hey carrie!! i work in a really old apartment complex, like 1939 old lol. Do not use drano in an old apartment. drano actually erodes your pipes and can cause flooding and water damage and mold and all that nasty stuff. we usually have to tell the tenants cause they aren’t aware of this. but just use a snake. i’ve seen it happen so much and would hate for you to have to deal with any of that.
Agree! Stay away from Drano. If toilet clogged, pour Dawn detergent (1/2 cup), pour hot water (not boiling) in toilet. Wait half hour and then pour more hot water. Your clog hopefully will go away. I learned this on TH-cam. Saved me $175 bill to have plumber come and instead did it myself!
Was just about to come to the comments to say this! Yes! My aunts 1940s townhouse in LA got massive flood damage from corrosion in the pipes 🥺 That was like 10 years ago and I remember they couldn’t save the damages done to the original hardwood floors - so sad.
Pro tip... If you write over sharpie marker on a non-porous surface with a dry erase marker, the solvents in the dry erase marker will help remove the sharpie marker.
You already seem SO happy in your new space. You can totally tell you and Drew are in your element with this type of location. Just an FYI for the outside water bowl, they don't recommend metal for outside because it heats up and can burn the animal when drinking. I would suggest switching to plastic or ceramic for the outdoor bowl.
The plug on wall above sink is for a clock. If the door not closing under the sink bothers you, can use small magnets on each side and then will close completely. 💖
Hey Carrie. Not trying to be rude but you do not want to use Drano on your drains you can actually burn a hole in your pipes. My uncle is a plumber and he’s the one that told me never to use that. What you can do is get a tool like to pull out any hair or stuff that’s in the drain that won’t damage your pipes
As someone who works in a coffee shop (chain too) I can whole-heartedly say the first shots of espresso made during the day are horrible haha, so if y'all went early in the morning it's a real possibility that might have happened. You're meant to grind a few shots out (lol that sounded way too dirty) and even then it takes a few rounds for decent espresso. I usually don't charge for the first cup I make just in case (cuz it's more convenient than doing a refund + it's cute and makes morning grump's really happy) but most stores don't have that flexibility. *old machine and i'm not a pro, just trying my best with what we've got, don't come for me artisan baristas haha*

HEY I hear if you cover permanent marker with dry erase marker then wipe it off both markers will come off of surfaces. I used to use it when I was in a classroom and kids would use permanent markers on filing cabinets and white boards. Worked pretty well?
FYI that thin white extension cord is very dangerous, those cords are thin and easily damaged over time even with light usage and are a common cause of house fires. Switch to a power strip with a thick cable and make sure the power strip is UL listed (it will say on the packaging).

the outlet above the window might have been for a plug in sconce and they stored the chord behind the light in that little hole. idk but thats my best guess LOL. also you can get outlet covers with no holes in them and just swap it out and itll blend into the wall.
I saw another blog of a person getting their tv mounted and she said it was the best thing because you can tilt it wherever u need it! The also had an apartment and they still had a tv stand for storage so yea!

If you leave an apartment you should clean it, but if you don't, just bad luck for the next person. So I always clean a new apartment (still hate it, as I hate cleaning in general 😫 )
Hope the AC gets fixed. I just dog/cat/house sit for a week and a half and the AC was broken. highs outside were 90 plus most days with lows near 70 and it got between 80-85 in the house, especially on the 2nd floor.

This is random but if the magic eraser didn’t get the pen off try rubbing hand sanitizer on it…I use it to get permanent marker off dry erase boards all the time! Loving the LA vlogs now ❤️ hope you’re enjoying!
I had a place with odd plugs but I just bought long extension cords and I ran it really close to the bottom of the wall (with those little cable clips) and then you can have your tv wherever you want. You could barely see the cord 😉

Try and use hairspray to remove the writing on the fridge! I've done it before on tile i was working on a project and the ink bleed through....😅 or there is a product I think cahhed graffiti gone? We use to use at work to remove the writing on the restroom walls.
Try some rubbing alcohol to clean marker off of appliances. It works to get sharpie off of everything at my workplace, the keyboards, the counter. Rubbing alcohol got pigment from a wet post it off my white desk.

If I didnt have a shellfish/mussels allergy and didnt have a reaction when cleaning the mats from a squid dissection at a museum I worked at..... I REALLY want to try the fresh squid ink pasta at Eataly. Might just have to take benadryl and try it anyhow since I notice my reactions have gotten less severe overtime but still look at it longingly every time we go.
Okay I just invested in a floor steamer it’s it’s 1 million billion times better than any swifter at mopping. I will say you do need to vacuum/sweep before using it but it’s sooooo nice. And the one I got was like $100. My floors look better and it is sanitized and way nicer.
I don’t understand the apt not being cleaned before you moved in; is that a normal thing in Cali? In the Midwest where I’ve only ever lived you clean when you move or the company charges you if they need to clean more before someone moves in! I’d be pissed if I had to clean the place I just moved into 🤬
