I was on the Respawn roster, had 5 of their top 10 videos and was a... well, I can't say it on the comments, close to beating GuNNiT235's Legendary Fake Nuke before MACHINIMA pulled the rug. I believe these videos have all been deleted. I had a playlist of old ones and the warning on TH-cam reads: "One or more videos have been removed from the playlist because they were deleted from TH-cam." What I do find hilarious is one of the axe-men, or women, who just carved the main channel's directors program and BRUTALLY so, ended up starting her own career as a content creator. I forget who they work for now, but she callously fired all the directors who made videos except a few. She then later, after Machinima shut down had the stones to complain about her videos being removed... but what about all the creators she fired? Hahaha. It's funny. Probably for the best you didn't take the Machinima pill. They apparently awarded the odd good contract during Mw2, the good one, not the husk of a game wearing it's skin from 2022. But quickly wised up to the act and only offered trash. Lifetime contracts with terrible splits, 3 year contracts with terrible splits. They also had requirements, you needed certain minimums to even apply, which was aggravating. If you were a smaller creator you'd have to jump through hoops just to get the trash contract to ride out. So spend a year grinding to even get the opportunity for a contract that locks you in forever or quite awhile with garbage pay. Their requirements were higher than the TH-cam partner ones now. It's nuts. But still it's a good piece of TH-cam history that big business and Hollywood has purged for no reason. You'd make a great owner and could turn it around far better than any large firm acquisition change of hands between a cable TV and phone company scheme could, or even attempt to. At one time Machinima meant something. Those days are long gone. But they did happen. And I hope you do manage to acquire it and restore it to some glory.

Sounds like they may have turned Machinima and it’s content into a tax write-off. A bunch of content, particularly animated and children’s shows have been removed from HBO Max lately for the same reason. The company gets to say that the content isn’t profitable, and gets a tax break for it- as long as they never profit from it again. So the content disappears.
People think tax write offs are free money. They're not. All they do is soften the blows. They still would have lost money on this tax write off or not.

Also, Neebs Gaming and Lowbrow were able to get Battlefield Friends and Sonic for Hire back through Rooster Teeth and now both series are back to producing new episodes. RT is the best way Charlie could get in touch with someone to try and acquire Machinima.
Oh boy, 7 years ago I got involved in a whole thing with Machinima that ended up having Keemstar, Pewdiepie, Leafy, Pyro god you name it getting involved - the most stressful christmas of my life in my early 20s when all I wanted was to maybe not have slightly less than half my earnings being given to me. Never thought i'd outlive that company, still get flashbacks whenever I see it's name appear.

Found Mr. Sark and APL through Machinima and even now they'll bring up stories about working there and the shenanigans they dealt with. They made the best of it along with Seananners, Hutch, etc but trying to improve the channel was like pulling teeth. If you can't gain the videos back doing a podcast with them would be dope. When shit hits the fan Sark usually says, "Ya know what this reminds me of? ...Machinima."
You need to hire a corporate lawyer in the state that Warner Bros corporate headquarters is in, and have them send certified legal request. Pretty sure that will get their attention. They will know how to not only contact, send the legal offer, and actually close the deal with all the i's dotted and t's crossed.

I was one of the Machinima Directors back when they had the Director program prior to changing into an MCN and...yeah, despite it feeling cool to have your stuff on the main channel and making some decent cash for a high schooler for a brief time, it was an awful experience. There were some great ppl that I dealt with (Micah and Joel were awesome), but the actual management was terrible and their contracts and agreements were super sketch. Lost two channels to their lifetime contracts which they offered to me as a minor, they were super strict about me not being able to re-upload my stuff to my own channels so now everything I ever made for them is just gone after they wiped everything without warning, etc. The only reason I was able to keep a third channel I had with them was because I literally emailed Aaron Debevoise (CEO) and made a deal with him to not cause a stink about the other two channels and let them have them if he'd at least give me the third one back. I ended up just deleting them all purely out of spite lol

Hey Charlie, last I knew, machinima got merged into RoosterTeeth. I'm pretty sure they're managing their catalog as a bunch of their stuff was on the RT first app at some point. Roosterteeth even had to order the 8th season of sonic for hire by low brow before they went independent. You might want to start there.
Not quite correct, but close. RoosterTeeth is owned by the holdings company Otter Media (owned by WB Discovery), who through a consummation also owns Machinima. Otter Media's main website appears to be dead since mid-2022, but the company is still fully operational. Their archived leadership page is now out of date, but from a quick search it was easy to find that Sean Kisker is now the head of Otter Media. If Charlie should try to contact anyone, it should be him. I have some potential leads on contact info, but I wouldn't want to post them here out of respect for his privacy. If Charlie sees this message, either he can use his better contacts to find out for himself or I can help as well!

