    Hi Mac,
    I am new to fly fishing (hopeless at it actually) but nonetheless I still love it, anyway I met this fellow on the river who took pity on me and gave me a fly that he said I would make a killing on (even with my casting hahaha) he was so right i caught 7 trout in 40 mins and lost it a tree, when I got back to the car the man was gone, I don’t know what the fly was called. But if you take requests on fly tying videos here goes. It was a nymph, the body was light olive feathers, tail was black, it had small gills that were black, wing case black. I have never seen a fly like it before and I wish I asked what kind of fly it was. Maybe you can give it ago and make a video. Cheers.

      @Makflies  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Green Quartz,, I can tie on request no problem but I need to know the Name of Pattern, There are lots of unrecognized Flies people tie, and catch lots of Fish, Any way keep up the fishing you will get there , We all had to through this lol,,
      Regards
      Mak

      @greenquartz8531 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Makflies that’s the problem I don’t know what the fly was called. The feathers on the body where CDC, the tail was black, wing case was black and the legs where black, the closest fly I have seen is the mercury baetis nymph, but this fly had a totally feather body. Thanks for the encouragement, my casting is horrid (but I’ll get there one day fingers crossed) as for tying flies I think I’ll let you professionals handle that area.
      This fly was the best thing I have ever used and I am hoping I bump into this old fellow again I’ll buy 1000 off him lol.

    • @Makflies
      @Makflies  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol.. I am sure you will see him again, remember its not always same fly works every day, if that fly / Nymph was working that same day , might not work next day, it all depend on Fish , What & how they are feeding on, You will learn as you go along, I suggest buy a Match the Hatch Book
      Regards

      Makflies he said this was a secret weapon and he only gave it to me because he walked past me on the river and saw my casting skills hahaha.
      I understand everyday is different but he said this fly works when nothing else will, but what would I know I have been doing this fly fishing thing for 5 mins compared to some people.
      I have been back twice and never seen him again (mind you he was old 78) I still think someone must know what this fly is called, but like you said, “people make up there own files” but I do remember clearly that when he opened his fly box there was 5 rows of these flies in his box.
