👉 Dimash's broken, delicately breathy voice, a simple melody with uncomplcated pop rhythm (reminiscent a bit of 'I Miss You'), loving, sad but also comforting words and haunting images... and this adorable smile from Dimash... tears flow over my smiling face.
For me, the lyrics, the pop beat and the images of the video all go together very well.
Dimash leaves his beloved because she has someone else. He knows that the other can become dangerous to him, but he doesn't know that his beloved is being blackmailed by this secret policeman. He thinks she's happy.
Dimash assures her that everything is 'okay', he accepts and she should too. Life goes on and the pain will fade. It seems easy for him to give up his love. (pop beat, almost like a fast heartbeat) ... but you can hear the pain in Dimash's voice. He's fooling himself and her.
The secret policeman, who suspects something, wants to catch Dimash. When he finally realizes that the young woman will never love him, he gives her the 'choice'. She flees with Dimash... A shot is fired...
End? It leaves us stunned. What will happen? You brood and brood, but you can't get it out of your head. For whom is the glass always half full and for whom is it always half empty? ... Fascinating, clever ... great!
Director Alina Veripia was blown away when she learned she was to create the story and video for Dimash's new song. Dimash also chose Alina's favorite from 4 stories: A beautiful and deep love story set in the years of Stalin's repression. This love is so deep, pure and immortal, It defies the horror, the fear, the penetrating cold and darkness of this time.
The video was recorded in color but looks black and white, very dark, spookey. Only the lovers are shown in a bright, sun-drenched, warm, gold-bronze setting. These scenarios reinforce the intense feelings emanating from Dimash's breathy, delicate voice and the haunting, magical and beguiling, but also from the frightening and disturbing images.
The location was St. Petersburg, appropriate to the dark year 1937 in which the video takes place. (Source and more information on Dimashnews)

This song is like excellent poetry, It needs to be read, listen a couple of times to fully taste its flavour. Nowadays when we don't like it at first we throw it away...with a little effort you will discover so much more. We are used to be blown away by Dimash vocals expecting every new song will surpass the previous...what a pressure we lay on him...I love him for everything he try's out, for his creatvity, his musical art, skills and beeing a wonderfull wise, sincere young man. We have to treasure and support that letting him go with his flow...not with ours...with 💗 from a Belgian dear.

DIMASH is the King of surprises, you think you finally figure out his musical pattern, his vocals, you think his song arrangements will go one way, and he says "NOT so fast" "Surprise!!". I think we have all LEARNED NOT to impose OUR expectations upon Dimash's art!!!! But joyfully go along for HIS ride as he DETERMINES it should be!! I commenter wrote that Dimash released this video in honor and in memory of his countries difficult past to fight for freedom and independence against brutal oppressors. Further he released this on May 31st which is a significant day of remembrance in his country for its challenging history and for all those who have fought for his country's independence..

This is a love story in reference to Russian history. The Stalin’s repressions of the 1930s. How evil takes control over all. The government ruled every aspect of the people lives. Even (NKVD Officer) having the ability to effect “Her” direct memories of pure love, by tainting them with the uncontainable power over “Her”(The Lovers) life.
The music video was shot in St. Petersburg, because no other city could convey the flavor of the harsh and terrible year of 1937.

In the words of the video director and writer of the script (Alina Veripya) : “This is a very beautiful and deep love story that takes place during the years of Stalin’s repressions. In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. And they are so pure, so beautiful in their feelings, that no darkness can extinguish this light." On the question of location, the team made an unanimous decision to shoot the MV in St. Petersburg, because no other city could convey the flavor of the harsh and terrible year of > 1937. Their life and love story are invaded, and broken by NKVD (old name for KGB), representatives of the regime`s power, who could pick on you for any reason, take anything from you, throw you in jail, legally execute you, and even assassinate you, shoot you in the back. The officer represents power, so he can claim anything he wants, and he can get away with anything.
It`s not about forbidden love, it`s about the attitude of people representing power in an authoritarian regime, to destroy, reduce a "world full of color" down to only "a flash in the sky". The switch back and forth between images of the happy couple and images of the girl being pestered by the NKVD officer, has the purpose of highlighting the contrast between the sun-lit beauty of good and love, and the grim-colored ugliness of evil intentions.
The subject of the story is the fate of beauty, good and purity under an oppressive regime, and the self-entitlement of evil, that puts it`s brutal stamp over it, with the gunshot.
The screen going black before the gunshot helps keep the focus on the attitude of evil, who doesn`t know to do anything other than hurt, successfully or not - instead of on who the NKVD agent managed to hit or not.
That gunshot remains ringing in the dark, making it timeless, leaving us with a bitter taste, and making it a powerful reminder of historical regime brutality.

