One thing that frustrates me about wizarding world games is that for years and years since deathly hallows part 2 people have been asking for a game like Hogwarts legacy and they tried making all these other mobile games and then just kept failing. And then they were super surprised when Hogwarts legacy was successful. It still feels like they'd don't fully understand their fan base.
I can guarantee you the devs know the fanbase, being fans themselves. It's purely executive greed and it's coming straight from the top... We see far too many CEOs do this greedy garbage before companies fumble and then the people that get punished are never the executives that forced it..
@@tb1235 I totally agree. It was definitely the corporate side that I was talking about. You can definitely tell the devs love HP. But it's just sad that it took the corporate this long to even decide to make a game like Hogwarts Legacy.
If it was just the CEO, that would be an easy thing to solve. Talk to the guy, have a few good arguments, explain what's what from a good angle. But more often than not, it's the middle management, HR, analytics, and supervisors, that make all those bad calls. And that can be easily hundreds of people. Especially with companies like Warner Brothers or Disney, where it's probably thousands. The CEO is probably like "Yeah, we got this Harry Potter thing going, and my employees are telling me it's going to make a shitton of money for very little investment." and doesn't know more about Harry Potter than "It's like some popular movie about a kid with glasses that fights dragons or something."
The Wizarding World is literally the best setting possible for a social MMORPG ever. Every single detail in this universe translates perfectly into this genre. Just a few random examples : - "PvP factions" --> 4 Houses + House Points - PvP gameplay --> Wand duels & Quidditch - Expansions --> Vanilla game is Year 1, and they can do at least 6 expansions which add storylines and environments - Housing --> Magic bags etc - Player Guilds + Guild Hall --> "clubs" which use the Room of Requirement (just like Dumbledore's Army) - Seasonal events --> Just like in the lore (Christmas, Halloween, etc) + End-of-year Quidditch Cup + Houses Cup - Raids & Dangerous high-level zones / World Bosses --> Forbidden Forest, Azkaban, etc - Skills to level up --> Classes - Professions/Specialization --> Just like in the lore - Transmog for outfits --> Magic - Pets/Mounts --> Fantastic Beasts - Teleportation --> Portkeys - Cooking --> Potions And I could go on for hours... I have talked with friends about this idea for so long, I even have a doc with a list of possible features lol Apart from this MMORPG that could last 15+ years and make billions every year, I absolutely want them to keep releasing single-player games along side, just like Hogwarts Legacy.
Just let Avalanche do their thing!!!!! For their first triple A game, they did some AMAZING work and their PR team is top notch. With the delays, they still managed to keep the fans satisfied. Their story team was awesome with building on the potter lore, while still keeping it true to the world we know and love. Maybe they can hire another studio to do more games within the franchise that could be online. We can both agree that Harry Potter Magic Awakened is a great game (even though I don't have the time to play it anymore) I think there are plenty of opportunities to expand upon the franchise with OTHER games. Maybe an MMO similar to the Magic Awakened series but with more of a classic multiplayer experience like leveling, combat, items, dungeons, raids, ect. Could even base it on the upcoming HBO series. Personally, I'd love to see a game set in the modern era. With all that said, any new release should NOT be dropped into Avalanche's hands because I think they need to work on their own projects. Hire some new studios. :D
Make the map smaller and more dense. Give more attention to the castle and the student experience rather than open world slush quests. More interaction with the teachers and classmates, add clubs and a house points system, add quidditch, maybe play around with a calendar system like in Persona. That's the kind of thing people actually care about-being a magical student in this world-and the thing that makes this IP unique from all the other ones in the genre.
They're not going to add a playable quidditch as they're already releasing a quidditch game. They might add matches as cut scenes but I think that's about it.
I hope they don't force Avalanche to go live service with Hogwarts Legacy or it's sequels. What I would hope for, is that they allow Avalanche to do what Insomniac have done with Spider-Man. They started with a great game and have refined it, getting better with Miles Morales and then better again with Spider-Man 2. Hogwarts Legacy is a great game, as you say, not perfect by any stretch but given the time, resources and freedom to enhance what worked, refine what didn't. They could go on to do for Wizarding World and Hogwarts, what Insomniac did for Spider-Man and comic book games.

Im not opposed to them adding a multiplayer but pls dont forget about the single players, ever since they announced this game i was extremely worried it was going to be an mmo and thankfully it was not but pls dont let single player's miss out on the amazing sequel that hogwarts legacy 2 is going to be pls that is all i ask 😭😭🙏🙏
3-4 player co-op with multiplayer and NPC dialogue handled how BG3 does it would be interesting. Have a trio of your real friends in Hogwarts with you. Make things more student-oriented also. Sneaking around at night. Making potions, but you have to learn and know the recipes with chance of failure involved. Etc. Changes like this are welcome in my book.
The way WB see this game generating a substantial amount of revenue, coupled with Harry Potter being a significant IP boasting a vast fanbase, leads me to believe they are already considering turning Hogwarts Legacy's sequel into a live service element, motivated by greed.
Definitely a possibility that's happening. But my hope is they trust Avalanche to make the best decision for the Hogwarts Legacy franchise going forward.

No matter what, this game has been a dream come true, and whilst I do think an online game set in the wizzarding world would appeal to many people, it does have me worried about the future of HL 😢 There’s so, so much more they can do with this IP! I seriously think that for HL the future should be dlc/expansions and a sequel without turning this gem into an mmo
What I don't understand is how are you going to create this breathtaking open world, not just of the school but the areas around the school that are not even in the books, so much detail, giving HP fans everything and more and just leave it with one story and be done with it. When I played this game for the first time I was like... ok... this has a decade of DLC potential. It would be just so hard for me to watch it just be.... done...
Yeah, i completely agree. It's not only a good game, but it's really beautiful and detailed. I've seen people asking for more and saying: Oh, they left this out, and they left that out. But considering the game was already released with bugs. I really think they just didn't have the time! So there almost has to be more...
I really want deeper RPG mechanics, a companion system, more intriguing side content and a better end-game, and a reworking of the spells system (for example: not having to bind utility spells into your diamonds). I think these are all good directions to take a sequel in, multiplayer is fine so long as it’s not forced.
Great game! I love it so much! How ever, being a stundent at Hogwarts not being able to even sit down in your own chair or in a classroom....? So many asked for this little thing and even back in skyrim 10 years ago you could sit.... "yeah I'm lost for words"
I think multi-player could work wonderfully if it's done like GTA online or Red Dead online. A separate mode that doesn't take away from the single player experience.
No. Even just that would take the focus away from the story and characterization. The main campaign. Involve multi-player… sure. Some Harry Potter games worked with 2-player gameplay. But not more than that. Don’t make it accessible for online play.
@@Girl4Music Nah, I don't see how it would take away from the single player focus at all if executed correctly. Rockstar did it with both games perfectly. Both games have awsome single player story and the online mode it's a complete open world with its own mission and stories that has nothing to do with the main story and both single player mode were fenomenal. With the amount of revenue they're getting from HL the can expand and have a team work on the online while the exting team work on the single player. Plus the foundation of the world and game mechanics is already there they'll just probably impove upon that.

