There's something special about those heavy duty military models that warms the heart. Nice find!

Rusty, I think I could drive my car over this key and it would still send just fine!

It looks to be based on the same principles as my 3 superb Junker keys.

Dan, that is interesting. I have yet to try a Junker. I better start looking 👍

When the cover is on, it is very solid. It is a joy to use.

NATO stock number does not mean it is a « NATO » key. Each NATO member (country) may have different equipment but have NATO stock number issued for logistical purpose.By the color, looks like a light green strangely called Navy Grey, I would think it is be british, canadian or Australia/NZ issued.

Al, thank you very much for that information! I have much to learn about this key.

I used them in the Royal Navy during the 1960s & 70s. Brilliant key - I'd love one, but the don't come u;p for sale very often and are - in my view - rather expensive.
And they were not used by any of the NATO navies I worked with.
Made by Marconi & one other company - I can't remember who.

This key was not used by any other NATO countries as far as I'm aware. I used this key extensively as a Radio Operator in the Royal Navy. It is the best key I've ever used.
Here's a link to the NATO naval communications competition where, if you scroll down, you'll see me practicing with the key with several other NATO competitors. All of whom are using basic standard issue keys from their own country.

Dave, thank you for that information and the link you provided. I agree with you that this is a fine key and I use it often. If I had to narrow down my straight keys to just one or two, this key would make it to the finals! 👍. Dave, thank you again for sharing.

I bought one of these a few days ago. I was interested in the construction there being no pivot bearings as is normal in a straight key. This one uses a bit of spring steel. The spring tension is set by the little grub-screw in front of the big gap knob and locked with the little hex nut. 73 John - G0OZY

Hi Steve, try Lindars Radio if you're in the UK.