I think it's left to our imagination. The art of story telling...we don't always have to be given an ending...imagine what you will...good or bad...make the ending for yourself. I want more such stories, to br invited to be part of the creation process. Make music come to life right?

I'm happy to see your true reaction to this. I know it can be tempting for reactors to praise a Dimash song, even if they don't really feel it deserves it. But, you gave us your true feelings, which I respect. I like the song now and sometimes find it playing through my head when not even thinking about it, but that's only after several listens. It does seem to grow on you and I do love hearing his hushed whispery tones.

Rocky...It reminded me of the 1940's/50's film noir. The story as given to Dimash was presented showing how the LIGHT (love, comapassion, etc were squashed under Stalin in 1937. I agree that by trying to tackle such a large topic in 3 minutes left much out. The filming itself is brilliant in usage of sepia and the coldness of the grey and blacks. I like the song a lot. The story didn't need the gun shot. It needed a 2nd half.

A good work always leaves something unsaid, allowing us to become partners in creativity. Any interpretation of this clip has the right to exist.
In my interpretation, all the contradictions and inconsistencies between the video and the lyrics have been resolved.
I had a puzzle formed when I spread the events described in the verses and shown in the video in time. The whole plot of the song is divided into 2 parts. The first part in the frame: the confrontation of Love and Coercion as an allegory of the confrontation of Liberty and Suppression (a very timely identification of modern Russian realities with the time of Stalin's repressions in 1937).
The second part of the plot is out of the frame, in the lyrics.
Imagine that with a shot, the light goes out not only on the screen, but also in the eyes of our hero...
Dimash's character stands in a dirty gray cold corner of St. Petersburg and tells us his story... A posthumous account of the life events that led him to this reality. The voice of the disembodied spirit of the slain hero is like the rustle of the wind that whirls with flakes of snow flying in this St. Petersburg dead end, in which our hero is stuck forever...
The lyrics say that the world was once colored... All the colors remained in the world of the living. There is eternal gray in this St. Petersburg lane... And the hero's memories are also MONOCHROME. He paints everything the same color. Pleasant memories are painted with warm shades, unpleasant ones with cold ones.
He does not know that he died (that's why we, the audience, do not know, because we see this story through his eyes), he does not understand the nature of estrangement with his beloved (who watched the film "The Sixth Sense", he will understand), but he accompanies her year after year... He sees that over time, the girl began to "heal", spiritual wounds began to heal, although she is still crying, blaming herself for his death. And now her scarred heart allowed her to fall in love again, of course, with a worthy person. Over the years, there have been changes not only with the girl, but the soul of our character has also undergone transformations. He, too, is "cured" and finally finds the strength to accept his fate, to accept the idea that life continues for the living, and the dead must leave. Humility is included in the title of the song and video #Okay. This awareness frees him, too, making him at liberty (the idea of Liberty is very strongly emphasized in the clip). For the last time, he asks his beloved to stop blaming herself and regretting the past, dry her tears and be happy in her new life.
He tells us about his feelings while showing flashbacks from his past...
Wonderful clip! Thanks to absolutely everyone who helped this little masterpiece to be born!

However once the MV came out and having watched the video via many different reactors, I now think this song and MV is a piece of art. It took me a while to like this song, but now I do. I liked it better after seeing the video because the song sounded like he just left her, but the video showed that they got back together again (even if perhaps one or both of them ended up dying) so it was a bit happier in my mind. I don't mind the ending because we can all decide on our own ending. One day we can make it a happy ending where the shooter misses and another time we can make a sad ending.

I think they should not have removed the last 46 seconds. Too many people are saying it's unresolved and although people say they couldn't take seeing Dimash getting shot we're all grown ups and obviously know that he's acting and he doesn't really die.
Plus his acting in the death scene was better than a lot of professional actors I've seen.