Good game but after one play through I had zero interest in another. Note I'm not a fan or Harry Potter but I do like the concept of magic/fantasy along with the whole wizard/mage perspective which I want more games in that vein. The castle was neat and the magic was OKish. In short I would recommend buying but if they add BS to the next game it would be zero bother for me to just not purchase it. That being said please push back as I would prefer more good games as I never purchase games with micro transactions. It appears to many people are ok with this pay model so it is reducing the number of games I have interest in at any given time.
remember this is their first good good and they now have a base game to build off of. I believe the next game can be more dense, giving more to do as well as adding new spells
If they made it a live pay to play game, I wouldn’t play. I enjoy the single RPG experience because I can play as much as I want without limitations. People want to duel others live, but they can get that with MA. I would love to go to Diagon Alley for school supplies and for them to extend the magical world. I would also like to learn our backstory prior to going to Hogwarts, it would be great for each house to have their individual backstory. Adding onto the Sebastian storyline, by our decision if we turned him in or not. They should have our MC decide who to tell or not tell about the ancient magic store. I would love to bring Poppy to the ROR to see Highwing and to buy a broom for Everett! I was one of many that bought a console to play HL.
😱😭 I have the michael scott office meme screaming in my head. No! Please no! Just no. I am a casual gamer. I enjoy single player RPG, for a reason! People online 9 times out of 10 are horrible. Even if they aren’t horrible in person, they turn into some monstrosity while online. I’ve tried to play Magic Awakened, a Harry Potter mobile, pay to win, online HP game. And I *hate* it. It’s all about the micro transactions. It’s pay to win. There are so many ridiculous in-app currencies. It’s no fun playing against whales who dump tons of cash into the game so they can thwomp other players for the sake of their own fragile ego, and parade around is some ridiculous costume to show off their in game affluence. One of the reasons Hogwarts Legacy did so well was BECAUSE it was so new gamer friendly. I’m a member of a handful Hogwarts Legacy groups. There are a TON of beginner gamers on there, who only bought the game because they love HP. They love the game. But I can guarantee you that most of them would not transition well to subscription based or micro transaction based HP game. I will gladly pay $70 for a good game and play the crap out of it. But I refuse to be milked for money for pointless upgrades and add ons. If they go this way, they’ve lost me. Why does everything I care about get ruined by idiots?! I just hope they leave Hogwarts Legacy alone and let them make a better single player RPG sequel that continues the story, builds the lore, and satisfies fans.
Anybody want a hogwarts legacy 2 for the 6th and 7th years and at the end have NEWTS and have portable game files for our previous characters. More places to explore like diagon and knockturn alley. Have more spells like the patronus charm, fiendfyre, protego diabolica, and firestorm. With a visit to the ministry for all the stuff that happened last game. A fully explorable azkaban.
1 saving grace is JK is pretty good with her lawyers and contracts so a new game/sequel would have to go through an extra hoop before whatever WB says. I could see her approving both....a true single player sequel & a multiplayer game. Besides great lawyers and contracts she does like money so 2 games better than 1
as a fallout fan who bought 76 and played it less then like 10 hours. People want multiplayer features and not a full on MMO. .. Give us PVP and MP Game modes or something but to make the entire game a MMO isn't even appealing... Never played Elder scrolls online as a ES Fan... Didnt enjoy 76. Its just changes the gameplay entirely.
pvp and Quidditch would work well with multiplayer, but after that the game story would be ruined. also I don't want to have to relie on other people to finish the game or to pass something I can just over lvl and beat myself.
only live service i would accept is its own MMO with 0 microtransactions and monthly subscription like normal mmo...no "free" to play with ingame shop...im 100% willing to sub for full MMO...but if there is any ingame shop to spend irl money...im not playing that garbage
I very much dislike the current COD way of new games where companies are taking what could have been dlc and slapping a “new” sticker on it with a fresh $60+ price tag. While barely changing anything or adding anything new. That’s my current fear for a sequel to hogwarts legacy. Prelaunch, the hype for how well this game would be supported after it was released to all platforms was huge. Now it seems it’s all being forgotten. Sounds like they’re at a crossroads of “do we release the dlc content in a stitched up sequel” or do we go full fortnite route like you guys said with a multiplayer. I see many benefits to multiplayer options. Play story with friends, dueling, and quidditch (if it’s a controversy, it probably should have been added, even if we had to wait longer but oh look there’s another $60 game option. So now you’ve bought 3 games instead of one). One easy way they could do a dlc where you jump through time would be something like Tom riddles diary (obviously timeframe doesn’t work, but go with me here). How cool would it be to be sucked up into some kind of magical object into a whole other time of hogwarts? Boom new story line for a doc expansion right there