Sark and APL still give me so much joy and entertainment to this day. They are hands down my favourite duo, I'm so happy they still stream together (Charlie collab when?). Hutch and Nanners were also a big part of my high school days. I miss those days of gaming. :,)

they bought machinima to park value and avoid taxes. they de-listed the videos in order to attempt to maintain some amount of value via scarcity. they're not interested in selling it to you because the goal is to sit on it until either the tax-deductible depreciation value makes it worth the investment, or until they can sell it to someone else for 90% of what they bought it for, which plus the taxes they avoided paying by buying it, would make it profitable. it's extractive capitalism, the goal isn't to produce anything, it's to mathematically exploit the resources available for maximum value over time.

Charlie, what actually happened is Warner dissolved Machinima as an entity, and gave a vast majority of their properties to Roosterteeth. That's why you can find things like Forward Unto Dawn and Inside Gaming on Roosterteeth's site, which is quite fitting considering that Roosterteeth started the Machinima genre before Machinima snatched up the name. IIRC, Neebs Gaming, the guys who made Battlefield Friends, had to reach out to Roosterteeth in order to get their show back in order to make new episodes for Battlefield 2042.
As someone who grew up on Machinima videos, I don't see why it couldn't work in the modern youtube era. literally just let creators upload on their own channels and keep the brand recognition
Honestly I agree it was a great time in TH-cam history, it still can work most of the old hosts are still around so it wouldn’t be a bad look to get most of them back and turn it into what it used to be with a few shows doing highlights recaps and what not
Still, that isn't enough as animation is expensive, even for something as simple as Battlefield Friends. They need outside support from investors like Machinima where they can contract creators to get a guaranteed product. When animators try to self publish, they are at the mercy of TH-cam. Having a contract with media companies like Machinima guarantees that they would get a fair share of their work but at a fixed rate... however, if they become viral, they'd usually lose out from the additional revenue they would have gotten from that, and that's where the drama in Machinima started.
I remember watching machinimas a decade ago, it was the best content at the time and gave highlights to creators that have massive audiences today, and it would to great to see those videos again depending on whether the creator wants to have them be unprivated. I do hope Charlie can buy machinima from WB and see what he can do with it. Good luck man.

The thing that annoys me about Machinima is how even with how irrelevant it is, it's name naturally invades most search engines. I have to specify I want to watch *a* machinima, as in the medium of scripted web film using a video game or some other type of digital software engine as opposed to custom animation, not machinima the youtube channel.

idk how much they paid before hand, but my idea is that ur not gonna get paid well because its there brand, u get a sub boost, view boost, new traction and like a 30-40% cut of how much the vid would make. anymore then that is just dumb for the company to do

Especially with a guy like Charlie who's willing to lose money on the project, at least, creators get 100% revenue (excluding TH-cam's cut), Machinima has brand names and ads going through their website, or that's required to be put in Machinima videos, or something like that, and then the creators also get a cut of whatever money is being made off the ad deal. A super scummy and greedy owner wouldn't do something like that, but, again, with it being Charlie specifically, it could absolutely work.

Hey man, really glad you want to buy this treasured channel. I really hope you can bring back the glory days and original idea of what machinima was back! So many content creators might be brought to light if the channel comes back. Heck, machinima was the reason why i started to teach myself animation and video editing for my actual channel.
Machinima as a brand still had great nostalgia potential, it had a whole content genre named after it after all. Bring it back as a community focused channel. Have a small flexible team, or maybe even an individual act as a “head” who works with interested parties that pitch an idea for content, and then upload a high quality project once a week or month. Make a Machinima upload be a site wide event!
Being completely honest, this'd buy WB a *lot* of goodwill for minimal effort. Just making it happen however they can, even just engaging with the concept. Have Ricky the intern track down the Machinima account password and haggle over the price a bit. Watch in a flash as a library of lost~ish media becomes unlost and what that does when you aren't nickle-and-diming the entire public for it.