This is my thoughts on the 'rest of the story': Dimash's character shows that he knows how to escape when you see him going down the ally. Clearly, the evil military guy (this is in Stalin's Russia - filmed in St. Petersburg) is wanting to capture or kill Dimash's character. The girl and Dimash's character are very much in love and one, but they know that they have to deal with the evil man & the regime. The evil man takes her to Dimash, knowing that she will never love Mr. Evil and Dimash's character knows he is coming and that he is there to save the girl and escape from Mr. Evil. Mr. Evil is arrogant and takes his time to take his shot, but the two are running through the hanging sheets and dodging and Dimash's character looks back one last time to access where Mr. Evil is and the 2 duck as the shot rings out. Mr. Evil could not have made that shot under those circumstances. Dimash's character and his love escape and go to Kazakhstan where they live happily in love for many years to come. Mr. Evil turns the gun on himself because he failed. :) That's what I think! As to the song, I believe that it was composed by the 2 Igors with the idea that it would be radio worthy, along with 'Fly Away' and 'Be With Me'. It does not have the vocal chops of other songs that Dimash has done, but yet, it is not easy to sing like he does (even if Dimash makes it seem easy). Another singer would not sound like this. The song sticks with you and you carry it around all day after hearing it.

OK, for those who do not know love stories under the totalitarian regime of the 30s and the Russian mentality. The policeman is in love with her and forced her to be his girlfriend, but he also knows that she does not love him. But she loves Dimash and the policeman was informed that they were secretly dating and he decided to catch them together. Dimash managed to escape. The policeman understands that she will never be his. So he decided to kill Dimash. He brought her to Dimash and pretended that he was letting her go, and when she ran with Dimash, he came out and shot Dimash in the back. He used her to kill Dimash. Got it or not ? This is a dramatic intrigue, so that people draw different scenarios in their heads for another week. But you don't have to do that if you follow the lyrics. Has anyone ever wondered why the video does not match the lyrics? This is because the video shows the story before the shot, the lyrics tell about what happened after the shot. It can be concluded that Dimash left her to protect her, but the shot says the opposite. To make it more clear, I will make a more open translation of the lyrics in the chorus.
(Shot) - Dimash tells her: Let it be this way, OK. I'm leaving now (leaving this world) , it is OK. You were in my destiny like a flash of light in the sky. Don't cry and do not regret. Just wipe the bitter tears from your eyes. Time will heal us. Then we will understand that the heart no longer hurts. As always, life is right, but mark my words. All this happiness happened because you loved. Can you imagine that the clip with sunlight in the apartment was filmed at night????????? Can you imagine that the clip with sunlight in the apartment was filmed at night????????? How the video clip "Okaу" was shot............ th-cam.com/video/3CwP95V6h_8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=CrazyMaks

Without the video the song just falls flat. The fact that so many people say you have to rewatch and relisten so it will grow on you, just proves that the song is lame. If it were good, everyone would be mesmerized immediately as they were with many of Dimash´s other songs. Anyway, I remain disappointed by this song: it simply doesn´t grow on me at all.

@@brendaguerin1409 Complex subtilities? Come on! There is nothing complex in this song. It´s just a cheap pop tune. I was shocked that Igor would compose something like this. That´s exactly the reason why I dislike it: because it is too cheap for someone like Dimash. Someone who has set high standards for himself like Dimash did, must be prepared to be criticized when he regresses way below the high standards he has set himself. And note: all this is not, as many defenders have claimed, about the lack of "bursts" and high notes. For example, the first part of "My heart will go on" is extremely (!) beautifully sung without "bursts". But Okay is just cheap. And the lyrics doesn´t save it: it´s just the usual lovey-dovey stuff. Lyrics is often irrelevant for the quality of the music.

@@brendaguerin1409 I stopped listening to mainstream pop music years ago, too, Brenda. But I think MM is on to something as this song sounds pretty much like a lot of the mainstream pop of the '80s and '90s. It has grown on me over 30 or 40 listenings but it isn't the least bit complex or creative in the way that Dimash is used to being.

Für mich ist es wichtig, dass das Lied die Wurzel in meinem Herz schlägt.