Step: new gen (and pc) exclusive Story DLC taking time between the finale and the o.w.l’s (8-10h story, new classes, new spells, more hogwarts secrets, new collectibles, new map area, new characters and so on) with better graphics, better emotions like Horizon Zero Dawn did it with the Frozen Wilds DLC! 3. Step: Hogwarts Legacy II, new Story in your 6th year at Hogwarts, better graphics, you are playing the same character at the beginning of the story a npc asks you questions about your biggest decisions from the first game (house, wand, Sebastians fate, good or bad ending, DLC decisions and so on), more rpg elements, new collectibles (chocolate frog cards), new characters (maybe a malfoy or a Longbottom), more side quests, more classes, new and different spells, moral system, more open world events, more hogwarts, new map (get rid of the south, expand to the north), new and more shops in hogsmeade, maybe diagon alley, new sectres in hogwarts new passage ways in hogwarts and so on
Actually I think Hogwarts Legacy could be one of the very few games that could work with a co-op based online mode. Basically you can explore with up to three other people so there's one from each house in Hogwarts, which if done right could be an amazing edition. Obviously it'd be a solo game and the co-op would be optional.. Outside of that multiplayer would be dreadful and entirely ruin Hogwarts Legacy, especially live service that's a huge NO WB!.
if the want to make a live serves wizarding world game fine. But adding EA's predatory approach to "Live service" in Hogwarts Legacy or its sequels, after the first title made them record braking profits as a single player RPG would only serve to drive customers away and reduce future profits on what Hogwarts Legacy proved to still be a proverbial gold mine of an IP.
A free to play game that i really enjoy is Genshin Impact. IF they manage to make a Harry Potter game that feels good to play like Genshin does, then i may be interested. Nonetheless, i'm with you guys on that one, we don't need multiplayer and stuff. ALSO: I'm super into a reboot for the Harry Potter Series games. maybe even focusing on the book story rather then the movies. That's what i was thinking while playig Hogwarts Legacy,
I started Genshin and was blown away the level of quality. Unfortunately never had the time to go back to it, haha. Plus it seemed like a really deep game that could easily suck hours of my time 😄
I would have to agree that A lot of people like myself really want to see multiplayer, while it is true that you dont necessarily need multiplayer to expand a game like hogwarts legacy to make it better or more famous i personally really just wanted online hogwarts legacy. That being said if they dont end up doing multiplayer anytime soon as long as the current content or added content that they end up adding is really good then I could live with that.
@@RetroRaconteur I think it would be interesting to see if they made a game very much based on storyline with another game based more on multiplayer interaction with either the same storyline or a different one. To be fair though that would be a lot of work. The real question I want answered is how are they going to please both sides of the coin or are they (multiplayer/non-multiplayer players). I look forward to seeing what the future holds though.
I would like it if we got continuation of the storyline. I mean we started in year 5...give us year 6 and 7 and let us discover what else this magic can do. And maybe bring in that companion system since it's gonna be a new year and our character is friends with most of the npcs by that point. Hogwarts Mystery has given us that taste but I hate playing on my phone, i want to play that on a bigger screen. Baldur's Gate 3 has given us a taste of what that could be like. I mean they know that there's fanfictions (ie with Ominus and Sebastian of course) and romance companion mods. We are basically in high school, let romance be in the air!
and also it'd be easy to just reuse the map for game 2 and 3 and just add on as you go. They would have to remake the game map basically for the live service.
Game is nice and immersive for a couple of days, and then it falls flat and feels empty. Best part was exploring the Castle and the Sebastian questline. The rest was quite mediocre. Worst part is the little to no interaction with the world and NPCs, then the lack of actual roleplaying and impact of choices, no classes to do outside of quests (and still doesn't feel like attending a class but watching cinematics). This is a game with an overall feeling of ''oooh what it could have been..'' I hear it took them years of production and in hindsight that makes the product underwhelming. It's unfortunate. Also I wished there was the option to join a dark side and recruit others into it. And in general I'm getting a bit tired that every large open world game is starting to feel the same. The world needs to feel interesting and diverse, not a large map with more of the same. After all these years, it really is waiting for TES6 and TW4 because everyone else is producing mediocre open world RPGs.
You shit on Legacy, which is fine, if you don't like the game. But then you mention Elder Scrolls and The Witcher, both of which are overhyped trash. Your opinion is invalid.
Hogwarts Legacy is Avalanche Software's first AAA game, it is a stepping stone in the right direction which is why it feels so "what could have been". Harry Potter fans/gamers have been waiting for a game like this for years, especially those of us that played the original Harry Potter games on PS1 etc. The games you mentioned were developed over time by experienced game developers/studios over a long period of time, it is completely unfair to compare them to Hogwarts Legacy.

I’d personally love to see hogwarts legacy move towards the Skyrim route, release one every 5-10 years and make the actual plot long (100-120 hrs+)with multiple side quests and dlc to build more storylines. Also more locations form the books (the bank diagon alley, the ministry, etc.) KEEP IT SINGLE PLAYER.
At first, i thought HLegacy would be a MMO, so i didnt cared at all, but latter i realised it was a single player game and that insta accioed me back to HP fandom And i dont think they should add more content to the sequel.First game has A LOT of meaningless content most players just dont care to do They need to create engaging content that adds to the quality of the overall world, not just numbers on a checklist They really should try the "Bully" (the game) approach, to give us that Hogwarts SIM experience we have been waiting for so long
If they don't want multiplayer or live service why not just add some type of DLC or expansion that way people that enjoy playing on single player mode can continue to pay on sync on player mode with more content
no rock steady did not want to do a live service game. They wanted to do a superman game and were denied by the head of WB and were told to make the sushi squad and I don’t know if it’s confirmed or not but you can put two into together the two founders of the company or left because of the sushi squad
I don’t get into live service games, in fact there is currently only 1 game that I play and have played for years and support by buying seasonal passes (seasonal passes are mainly cosmetic items and optional, it doesn’t lock main storyline or quests) and only because I was heavily involved in the beta process before launch and in the community and I still play. It’s a beautiful game with devs that try their best to listen to the community feedback and stay true to the soul of the game. But I have been burned by other studio/devs that make promises to their players and don’t deliver or deliver just enough to hook you and then change their rules and terms regarding micro transactions. It kills the enjoyment of the game for me honestly when I feel like I HAVE TO BUY to progress in a game. I really really hope Avalanche doesn’t go this route though they managed something beautiful, HL was successful as a single player why not continue building this world and establish more of its lore, once HL 2 is completed and if the fandom wants it enough then a multiplayer game could work and would be the smarter choice.
Chambers on PC is my favorite Harry Potter game. I would love some kind of remake of the early games. If they improve the puzzles and maybe stealth, I could easily imagine a remake of Philosophers or Chambers. And if they combine a morality system with the house points, I could imagine something really interesting, like imagining Harry doing quests for people after the whole school thinks he's the heir to Slytherin, etc. I love these types of videos, it feels nostalgic listening to you guys talk about Hogwarts Legacy, I love these types of hang out videos.
we already know its going to be Online and its going to be something I dont want to play. People for me ruin the experience and I just cant be bothered with it. But if its MMO, i'm not for it.
I understand the reasons behind not wanting multiplayer. I was trying to play BG3 with a power gamer and it was ruining the experience because they would tell me everything that was going to happen before it happened. They looked up all the guides so they could get the character build they wanted. With a game so driven by story, that ruins the experience for people wanting to go in blind. I think that an MMO experience would make that easier to deal with but it will more than likely make the story less involving. Having a private co-op experience would be a little better for story but also allow for a multiplayer experience...though it would probably be limited compared to going with full on MMO.
Im not a fan of online service or multiplayer option for this game to me if they do i will not play it and ill be out they should just make a sequel that finish the last two years or even bring in more spells and the other magical creatures plus maybe change the wands where certain customization of the wands wood, core and wand length and flexibility that affects certain aspects of it like makes certain types of spells stronger other spells have shorter cool down and even give spells longer range to cover and affect
I'm proud to say I did purchase a PS5 just to play Hogwarts Legacy and want more! I've now gone on to play Horizon Zero Dawn and Skyrim is next! :) I'd love to see more of these conversations in the future. You two have a great rapport and I loved hearing all your ideas. Bethesda became xbox/pc exclusive for most future titles. However, all the older games they've made are still on Sony systems. So, Starfield and any future Elder Scroll or Fallout games will not be on Playstation.
I'm personally very pessimistic about the future of HP games. I've been playing games for a long time, and in my eyes, they're already showing the signs of greedy management. That AND the fact that the wizarding world is a license, it gives them a monopoly over it. The second the leadership of a passionate dev team starts talking about money, you get a passion drain with all the devs leaving to either start their own company (unfortunately due to the license, they won't be able to make HP games) or they leave the industry all together. So I feel as though the damage has already been done.
At a time where I was about to stop playing games this game came right on time it kept me into gaming I don’t regret getting this game. It’s worth every penny in my opinion.
Whatever comes from it I hope it works, Hogwarts Legacy brought me back to gaming and actually my very first platinum. It’s just an insane universe and game that I am really invested in now , and I am not even a Harry P fan, per se. Also I hope they truly just make a sequel to this game , even tho I believe there’s obviously challenges to expanding the existing content and story , if they take the right time and put the same energy as they put in H Legacy , this could be one of the most successful game franchises to come
This new C.E.O. of WB is totally out of touch if he feels like dragging already very successful games and turning them into live service is ridiculous Hogwarts Legacy isn't Fortnite and will never be Fortnite what I will say is if WB does go the live service route in game and gives Avalanche no say on that issue I would point them to games like GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2 that way you still can do crazy Monetization and ask people to break their wallets in the online only mode with new outfits and wands ect. without ruffling feathers of the single player Fan base IMO