I know some of the Machinima assets went to Rooster Teeth. The main Twitter account got converted into a page for one of Rooster Teeth's channels, and there was a Transformers animated series that Machinima produced that ended up being finished by Rooster Teeth.

whenever I think of Machinima, I think of the many old shows created in game engines, especially Halo Forge shows like RvB and C&P (although I'm not sure if that second one was produced by Machinima or not), to me that is synonymous with Machinima. I spent a lot of afternoons after school watching the latest episode of Red Vs. Blue and other Rooster Teeth stuff. It's a shame that sort of content has fallen out of the mainstream, I really loved those days. I hope you can eventually make Machinima at least a fraction of its former self, I would appreciate that like nothing else.
I think you are confused with the term machinima and the channel Machinima. None of that was made by Machinima the channel nore was it on Machima's channel. RvB for example was on Rooster Teeths channel as they produced it. The term machinima is the genre of video that all of those shows are. Using the game engine to essentially animate out a show.

I guess it was meant to be a gag on high school life, but there were two spartans who I'm pretty sure were meant to be brothers (with one being fairly well adjusted and the other being a bit of a douche), and the 'best friend' type character was a really stupid elite called Deuu with a really annoying high-pitch voice. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain the old videos were removed, not privated. I've used a few links to old videos (namely Quick Build Challenge) and instead of the "this video has been privated" message I used to get, it now says "this video is unavailable." Could be wrong though, and youtube could have just changed their error message system, idk.
I checked a video that was formerly uploaded to the machinima channel called “Transformers: Titans Return | Aftermath and Rebirth” from 2018 and the link for it takes you to a page saying that it’s privated. This might mean that there’s at least some of the original content that could potentially be accessed someday.
So ... any updates? did WB refuse to sell machinima? or did they agree but wanted to much money for it? Hope this is still in the works, machinima could turn from a dry husk , to gloriously moist !

There was a time when "Machinima" referred to any scripted video game movie. It was ubiquitous like saying "google it", if you said you were watching or making machinima it was known you were talking about that Red vs Blue style of scripted content. I was on the Respawn roster, had 5 of their top 10 videos and was a... well, I can't say it on the comments, close to beating GuNNiT235's Legendary Fake Nuke before MACHINIMA pulled the rug. I believe these videos have all been deleted. I had a playlist of old ones and the warning on TH-cam reads: "One or more videos have been removed from the playlist because they were deleted from TH-cam."
What I do find hilarious is one of the axe-men, or women, who just carved the main channel's directors program and BRUTALLY so, ended up starting her own career as a content creator. I forget who they work for now, but she callously fired all the directors who made videos except a few. She then later, after Machinima shut down had the stones to complain about her videos being removed... but what about all the creators she fired? Hahaha. It's funny.
Probably for the best you didn't take the Machinima pill. They apparently awarded the odd good contract during Mw2, the good one, not the husk of a game wearing it's skin from 2022. But quickly wised up to the act and only offered trash. Lifetime contracts with terrible splits, 3 year contracts with terrible splits. They also had requirements, you needed certain minimums to even apply, which was aggravating. If you were a smaller creator you'd have to jump through hoops just to get the trash contract to ride out. So spend a year grinding to even get the opportunity for a contract that locks you in forever or quite awhile with garbage pay. Their requirements were higher than the TH-cam partner ones now. It's nuts.
But still it's a good piece of TH-cam history that big business and Hollywood has purged for no reason. You'd make a great owner and could turn it around far better than any large firm acquisition change of hands between a cable TV and phone company scheme could, or even attempt to. At one time Machinima meant something. Those days are long gone. But they did happen. And I hope you do manage to acquire it and restore it to some glory.
I remember how big you were in the industry of fake videos. That was a fun time.

Sounds like they may have turned Machinima and it’s content into a tax write-off. A bunch of content, particularly animated and children’s shows have been removed from HBO Max lately for the same reason. The company gets to say that the content isn’t profitable, and gets a tax break for it- as long as they never profit from it again. So the content disappears.

Get in contact with Rooster Teeth for the information you need. They are owned by the same shell company under the Warner Bros umbrella. Also you should allow the Machine Cinema gaming community to make submissions like they did in the old days.
Also, Neebs Gaming and Lowbrow were able to get Battlefield Friends and Sonic for Hire back through Rooster Teeth and now both series are back to producing new episodes. RT is the best way Charlie could get in touch with someone to try and acquire Machinima.

Oh boy, 7 years ago I got involved in a whole thing with Machinima that ended up having Keemstar, Pewdiepie, Leafy, Pyro god you name it getting involved - the most stressful christmas of my life in my early 20s when all I wanted was to maybe not have slightly less than half my earnings being given to me. Never thought i'd outlive that company, still get flashbacks whenever I see it's name appear.

