You can actually just insert the SD card back in when it's off then turn it back on and it will automatically update without having to go through the menu.
The camera doesn't turn on unless it is plugged in. I was referring to the short cable for the camera to plug into desktop do it would turn on. Another video stated using short cable not the longer one. It still is not working. The firmware update downloaded to card but doesn't download to camera when I reinsert the SD card. Waiting to hear from VIOFO.
@@loeyheart50 That's strange. I hope it works out. Mine was quite smooth. I downloaded the firmware to the SD card, reinstalled into the camera, powered it on, and it automatically updated on it's own. Not sure if this is a newer feature since I bought my camera last month and it had the most recent firmware before this latest one.
I have an IMac and I followed the info exactly and it will not update. I'm on v.2.6 and trying to update to v.2.7 . I'm using the smaller cable plugged into USB port in back of computer then to side of camera. When I turn camera on, I get an icon of the USB cable and it freezes there. If I plug usb into GPS port, it turns on and the buttons on camera work but still no firmware update.
I don't think you can update with a cable. I took the memory card out and dropped the file directly into the card, then put the card back into the dashcam. Maybe try using a PC if you can. Macs are always weird about transferring files.
You need to right click on the file and there will be an option to to select "open with" Then you select the program of your choice. But you shouldn't be opening the file. You just download it and drag it onto your SD card. Then when you put it into the dash camera, it will unpack and I stall automatically when you turn off the dash camera and turn it on.
My new Viofo A119V3 will arrive in two days and I’m really glad I found your video. Thank you for the detailed instructions.

I did it but I don't think mine one is updated.
Try doing it again. It won't hurt it.

Hi, where have you found the 2.7 ? There's only the 2.6 on Viofo web site. Thanks
2.7 is not out yet. He might be using a different model camera. 119v3 is only 2.6 right now.
Do i have to do it for the new sd card viofo a119 v3. I have to format it at my laptop?
Yes, you need to format it. But I think you can also format it with the dashcam.
Hi, When I download firmware. It's loaded as a VLC file. Any solution? Thanks.