I'm on the camp of no multiplayer. But i think to please everyone, they should put it in but not make it mandatory. Like for example missions that you can only do with co-op for example. Keep the solo experience THE aspect of the game. That's what i would do. And stay far away from live service, PLEASE!
Honestly, I would love an MMO that is done right, but I don't trust any company to try to deliver something with that heavy scope. I would rather they enhance the single-player.
I feel like if Avalanche can take some things from Magic Awakened, wizard unite and even Hogwarts Mystery they can make the ultimate Harry potter experience despite them being mobile games with micro transactions I'm impressed with some of thr features they add
If this game had a similar formula to, games such as elden ring (unlimited replayability, unique builds, monsters and creatures all around the world you have to fight maybe hunt for a reward, repayable dungeons ECT) you don't need a sequel right now just turn the game we already got into the ultimate harry Potter gaming experience if not they should do it with the next game
I BLASTED through this game on my first play through back at launch. Now I am going back and doing my second full play through and I've had more of a "clear mind" and less "OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!" I'm looking at this with more of a critical eye now. I don't think "live service" would be a good idea unless it was open world story stuff with friends, like an MMO. I don't want "Hogwarts Legends PVP" I want Hogwarts Legacy 2, or I want Wizarding World MMO. I want a morality meter. I want choices made in game to mean something and have an effect on the story. If I screw a student over I want it to result in more than getting bad mouthed a few times when I pass them in my playthrough. I want new game plus. I want more spells, specifically I want reducto, expulso, EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!!!!! I don't want to play a mini QTE for Alohomora. We don't see them do a QTE in the films and books. I want to go other places. Specifically, I would like to see more time in Azkaban. I would love for there to be Quidditch. There is a lot they can do to make the next game that much better. But there is also just as much that they could do to ruin the game for most of us.
Just needs a few tweaks, and add in Quidditch, then post game content. The fact Hogwarts Legacy was not nominated for ANYTHING at the Game Awards, still burns me up.
I'm as old as Lupin was while teaching at Hogwarts, or at the very least almost. I'm not waiting for a Hogwarts Letter inviting me to be a student. I'm waiting for a Job Offer. "Hey, would you like to teach at our school? We're running out of applicants for the vacant teaching position, and we're getting desparate..." But for Hogwarts Legacy: Some Content DLC, then a good proper singleplayer sequel. A Hogwarts MMO or a free to play, pay to win, life service, lootbox, whateverthefuck game should come after, if at all, when a community of Wizarding Gamers is well established.
A Multiplayer expansion for Hogwarts Legacy would be cool. As long as it is a seperate mode/executable. And it has a lot to do that actually makes sense and is fun to do with multiple people. But above all else I just want more content for Hogwarts Legacy. Be it story/quests/combat related just about anything new would do it for me. The thing I disliked most about Hogwarts legacy was how after the story was done... sure you could explore more but for what reason? The exploration didn't really grap me at first and even now without hundreds of mods I can't be bothered to even play. One of the things that dissapointed me the most was the lack of enemy variety and how little challenge the open world posed. Mods remedy this issue somewhat but there is so much else that could be done.
I would love an another game like Hogwarts Legacy with single player. If they would find a way to add muti player but not ruin for the people who want single player that would be great. I would totally buy all the games again, they were my favourite games as an teenager. I'm going to start playing them all soon.
multiplayer as in MMO, ill definitely try it. i would really like to multiplayer as in co op like BG3 in Hogwarts legacy. if they add live service i would go something like GTA where you can play online but its kinda separate from the single player.
the last movie wasn't deathly hallows part 2 though. We had the fantastic beasts and to many fans those were good. I personaly would enjoy watching the entire vision J.K. had for that storyline.
More realistically PortKey Games will end up making a free to play MMO based in the Wizarding world, I highly doubt they'd take hogwarts legacy and make that multiplayer. I'm assuming it'd be more akin to something like that hogwarts mobile game.
Great video and discussion! You are both my go-to people for anything Harry Potter/Hogwarts legacy games content. As a person who is a fan of Hogwarts Legacy, the Batman Arkham series and who has played numerous games that have been shut down due to the live-service model - I am so disappointed in this announcement. It no only sounds completely tone-deaf, the CEO clearly has no idea what has made WB Games successful and this is clearly a money grab. I hope Avalanche Software are allowed to keep to their corse, make a Hogwarts Game+, DLC or sequel.
I like to play games when I want to play them and not rely on others, or them on me to play. HL2 in just multi player is just a no for me. I haven't even bothered with the co-op stuff that's been in various older single player openworld games. I also don't really want them to put Quidditch fully in to HL2 - If I want a sports game I will buy one
I'd personally love to have the ability after the end game to travel to Mahoutokuro or any other magical school round the world for becoming a master and thus sort of continue studies but in a very different setting/ environment/ architecture/ culture etc
@@RetroRaconteur well it'll be like creating a new game off the back of their existing coding, different maps and all, might be good as a sequal or a DLC for each school. But yeah it will require a big time investment though i could see it work and be profitable. I think the biggest downside to HG in ita current form is re-playability....casual players don't really have a good enough reason to go back at grinding achievements while if they go for the main story only it doesn't feel as fun/ rewarding

One thing that frustrates me about wizarding world games is that for years and years since deathly hallows part 2 people have been asking for a game like Hogwarts legacy and they tried making all these other mobile games and then just kept failing. And then they were super surprised when Hogwarts legacy was successful. It still feels like they'd don't fully understand their fan base.
I can guarantee you the devs know the fanbase, being fans themselves. It's purely executive greed and it's coming straight from the top... We see far too many CEOs do this greedy garbage before companies fumble and then the people that get punished are never the executives that forced it..