Found Mr. Sark and APL through Machinima and even now they'll bring up stories about working there and the shenanigans they dealt with. They made the best of it along with Seananners, Hutch, etc but trying to improve the channel was like pulling teeth. If you can't gain the videos back doing a podcast with them would be dope. When shit hits the fan Sark usually says, "Ya know what this reminds me of? ...Machinima."

You need to hire a corporate lawyer in the state that Warner Bros corporate headquarters is in, and have them send certified legal request. Pretty sure that will get their attention. They will know how to not only contact, send the legal offer, and actually close the deal with all the i's dotted and t's crossed.

I was one of the Machinima Directors back when they had the Director program prior to changing into an MCN and...yeah, despite it feeling cool to have your stuff on the main channel and making some decent cash for a high schooler for a brief time, it was an awful experience. There were some great ppl that I dealt with (Micah and Joel were awesome), but the actual management was terrible and their contracts and agreements were super sketch. Lost two channels to their lifetime contracts which they offered to me as a minor, they were super strict about me not being able to re-upload my stuff to my own channels so now everything I ever made for them is just gone after they wiped everything without warning, etc. The only reason I was able to keep a third channel I had with them was because I literally emailed Aaron Debevoise (CEO) and made a deal with him to not cause a stink about the other two channels and let them have them if he'd at least give me the third one back. I ended up just deleting them all purely out of spite lol

Hey Charlie, last I knew, machinima got merged into RoosterTeeth. I'm pretty sure they're managing their catalog as a bunch of their stuff was on the RT first app at some point. Roosterteeth even had to order the 8th season of sonic for hire by low brow before they went independent. You might want to start there.
Not quite correct, but close. RoosterTeeth is owned by the holdings company Otter Media (owned by WB Discovery), who through a consummation also owns Machinima. Otter Media's main website appears to be dead since mid-2022, but the company is still fully operational. Their archived leadership page is now out of date, but from a quick search it was easy to find that Sean Kisker is now the head of Otter Media. If Charlie should try to contact anyone, it should be him. I have some potential leads on contact info, but I wouldn't want to post them here out of respect for his privacy. If Charlie sees this message, either he can use his better contacts to find out for himself or I can help as well!

they bought machinima to park value and avoid taxes. they de-listed the videos in order to attempt to maintain some amount of value via scarcity. they're not interested in selling it to you because the goal is to sit on it until either the tax-deductible depreciation value makes it worth the investment, or until they can sell it to someone else for 90% of what they bought it for, which plus the taxes they avoided paying by buying it, would make it profitable. it's extractive capitalism, the goal isn't to produce anything, it's to mathematically exploit the resources available for maximum value over time.

Charlie, what actually happened is Warner dissolved Machinima as an entity, and gave a vast majority of their properties to Roosterteeth. That's why you can find things like Forward Unto Dawn and Inside Gaming on Roosterteeth's site, which is quite fitting considering that Roosterteeth started the Machinima genre before Machinima snatched up the name. IIRC, Neebs Gaming, the guys who made Battlefield Friends, had to reach out to Roosterteeth in order to get their show back in order to make new episodes for Battlefield 2042.
As someone who grew up on Machinima videos, I don't see why it couldn't work in the modern youtube era. literally just let creators upload on their own channels and keep the brand recognition
Honestly I agree it was a great time in TH-cam history, it still can work most of the old hosts are still around so it wouldn’t be a bad look to get most of them back and turn it into what it used to be with a few shows doing highlights recaps and what not
Still, that isn't enough as animation is expensive, even for something as simple as Battlefield Friends. They need outside support from investors like Machinima where they can contract creators to get a guaranteed product.
When animators try to self publish, they are at the mercy of TH-cam. Having a contract with media companies like Machinima guarantees that they would get a fair share of their work but at a fixed rate... however, if they become viral, they'd usually lose out from the additional revenue they would have gotten from that, and that's where the drama in Machinima started.
The problem is the reputation of it, so many innocent creators got fucked over so you’d definitely have to rebrand

The thing that annoys me about Machinima is how even with how irrelevant it is, it's name naturally invades most search engines. I have to specify I want to watch *a* machinima, as in the medium of scripted web film using a video game or some other type of digital software engine as opposed to custom animation, not machinima the youtube channel.
Machinima re booted in 2022 could be a dream for new gaming content creators same as it was in 2013 ofc minus the predatory contracts etc.

