    I like how Avedis is holding a machine hammered cymbal, also the jazz guy is using modern A Customs. I guess it can't all be perfect, but I thought it was funny.

      +Toby Lam And it was Sabian's president, Andy Zildjian, who was providing the translation of the last name (which wasn't exactly accurate, but nevertheless in the right direction; it's clear that he doesn't speak much Armenian, if any).

      @S M I know that. I never said it was Armenian or not Turkish; I simply said that fellow doesn't speak much Armenian.
      I'm familiar with the cultural nuances of Ottoman-Armenians, as my grandparents were survivors of the Armenian Genocide. That said, my surname is also from Ottoman/Western Armenia; it's composed of two Turkish words plus the -ian suffix.

      You will see the truth when you read Ottoman, Russian, German and American history archive about EXILE. It is NOT GENOCIDE what you call. It is called EXILE what Ottoman did. U.S.A. did it to Japan origined U.S. citizens just as a security precaution against potential riscs during Pearl Harbour attack of Japan. You will see how many Turkish were killed during the EXILE by the Armenian armed bands allying with Russians and French army. Read the history Mr. Anti-Turkish.

      the turks invented a lot of percussion, we ( western europe) actually didnt start implementing snare drums in classical/romantic music until the sounds of ceremonial turkish drums became popular. there probably exists no such thing as a cymbal that old. scrap metal and materiel were extremely sparse on the crusaders war path.

    Not really right information.
    And not right translation as well: "smith" in armenian is and always was (darbin ) դարբին . And "son" - "vordi" or "tgha" .
    "Djan: - is a form of appeal. "dear, precious, best."
    You need to check information about Roman Havasi (gypsy) who were in Sullukule , region of Constantinople, from first century. From where they came there. Then, check info about Karatals .
    Nice video, but not right info.

    • @Atilla_Batmaz
      @Atilla_Batmaz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also "zil" is an Turkish word that was ignored in the video. Constantinople was the name of the city BEFORE the Ottoman Empire. As we are talking about Ottoman times we need to call her Istanbul not Constantinople.

      During the Ottoman time, its official name was KOSTANTINIYYE, they kept the name in order to honor the founder of the city. Greek population in town called it Istanbul which meant "to the city", then local Turks called it same way. Then in time, as local people called it like this, its official name was changed to İSTANBUL as it is more republican to call it so.

    The Armenian Genocide did NEVER happen. Even the picture you showed in 2:13 was from the Siege of Medina in WWI, and the Pasha we see in front of his soldiers is Ömer Fahreddin Paşa (Rahmatullahi Aleyh), the leader who defended the Madinah for 2 years and 7 months without any supports sent from Islambol (Istanbul today). You cannot even say that Sultan Abdulhamid II was a bloody Sultan, who massacred the Armenians. Hellooo? One of the Sultan's best friends he had was an Armenian he had lost within a sad story