If it was just the CEO, that would be an easy thing to solve. Talk to the guy, have a few good arguments, explain what's what from a good angle. But more often than not, it's the middle management, HR, analytics, and supervisors, that make all those bad calls. And that can be easily hundreds of people. Especially with companies like Warner Brothers or Disney, where it's probably thousands. The CEO is probably like "Yeah, we got this Harry Potter thing going, and my employees are telling me it's going to make a shitton of money for very little investment." and doesn't know more about Harry Potter than "It's like some popular movie about a kid with glasses that fights dragons or something."
Wb did worse with games outside of Harry potter people used to think they woiluld have micro transaction in this game
Not gonna lie.. the HP mobile game Magic Awakened imo is way better than legacy.
The Wizarding World is literally the best setting possible for a social MMORPG ever. Every single detail in this universe translates perfectly into this genre.
Just a few random examples :
- "PvP factions" --> 4 Houses + House Points
- PvP gameplay --> Wand duels & Quidditch
- Expansions --> Vanilla game is Year 1, and they can do at least 6 expansions which add storylines and environments
- Housing --> Magic bags etc
- Player Guilds + Guild Hall --> "clubs" which use the Room of Requirement (just like Dumbledore's Army)
- Seasonal events --> Just like in the lore (Christmas, Halloween, etc) + End-of-year Quidditch Cup + Houses Cup
- Raids & Dangerous high-level zones / World Bosses --> Forbidden Forest, Azkaban, etc
- Skills to level up --> Classes
- Professions/Specialization --> Just like in the lore
- Transmog for outfits --> Magic
- Pets/Mounts --> Fantastic Beasts
- Teleportation --> Portkeys
- Cooking --> Potions
And I could go on for hours...

Apart from this MMORPG that could last 15+ years and make billions every year, I absolutely want them to keep releasing single-player games along side, just like Hogwarts Legacy.

Just let Avalanche do their thing!!!!! For their first triple A game, they did some AMAZING work and their PR team is top notch. With the delays, they still managed to keep the fans satisfied. Their story team was awesome with building on the potter lore, while still keeping it true to the world we know and love. Maybe they can hire another studio to do more games within the franchise that could be online. We can both agree that Harry Potter Magic Awakened is a great game (even though I don't have the time to play it anymore) I think there are plenty of opportunities to expand upon the franchise with OTHER games. Maybe an MMO similar to the Magic Awakened series but with more of a classic multiplayer experience like leveling, combat, items, dungeons, raids, ect. Could even base it on the upcoming HBO series. Personally, I'd love to see a game set in the modern era. With all that said, any new release should NOT be dropped into Avalanche's hands because I think they need to work on their own projects. Hire some new studios. :D

Make the map smaller and more dense. Give more attention to the castle and the student experience rather than open world slush quests. More interaction with the teachers and classmates, add clubs and a house points system, add quidditch, maybe play around with a calendar system like in Persona. That's the kind of thing people actually care about-being a magical student in this world-and the thing that makes this IP unique from all the other ones in the genre.
They're not going to add a playable quidditch as they're already releasing a quidditch game. They might add matches as cut scenes but I think that's about it.
Make the school and student life more significant to the game and story similar to the persona series.
Definitely A LOT of ideas they could pull from Persona.

I hope they don't force Avalanche to go live service with Hogwarts Legacy or it's sequels. What I would hope for, is that they allow Avalanche to do what Insomniac have done with Spider-Man. They started with a great game and have refined it, getting better with Miles Morales and then better again with Spider-Man 2. Hogwarts Legacy is a great game, as you say, not perfect by any stretch but given the time, resources and freedom to enhance what worked, refine what didn't. They could go on to do for Wizarding World and Hogwarts, what Insomniac did for Spider-Man and comic book games.

3-4 player co-op with multiplayer and NPC dialogue handled how BG3 does it would be interesting. Have a trio of your real friends in Hogwarts with you. Make things more student-oriented also. Sneaking around at night. Making potions, but you have to learn and know the recipes with chance of failure involved. Etc. Changes like this are welcome in my book.

The way WB see this game generating a substantial amount of revenue, coupled with Harry Potter being a significant IP boasting a vast fanbase, leads me to believe they are already considering turning Hogwarts Legacy's sequel into a live service element, motivated by greed.
Definitely a possibility that's happening. But my hope is they trust Avalanche to make the best decision for the Hogwarts Legacy franchise going forward.

What I don't understand is how are you going to create this breathtaking open world, not just of the school but the areas around the school that are not even in the books, so much detail, giving HP fans everything and more and just leave it with one story and be done with it. When I played this game for the first time I was like... ok... this has a decade of DLC potential. It would be just so hard for me to watch it just be.... done...
Yeah, i completely agree. It's not only a good game, but it's really beautiful and detailed. I've seen people asking for more and saying: Oh, they left this out, and they left that out. But considering the game was already released with bugs. I really think they just didn't have the time! So there almost has to be more...

There is so much material to work with. The schools, professions, magical beasts, quidditch, the founders SO MUCH for each topic to have its own game
I really want deeper RPG mechanics, a companion system, more intriguing side content and a better end-game, and a reworking of the spells system (for example: not having to bind utility spells into your diamonds). I think these are all good directions to take a sequel in, multiplayer is fine so long as it’s not forced.

Great game! I love it so much! How ever, being a stundent at Hogwarts not being able to even sit down in your own chair or in a classroom....? So many asked for this little thing and even back in skyrim 10 years ago you could sit.... "yeah I'm lost for words"
Agreed. The world needs to be more interactive, and classes have to be multi level mini games so they last the year like Bully did.

@@Girl4Music Nah, I don't see how it would take away from the single player focus at all if executed correctly. Rockstar did it with both games perfectly. Both games have awsome single player story and the online mode it's a complete open world with its own mission and stories that has nothing to do with the main story and both single player mode were fenomenal. With the amount of revenue they're getting from HL the can expand and have a team work on the online while the exting team work on the single player. Plus the foundation of the world and game mechanics is already there they'll just probably impove upon that.

