasn’t clean nor breathable. He sold fresh air that WAS breathable, yet he’s perceived as the villain of the movie just because he’s a businessman. A really good one at that.
It's not that he was selling air when the air wasn't breathable, it's that he was monopolizing air itself, which is a crime so weirdly heinous it's astonishing so few people are talking about it. He stops Ted from obtaining a tree, simply because he knows that even a single tree would render him obsolete - read; unable to make obscene amounts of money. i just realized that o'hare isn't really a bad dude, hes just really invested in his business to really care about anyone else, the whole plot of the movie is that he doesn't want any trees because if they do he wont sell anymore oxygen which will destroy his business, so he is an ultimate provider to all life in the city, and he wants and likes that power, and its not really hurting anyone, so everything is the way its supposed to be, even if its not the healthiest, he took advantage of the lack of trees and succeeded, anyone could've taken that power and he just happened to be the one to. he is literally just a really successful business man.
Probably thirty to forties. The time span seems kind of weird in this movie, but he would be barely an adult by the time the Once-ler's thneeds come to an end. That man who is with him in the flashback is still around in the present but with white hair. "How Bad Can I Be" apparently spans over five years, but to assume the Once-ler is in his 20s then he does end up looking a little too old to be in his fifties.
When the main antagonist has a much more enjoyable Personality [or a Personality in general] than your main Character, then you know you’ve both Failed and Succeeded at making the Best movie of all time

This actually gets kind of dark when you get into it. One tree can't sustain all those people. So they will most likely have to go back to o'hares methods of selling it. That is one option. Another is this.They could continue to not use o'hares air and just rely on the tree. Since their knowledge of trees are very low they will not know that one tree can't supply that much oxygen. Deaths start rising, people start dying due to oxygen deprivation, and eventually they'll come to the realization that the tree was a sham. With all the deaths, ted and his family and his friend will most likely be put on trial and prosecuted for lying and murder. They will all most likely be executed. With that, a revolution and power struggle will most likely come to see who will take o'hares place as the dealer of air(since he's now gone, most likely exiled or dead,). Assassinations, rioting, and other violence will take place. Eventually the dust will settle and the new leader of air selling will deal air to the public in exchange for cash. There will most likely be an increase in price as will be the same for many products now that theneedville needs to rebuild. This creates more conflict, people start buying street drugs and other narcotics to escape the pain of everyday life, people are left homeless, people don't have jobs, and essentially theneedville is left in massive poverty and despair. That is one theory.

I feel like Mr. O'Hare looks like a man version of Edna Mode from The Incredibles.
This actually gets kind of dark when you get into it. One tree can't sustain all those people. So they will most likely have to go back to o'hares methods of selling it. That is one option. Another is this.They could continue to not use o'hares air and just rely on the tree. Since their knowledge of trees are very low they will not know that one tree can't supply that much oxygen. Deaths start rising, people start dying due to oxygen deprivation, and eventually they'll come to the realization that the tree was a sham. With all the deaths, ted and his family and his friend will most likely be put on trial and prosecuted for lying and murder. They will all most likely be executed. With that, a revolution and power struggle will most likely come to see who will take o'hares place as the dealer of air(since he's now gone, most likely exiled or dead,). Assassinations, rioting, and other violence will take place. Eventually the dust will settle and the new leader of air selling will deal air to the public in exchange for cash. There will most likely be an increase in price as will be the same for many products now that theneedville needs to rebuild. This creates more conflict, people start buying street drugs and other narcotics to escape the pain of everyday life, people are left homeless, people don't have jobs, and essentially theneedville is left in massive poverty and despair. That is one theory.
