A milk bar is, if I recall correctly, what we in New Zealand would call a dairy... aka, a convenience store. As for that sign saying "City"... I'm pretty sure around here they'd say 'City Centre', but they still wouldn't have the Name on it if you were already inside the city...after all, you either live there, or already went past a sign saying "welcome to X" when you hit the outer suburbs (or you went through the airport or harbour) and thus know which city you're in. The routs don't go to places you already are, after all, but to Other places.