Good game but after one play through I had zero interest in another. Note I'm not a fan or Harry Potter but I do like the concept of magic/fantasy along with the whole wizard/mage perspective which I want more games in that vein. The castle was neat and the magic was OKish. In short I would recommend buying but if they add BS to the next game it would be zero bother for me to just not purchase it.
That being said please push back as I would prefer more good games as I never purchase games with micro transactions. It appears to many people are ok with this pay model so it is reducing the number of games I have interest in at any given time.
remember this is their first good good and they now have a base game to build off of. I believe the next game can be more dense, giving more to do as well as adding new spells
If they made it a live pay to play game, I wouldn’t play. I enjoy the single RPG experience because I can play as much as I want without limitations. People want to duel others live, but they can get that with MA. I would love to go to Diagon Alley for school supplies and for them to extend the magical world. I would also like to learn our backstory prior to going to Hogwarts, it would be great for each house to have their individual backstory. Adding onto the Sebastian storyline, by our decision if we turned him in or not. They should have our MC decide who to tell or not tell about the ancient magic store. I would love to bring Poppy to the ROR to see Highwing and to buy a broom for Everett! I was one of many that bought a console to play HL.

The only multiplayer I’d want to have in HL would be a PvP wizard duel mini game keep the rest of the game focused on single player

I am a casual gamer. I enjoy single player RPG, for a reason!
People online 9 times out of 10 are horrible. Even if they aren’t horrible in person, they turn into some monstrosity while online.
I’ve tried to play Magic Awakened, a Harry Potter mobile, pay to win, online HP game. And I *hate* it.
It’s all about the micro transactions. It’s pay to win. There are so many ridiculous in-app currencies. It’s no fun playing against whales who dump tons of cash into the game so they can thwomp other players for the sake of their own fragile ego, and parade around is some ridiculous costume to show off their in game affluence.
One of the reasons Hogwarts Legacy did so well was BECAUSE it was so new gamer friendly. I’m a member of a handful Hogwarts Legacy groups. There are a TON of beginner gamers on there, who only bought the game because they love HP. They love the game. But I can guarantee you that most of them would not transition well to subscription based or micro transaction based HP game.
I will gladly pay $70 for a good game and play the crap out of it. But I refuse to be milked for money for pointless upgrades and add ons.
If they go this way, they’ve lost me. Why does everything I care about get ruined by idiots?!
I just hope they leave Hogwarts Legacy alone and let them make a better single player RPG sequel that continues the story, builds the lore, and satisfies fans.

Anybody want a hogwarts legacy 2 for the 6th and 7th years and at the end have NEWTS and have portable game files for our previous characters. More places to explore like diagon and knockturn alley. Have more spells like the patronus charm, fiendfyre, protego diabolica, and firestorm. With a visit to the ministry for all the stuff that happened last game. A fully explorable azkaban.

1 saving grace is JK is pretty good with her lawyers and contracts so a new game/sequel would have to go through an extra hoop before whatever WB says. It doesn't seem like she really touches the video games much since the creation of Portkey. That's kind of their main purpose.
as a fallout fan who bought 76 and played it less then like 10 hours. People want multiplayer features and not a full on MMO. .. Give us PVP and MP Game modes or something but to make the entire game a MMO isn't even appealing... Never played Elder scrolls online as a ES Fan... Didnt enjoy 76. Its just changes the gameplay entirely.
pvp and Quidditch would work well with multiplayer, but after that the game story would be ruined. also I don't want to have to relie on other people to finish the game or to pass something I can just over lvl and beat myself.
only live service i would accept is its own MMO with 0 microtransactions and monthly subscription like normal mmo...no "free" to play with ingame shop...im 100% willing to sub for full MMO...but if there is any ingame shop to spend irl money...im not playing that garbage

I very much dislike the current COD way of new games where companies are taking what could have been dlc and slapping a “new” sticker on it with a fresh $60+ price tag. While barely changing anything or adding anything new. That’s my current fear for a sequel to hogwarts legacy. Prelaunch, the hype for how well this game would be supported after it was released to all platforms was huge. Now it seems it’s all being forgotten. Sounds like they’re at a crossroads of “do we release the dlc content in a stitched up sequel” or do we go full fortnite route like you guys said with a multiplayer. I see many benefits to multiplayer options. Play story with friends, dueling, and quidditch (if it’s a controversy, it probably should have been added, even if we had to wait longer but oh look there’s another $60 game option. So now you’ve bought 3 games instead of one). One easy way they could do a dlc where you jump through time would be something like Tom riddles diary (obviously timeframe doesn’t work, but go with me here). How cool would it be to be sucked up into some kind of magical object into a whole other time of hogwarts? Boom new story line for a doc expansion right there
1. Step: New Game + & Ultra Hard Mode (two new trophies)
2. Step: new gen (and pc) exclusive Story DLC taking time between the finale and the o.w.l’s (8-10h story, new classes, new spells, more hogwarts secrets, new collectibles, new map area, new characters and so on) with better graphics, better emotions like Horizon Zero Dawn did it with the Frozen Wilds DLC!
3. Step: Hogwarts Legacy II, new Story in your 6th year at Hogwarts, better graphics, you are playing the same character at the beginning of the story a npc asks you questions about your biggest decisions from the first game (house, wand, Sebastians fate, good or bad ending, DLC decisions and so on), more rpg elements, new collectibles (chocolate frog cards), new characters (maybe a malfoy or a Longbottom), more side quests, more classes, new and different spells, moral system, more open world events, more hogwarts, new map (get rid of the south, expand to the north), new and more shops in hogsmeade, maybe diagon alley, new sectres in hogwarts new passage ways in hogwarts and so on
Actually I think Hogwarts Legacy could be one of the very few games that could work with a co-op based online mode. Basically you can explore with up to three other people so there's one from each house in Hogwarts, which if done right could be an amazing edition. Obviously it'd be a solo game and the co-op would be optional.. Outside of that multiplayer would be dreadful and entirely ruin Hogwarts Legacy, especially live service that's a huge NO WB!.

No, follow Baldur’s Gate’s example, add multiple player and more dialogue options
if the want to make a live serves wizarding world game fine. But adding EA's predatory approach to "Live service" in Hogwarts Legacy or its sequels, after the first title made them record braking profits as a single player RPG would only serve to drive customers away and reduce future profits on what Hogwarts Legacy proved to still be a proverbial gold mine of an IP.
A free to play game that i really enjoy is Genshin Impact. IF they manage to make a Harry Potter game that feels good to play like Genshin does, then i may be interested. Nonetheless, i'm with you guys on that one, we don't need multiplayer and stuff.
ALSO: I'm super into a reboot for the Harry Potter Series games. maybe even focusing on the book story rather then the movies. That's what i was thinking while playig Hogwarts Legacy,
I started Genshin and was blown away the level of quality. Unfortunately never had the time to go back to it, haha. Plus it seemed like a really deep game that could easily suck hours of my time 😄

I would have to agree that A lot of people like myself really want to see multiplayer, while it is true that you dont necessarily need multiplayer to expand a game like hogwarts legacy to make it better or more famous i personally really just wanted online hogwarts legacy. That being said if they dont end up doing multiplayer anytime soon as long as the current content or added content that they end up adding is really good then I could live with that.

