  • We kick off the December holiday season with a not-so-cheap box break…we splurge on some basketball cards from 1992-93, it’s Fleer Ultra Series 2!
This is basically the “rookies and traded” set, so all of the big rookies are here…and there are some BIG ones: Shaq, Zo, Sprewell and Big Shot Bob Horry! There are also some inserts to chase too: Rejectors, Playmakers and All-Rookie Team. And to make sure some stars from Series 1 were featured here too, Ultra added a Jam Session subset, so we can get our fix of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Karl Malone and more!
With only 175 cards in the set we found a lot of duplicates, with as many as 5x of a few players. But this meant that we generally found at least 2 of all the biggies. Tune in to see what we find!
As always, like, comment and subscribe. Thanks for watching.

Yeah me too - I was Shaq crazy back then, and honestly when I ripped the packs, I got Shaq crazy all over again. Really fun nostalgia rip!

Stockton was better than Thomas. Sorry but Stockton is somehow underrated

As a Knicks fan, I have no love for Isiah Thomas. And I completely agree that John Stockton is somehow underrated.

It’s always fun to watch pack openings from my era of collecting (1987-1997). I will say that remembering opening these when they came out was MUCH more enjoyable because of all the potential these rookies and other players still had. This is fun to watch for nostalgia but it’s a bit of a disservice to the actual hobby of “collecting” to just blow by so many good players (and good stories) just to get to a Shaq or a Jordan card. It takes a lot of the actual fun out of the hobby just to focus on price guide values. For instance, you could have flipped the #1 dunk rank of David Robinson around to show his leading dunk per game average or mention that Chris Morris actually shattered a backboard on a dunk. Still a good video. Also, back in the day when these glossy cards would stick together the trick we’d use to separate them without damaging them was to just hold them up to your mouth and lightly breathe warm air on the cards to easily separate them. :)

I appreciate the feedback. I've been doing this for a few years now, and I noticed that the average person watches my videos for between 4-8 minutes. So in recent years, I've begun moving quicker through the packs...especially products like this where I'm finding 3x and 4x of the same cards by the end of the break. It's a good reminder to try and slow down a little bit during my breaks. Please let me know any other feedback you have on my videos. I'd like to up my viewership, but it's been a long, slow, 3-year climb. With that said...these cards were a HUGE deal in 1992-93 for me. I was 10 years old and everyone was hunting for Shaq, Jordan and Zo at the time. The nostalgia definitely hit me when I was going through the packs, trying to find the big names in the Rejectors set and Playmakers. Thank you so much for watching and commenting though. Have a great day!

I didn’t really know the difference between series 1 and 2 until a few years later when I started buying the Beckett price guides. But oh man, those years from 92-99 were my original collecting years too. Lots of great cards and memories. Wish I kept my original cards in better shape!

I paid about $80 for the box on eBay. And sorry, but I’m not selling cards at the moment.

The Rejectors insert set is the rarest at 1:26 packs. Based on eBay sold listings, some of those cards in a PSA 10 could go for around $200. The Shaq All-Rookie insert is probably the next best card, followed by the Shaq rookie card and Jordan Jam Session from the base set. Those last few cards have sold for a little less than $200 in a PSA 10. Non graded cards only sell for a few bucks each. In other words, you’re not going to retire from selling these cards.

I remember going through hundreds of that exact same pack. Had similar luck to you. Lots of repeats.

By the halfway point of the break, I’m basically just rooting for inserts!

Same here - I was 10 when these came out, but everyone in my class was looking for Shaw and Zo to go with their Starter gear!
