Another great video, so thanks for that, good camera work too. I have just treated myself to a 70th birthday present, I replaced my secondhand (worn out) Tikka T3X for a new Tikka Aspire in 243win. I'm just sorting out the balistics, then out I'll go. I tend to hunt alone. I have one place for goats near Queenstown, but alway looking for new spots! Could you give me a pointer of where a 70 yr old could go? As you will know, the NZDA have just held a big goat competition, so the goats will have been hit hard. I'm not after culling numbers, just some freezer meat. I'm coastal Ashburton.
Bloody surprised that first billy took that shoulder hit so well, had deer hit at similar distance with that same load and similar shot placement go down faster. Even with the soft bullet, it is heavy and slow and with less material resistance there is more energy going out the other side. Interesting seeing it side by side with the fast and light 6mm creed which I'd say now is arguably a better choice for goats.
Yeah he took it bloody well as it was a perfect shot placement. They can be very tough but over the years I've been wary of taking a shot on animals lying down. My recent stag did a similar thing with rem mag. I think the shock travels differently through the skeleton when they lie down and organs move a bit.
@@dallasnewson6977 I find the eldx very good also but a bit harder to get your hands in here and more expensive. Plus they are slightly tougher jacket and still fragment/wound well to around 1600fps, the eldm will go to 1400fps which is amazing really. Due to the amount of long range shooting I do I like the huge wound channel and also I use the rifles for competition shooting too so accuracy has to be top notch for both hunting and competition. If you regularly shoot large animals or use a fast cartridge against tough game like large boar shoulders then a tougher bullet is needed. Especially as you go lighter in bullet weight. I find after 162gr area then the bullet has enough mass to keep punching through, even if driven fast into a hard target up close.

@@hamitbektas2730 they are a cool product and add something to the footage but I'd recommend starting out with a cannon sx60hs. They are older model now and can be got very cheap for what they do! That's what I use for all the footage of the shots