@@RetroRaconteur I think it would be interesting to see if they made a game very much based on storyline with another game based more on multiplayer interaction with either the same storyline or a different one. To be fair though that would be a lot of work.
The real question I want answered is how are they going to please both sides of the coin or are they (multiplayer/non-multiplayer players).

I hope they add another page of spells instead of fitting rid of some and replacing. More spells would be better
I would like it if we got continuation of the storyline. I mean we started in year 5...give us year 6 and 7 and let us discover what else this magic can do. And maybe bring in that companion system since it's gonna be a new year and our character is friends with most of the npcs by that point. Hogwarts Mystery has given us that taste but I hate playing on my phone, i want to play that on a bigger screen. Baldur's Gate 3 has given us a taste of what that could be like. I mean they know that there's fanfictions (ie with Ominus and Sebastian of course) and romance companion mods. We are basically in high school, let romance be in the air!
and also it'd be easy to just reuse the map for game 2 and 3 and just add on as you go. They would have to remake the game map basically for the live service.
Game is nice and immersive for a couple of days, and then it falls flat and feels empty. Best part was exploring the Castle and the Sebastian questline. The rest was quite mediocre. Worst part is the little to no interaction with the world and NPCs, then the lack of actual roleplaying and impact of choices, no classes to do outside of quests (and still doesn't feel like attending a class but watching cinematics). This is a game with an overall feeling of ''oooh what it could have been..'' I hear it took them years of production and in hindsight that makes the product underwhelming. It's unfortunate. Also I wished there was the option to join a dark side and recruit others into it.
And in general I'm getting a bit tired that every large open world game is starting to feel the same. The world needs to feel interesting and diverse, not a large map with more of the same. After all these years, it really is waiting for TES6 and TW4 because everyone else is producing mediocre open world RPGs.

Hogwarts Legacy is Avalanche Software's first AAA game, it is a stepping stone in the right direction which is why it feels so "what could have been". Harry Potter fans/gamers have been waiting for a game like this for years, especially those of us that played the original Harry Potter games on PS1 etc.
The games you mentioned were developed over time by experienced game developers/studios over a long period of time, it is completely unfair to compare them to Hogwarts Legacy.

I’d personally love to see hogwarts legacy move towards the Skyrim route, release one every 5-10 years and make the actual plot long (100-120 hrs+)with multiple side quests and dlc to build more storylines. Also more locations form the books (the bank diagon alley, the ministry, etc.) KEEP IT SINGLE PLAYER.
As long as we have a few significant DLCs in between (like Skyrim), I'd be good with this!
At first, i thought HLegacy would be a MMO, so i didnt cared at all, but latter i realised it was a single player game and that insta accioed me back to HP fandom
And i dont think they should add more content to the sequel.First game has A LOT of meaningless content most players just dont care to do
They need to create engaging content that adds to the quality of the overall world, not just numbers on a checklist
They really should try the "Bully"
(the game) approach, to give us that Hogwarts SIM experience we have been waiting for so long
If they don't want multiplayer or live service why not just add some type of DLC or expansion that way people that enjoy playing on single player mode can continue to pay on sync on player mode with more content

no rock steady did not want to do a live service game. They wanted to do a superman game and were denied by the head of WB and were told to make the sushi squad and I don’t know if it’s confirmed or not but you can put two into together the two founders of the company or left because of the sushi squad
I don’t get into live service games, in fact there is currently only 1 game that I play and have played for years and support by buying seasonal passes (seasonal passes are mainly cosmetic items and optional, it doesn’t lock main storyline or quests) and only because I was heavily involved in the beta process before launch and in the community and I still play.
It’s a beautiful game with devs that try their best to listen to the community feedback and stay true to the soul of the game.
But I have been burned by other studio/devs that make promises to their players and don’t deliver or deliver just enough to hook you and then change their rules and terms regarding micro transactions. It kills the enjoyment of the game for me honestly when I feel like I HAVE TO BUY to progress in a game.
I really really hope Avalanche doesn’t go this route though they managed something beautiful, HL was successful as a single player why not continue building this world and establish more of its lore, once HL 2 is completed and if the fandom wants it enough then a multiplayer game could work and would be the smarter choice.

Chambers on PC is my favorite Harry Potter game. I would love some kind of remake of the early games. If they improve the puzzles and maybe stealth, I could easily imagine a remake of Philosophers or Chambers. And if they combine a morality system with the house points, I could imagine something really interesting, like imagining Harry doing quests for people after the whole school thinks he's the heir to Slytherin, etc. I love these types of videos, it feels nostalgic listening to you guys talk about Hogwarts Legacy, I love these types of hang out videos.

we already know its going to be Online and its going to be something I dont want to play. People for me ruin the experience and I just cant be bothered with it. But if its MMO, i'm not for it.
I understand the reasons behind not wanting multiplayer. I was trying to play BG3 with a power gamer and it was ruining the experience because they would tell me everything that was going to happen before it happened. They looked up all the guides so they could get the character build they wanted. With a game so driven by story, that ruins the experience for people wanting to go in blind.
I think that an MMO experience would make that easier to deal with but it will more than likely make the story less involving. Having a private co-op experience would be a little better for story but also allow for a multiplayer experience...though it would probably be limited compared to going with full on MMO.
Im not a fan of online service or multiplayer option for this game to me if they do i will not play it and ill be out they should just make a sequel that finish the last two years or even bring in more spells and the other magical creatures plus maybe change the wands where certain customization of the wands wood, core and wand length and flexibility that affects certain aspects of it like makes certain types of spells stronger other spells have shorter cool down and even give spells longer range to cover and affect

I'm proud to say I did purchase a PS5 just to play Hogwarts Legacy and want more! I've now gone on to play Horizon Zero Dawn and Skyrim is next! :) I'd love to see more of these conversations in the future. You two have a great rapport and I loved hearing all your ideas. @@dvdh4856 Skyrim is on PlayStation as well! In fact, you can get it on PS3, PS4, or PS5.
Bethesda became xbox/pc exclusive for most future titles. However, all the older games they've made are still on Sony systems. So, Starfield and any future Elder Scroll or Fallout games will not be on Playstation.