Especially with a guy like Charlie who's willing to lose money on the project, at least, creators get 100% revenue (excluding TH-cam's cut), Machinima has brand names and ads going through their website, or that's required to be put in Machinima videos, or something like that, and then the creators also get a cut of whatever money is being made off the ad deal. A super scummy and greedy owner wouldn't do something like that, but, again, with it being Charlie specifically, it could absolutely work.

Hey man, really glad you want to buy this treasured channel. I really hope you can bring back the glory days and original idea of what machinima was back! So many content creators might be brought to light if the channel comes back. Heck, machinima was the reason why i started to teach myself animation and video editing for my actual channel.
Charlie is getting more and more ambitious in using his influence and favorable position. And im all here for it
Machinima as a brand still had great nostalgia potential, it had a whole content genre named after it after all. Bring it back as a community focused channel. Have a small flexible team, or maybe even an individual act as a “head” who works with interested parties that pitch an idea for content, and then upload a high quality project once a week or month. Make a Machinima upload be a site wide event!

Being completely honest, this'd buy WB a *lot* of goodwill for minimal effort. Just making it happen however they can, even just engaging with the concept. Have Ricky the intern track down the Machinima account password and haggle over the price a bit. I know some of the Machinima assets went to Rooster Teeth. The main Twitter account got converted into a page for one of Rooster Teeth's channels, and there was a Transformers animated series that Machinima produced that ended up being finished by Rooster Teeth.
There was also “Sonic for Hire,” an animated series which also got picked up by Machinima and continued by Rooster Teeth.
If thats the case then it sounds like its owned by time warner.

whenever I think of Machinima, I think of the many old shows created in game engines, especially Halo Forge shows like RvB and C&P (although I'm not sure if that second one was produced by Machinima or not), to me that is synonymous with Machinima. I spent a lot of afternoons after school watching the latest episode of Red Vs. Blue and other Rooster Teeth stuff. It's a shame that sort of content has fallen out of the mainstream, I really loved those days.
I hope you can eventually make Machinima at least a fraction of its former self, I would appreciate that like nothing else.
I think you are confused with the term machinima and the channel Machinima. None of that was made by Machinima the channel nore was it on Machima's channel. RvB for example was on Rooster Teeths channel as they produced it. The term machinima is the genre of video that all of those shows are. Using the game engine to essentially animate out a show.

If you happened to be one of the people who got fucked over by the channel, wouldn't you want your content back? Or to see it possibly become something good? There are some really good ideas, that with the right ownership, could make the channel redeem itself. It'd need some strong rebranding but it could help a lot of content creators back. When Machinima Snapped away the Sonic 4 Hire series, I struggled with the thought that I could never watch it again. Very grateful the community found a way to reupload to the entire series

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain the old videos were removed, not privated. I've used a few links to old videos (namely Quick Build Challenge) and instead of the "this video has been privated" message I used to get, it now says "this video is unavailable." Could be wrong though, and youtube could have just changed their error message system, idk.

I checked a video that was formerly uploaded to the machinima channel called “Transformers: Titans Return | Aftermath and Rebirth” from 2018 and the link for it takes you to a page saying that it’s privated. This might mean that there’s at least some of the original content that could potentially be accessed someday.

I remember when the Machinima website started up when I was in High School, and I remember how awesome a lot of the content was. That was where I started watching Red vs Blue, before Rooster Teeth went their own way. I support this endeavor 100% and I shall pray for your success.

Machinima is so nostalgic for me , back in the day only the best channels had the machinima's intro , if Charlie really buy this i hope he find some good youtubers to be part of it .
Charlie is a great individual and I definitely think he would be a really great leader for machinima also if many channels are spreading news that Charlie brought back a channel to life then the channel machinima would probably become a huge success.
Please buy them out. Even if they deleted the videos, you'd be able to bring Machinima back to it's former glory.
There was a time when "Machinima" referred to any scripted video game movie. It was ubiquitous like saying "google it", if you said you were watching or making machinima it was known you were talking about that Red vs Blue style of scripted content. It's so sad what happened to the brand as it is a huge piece of internet cultural history. Props to you Charlie if you can make something happen.

Neebs gaming's animated series battlefield friends was one of my favorite things to watch back in the day and when they stopped working with machinima all the videos were taken down now the only way to watch them is archives and reuploads.
