I just used the Gold Plan for a right hip replacement. God Bless CHM because without them I wouldn't have been able to afford my surgery. Also, the free teledoc service for basic needs is awesome.

To clarify. It’s not insurance. Insurance is regulated and this plan design doesn’t meet the requirements of an insurance plan. It feels like insurance but technically it’s not. Also, I noticed you mentioned going to the ER for practically everything including a UTI. This makes since since an ER visit will guarantee that the cost is over $500 or $1000 as some comments have shown. Based on this type of usage, good luck on the plan being solvent.

Hey--I'm well aware that it's not insurance. They are very clear about that, and it's explicitly stated in their contracts. As an RN with a husband who is a Charge Nurse in our local ER, I am well versed in what should be treated in an ER vs. Urgent Care vs. Doctor's office. Unfortunately, the majority of ER visits *are* for non-emergency chief complaints. While we wouldn't go to the ER for a UTI, many people would. I was just using it as an example. The plan is most certainly solvent--they are one of the oldest and most trusted health sharing plans. However, it's not the best fit for everyone, and I'd never claim it to be. It has been great for us, as we are only looking for catastrophic and maternity coverage, which CHM does very well. We don't typically "go to the doctor' so do not need a plan that covers doctors' visits or minor urgent care visits. I created this video over a year ago, and the CHM guidelines have changed since then, which I've tried my best to communicate in the updated description. My intention was to give a sort of overview to people looking for a health sharing plan and express why we like this one over any of the others out there. I'd expect people will read the CHM guidelines in full before signing up with them.

My question is whether they contact your home church regarding weekly attendance? I’m definitely a Christian and maintain a Christian lifestyle. When Covid hit I did not attend due to my elderly parents and I living together and currently I’m looking for a new church but we always watch our Charles Stanley. Where two air more are gathered, there I am also. Would I not qualify? Thanks for any help. I would very much like to be part of this ministry.

Thanks for the video. You might want to update it since they signifigantly raised the requirements.

They really did. I can imagine I'm not the only one pretty darn frustrated. The entire structure has changed, really, with the addition of the "$1000/person/year personal responsibility." We may be looking into some other options, once we've closed out the cases we currently have open. Thanks for leaving a comment about all this!

We getting our invlices in order so we'll see how smooth that process is. Its a headache trying to get our hospital to give is itemized bills.

Now the deductible is $1000 per person per event.

Yes, it's unfortunate. Although if I remember correctly, isn't it just $1000/person/year as far as personal responsibility. It's just that an event has to reach $1000 before being able to be submitted for covearge.

Hi! I just saw in a comment that you mentioned some frustrations with their new structure. Have you found a replacement that you like better? I am so torn on signing up with them or looking for someone else! Thanks!

No, unfortunately, Samaritan has also restructured this way. There is no better option that I have found.

@@3141jrichy it is exclusive for US residents. You have to have a US mailing address to participate but it is available for someone who lives temporarily abroad as a missionary for example.