I'm personally very pessimistic about the future of HP games. I've been playing games for a long time, and in my eyes, they're already showing the signs of greedy management. That AND the fact that the wizarding world is a license, it gives them a monopoly over it.
The second the leadership of a passionate dev team starts talking about money, you get a passion drain with all the devs leaving to either start their own company (unfortunately due to the license, they won't be able to make HP games) or they leave the industry all together. So I feel as though the damage has already been done.
At a time where I was about to stop playing games this game came right on time it kept me into gaming I don’t regret getting this game. It’s worth every penny in my opinion.

Whatever comes from it I hope it works, Hogwarts Legacy brought me back to gaming and actually my very first platinum. It’s just an insane universe and game that I am really invested in now , and I am not even a Harry P fan, per se. Also I hope they truly just make a sequel to this game , even tho I believe there’s obviously challenges to expanding the existing content and story , if they take the right time and put the same energy as they put in H Legacy , this could be one of the most successful game franchises to come

This new C.E.O. of WB is totally out of touch if he feels like dragging already very successful games and turning them into live service is ridiculous Hogwarts Legacy isn't Fortnite and will never be Fortnite what I will say is if WB does go the live service route in game and gives Avalanche no say on that issue I would point them to games like GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2 that way you still can do crazy Monetization and ask people to break their wallets in the online only mode with new outfits and wands ect. without ruffling feathers of the single player Fan base IMO

I'm on the camp of no multiplayer. But i think to please everyone, they should put it in but not make it mandatory. Like for example missions that you can only do with co-op for example. Keep the solo experience THE aspect of the game. That's what i would do. And stay far away from live service, PLEASE!
They could also just add 2-3 friends and then have roleplay servers.

Honestly, I would love an MMO that is done right, but I don't trust any company to try to deliver something with that heavy scope. I would rather they enhance the single-player.
They wouldn’t allow Quidditch so wouldn’t surprise me if WB tried to talk them into this
I feel like if Avalanche can take some things from Magic Awakened, wizard unite and even Hogwarts Mystery they can make the ultimate Harry potter experience despite them being mobile games with micro transactions I'm impressed with some of thr features they add
I agree with some of this too. There are A LOT of good ideas in Magic Awakened...it's just in a package that many console/PC players are against.

If this game had a similar formula to, games such as elden ring (unlimited replayability, unique builds, monsters and creatures all around the world you have to fight maybe hunt for a reward, repayable dungeons ECT) you don't need a sequel right now just turn the game we already got into the ultimate harry Potter gaming experience if not they should do it with the next game
I BLASTED through this game on my first play through back at launch. Now I am going back and doing my second full play through and I've had more of a "clear mind" and less "OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!" I'm looking at this with more of a critical eye now. I don't think "live service" would be a good idea unless it was open world story stuff with friends, like an MMO. I don't want "Hogwarts Legends PVP" I want Hogwarts Legacy 2, or I want Wizarding World MMO. I want a morality meter. I want choices made in game to mean something and have an effect on the story. If I screw a student over I want it to result in more than getting bad mouthed a few times when I pass them in my playthrough. I want new game plus. I want more spells, specifically I want reducto, expulso, EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!!!!! I don't want to play a mini QTE for Alohomora. We don't see them do a QTE in the films and books. I want to go other places. Specifically, I would like to see more time in Azkaban. I would love for there to be Quidditch. There is a lot they can do to make the next game that much better. But there is also just as much that they could do to ruin the game for most of us.
Live Service just junks games up. It’s a crime this game didn’t get any nominations because of the nominators political agendas.
Just needs a few tweaks, and add in Quidditch, then post game content. The fact Hogwarts Legacy was not nominated for ANYTHING at the Game Awards, still burns me up.
I'm as old as Lupin was while teaching at Hogwarts, or at the very least almost. I'm not waiting for a Hogwarts Letter inviting me to be a student. I'm waiting for a Job Offer. "Hey, would you like to teach at our school? We're running out of applicants for the vacant teaching position, and we're getting desparate..."
But for Hogwarts Legacy: Some Content DLC, then a good proper singleplayer sequel. A Hogwarts MMO or a free to play, pay to win, life service, lootbox, whateverthefuck game should come after, if at all, when a community of Wizarding Gamers is well established.
A Multiplayer expansion for Hogwarts Legacy would be cool.
As long as it is a seperate mode/executable.
And it has a lot to do that actually makes sense and is fun to do with multiple people.
But above all else I just want more content for Hogwarts Legacy.
Be it story/quests/combat related just about anything new would do it for me.
The thing I disliked most about Hogwarts legacy was how after the story was done... sure you could explore more but for what reason?
The exploration didn't really grap me at first and even now without hundreds of mods I can't be bothered to even play.
One of the things that dissapointed me the most was the lack of enemy variety and how little challenge the open world posed.
Mods remedy this issue somewhat but there is so much else that could be done.
I would love an another game like Hogwarts Legacy with single player. If they would find a way to add muti player but not ruin for the people who want single player that would be great. I would totally buy all the games again, they were my favourite games as an teenager. I'm going to start playing them all soon.

the last movie wasn't deathly hallows part 2 though. We had the fantastic beasts and to many fans those were good. I personaly would enjoy watching the entire vision J.K. had for that storyline.
More realistically PortKey Games will end up making a free to play MMO based in the Wizarding world, I highly doubt they'd take hogwarts legacy and make that multiplayer. I'm assuming it'd be more akin to something like that hogwarts mobile game.

As a person who is a fan of Hogwarts Legacy, the Batman Arkham series and who has played numerous games that have been shut down due to the live-service model - I am so disappointed in this announcement. It no only sounds completely tone-deaf, the CEO clearly has no idea what has made WB Games successful and this is clearly a money grab. I hope Avalanche Software are allowed to keep to their corse, make a Hogwarts Game+, DLC or sequel.

I probably wouldn't play a MMO but I would play on Roleplay servers. Harry Potter RP servers have been thriving on Gmod for decades.

I like to play games when I want to play them and not rely on others, or them on me to play.
HL2 in just multi player is just a no for me. I haven't even bothered with the co-op stuff that's been in various older single player openworld games. I also don't really want them to put Quidditch fully in to HL2 - If I want a sports game I will buy one
I'd personally love to have the ability after the end game to travel to Mahoutokuro or any other magical school round the world for becoming a master and thus sort of continue studies but in a very different setting/ environment/ architecture/ culture etc

@@RetroRaconteur well it'll be like creating a new game off the back of their existing coding, different maps and all, might be good as a sequal or a DLC for each school. But yeah it will require a big time investment though i could see it work and be profitable. I think the biggest downside to HG in ita current form is re-playability....casual players don't really have a good enough reason to go back at grinding achievements while if they go for the main story only it doesn't feel as fun/ rewarding
