    After a few months of using this on my a6700, I still can't believe this is sold for 500 dollars only. For these kind of specs and performance, SoCaNikon would ask 2500+ euros. I think it's just a matter of time until Viltrox will increase the price of their lenses. Also what I love if the fast that APSC is gaining ground again.

    Hi Wes. I enjoy your channel very much. I enjoy the style & presentation of your videos & I find them to be very informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the photographic community. I recently purchased this lens for my Fuji X mount system. I own the Fuji 56mm f1.2 & the 90mm Fuji f2.0. I agree that the Viltrox 75mm f1.2 offers a very good value for its price point. Cheers!😊

    I love this lens, it changed the way i shoot, due to this and other Viltrox 27mm f1.2 I don’t bother with full frame anymore, i sold all my Canon FF. I use these on the Fuji X mount but its the same goodness and results as the Sony as depicted here, in fact i think even better due to the superior color science of the Fuji. My Full Wedding kit is the Viltrox 13mm f1.4, 27mm f1.2, 75mm f1.2 and also some of the Fujis systems, 18mm f1.4 & 56mm f1.2. You can get all the Bokeh you could ever possibly need an APSc today.

    This Lens replaced my beloves A7 III with 135mm 1.8 Sigma Art lens, and somehow it outperforms the full frame combo - at half the price and half the weight - its insane. The character combined with the Fuji colors and film simulations is such a nice combo that i use less and less time for raw processing, cause the SOOC jpeg's are just sooooo good. I still shoot RAW+JPEG for the archive, but man... i rarely refer to the RAW files anymore, only if there was extreme challenging light and needed further processing.

      Hi. So you're still using the 75 Viltrox on your Sony A7III if I got it right? Because I got the same Sony camera but I'm not sure the crop factor will take too much quality from the picture, because I shoot with Fujifilm as well where I could use the full sensor capability.

    Well, the 23mm f1.4 (which my son is currently using) was great but the AF was so-so and the vignette was pretty extreme. It was a great lens for us. The 13mm f1.4 is tremendous so I am not surprised by this lens. Viltrox is a serious contender in third party lenses.

      @@berzoidberg3272 There is a clear AF difference between the rigs, the XH2 is very lens dependent on shooting wide open. I have missed way too many shots wide open. I had a couple’s shoot last weekend, using Sigma 18-50. I shot at F5.6 no eye af on and I was happy with it. The 75mm is the only one I feel I can trust wide open.

    Great review.
    Wanted to know if there are any updates on af performance after firmware update 1.0.4 in dec 23 as people say that it was not reliable for fast moving subjects like birds in the very first firmware?
    I am in the market for buying one.
    I currently have sigma 18-50 f2.8 for my a6700, looking to have a prime now-- confused between sigma 56 f1.4 and the this viltrox 75.
    Performance wise 56 seems to be reliable.
    Wether sealing, image quality wise viltrox seems better. Also this will add a bigger focal length for my use.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have to multiply both numbers.
      Yes, it will give you an f/1.2 amount of light on APS-C, but that’s still 1.5x less total light than a full frame f/1.2 lens would land on a larger full frame sensor. Additionally the Look of the bokeh etc is the same as f/1.8 on full frame.

    Hi. Lovely clip, I'm definitely sold for this lens. My only dilemma now is, I don't know for which camera I should buy this lens for?! I have a Sony (7AIII) and a Fujifilm (XT4), now the lens will work in APS-C mode anyways so that is maybe the lesser issue? Or does the lens provenly work better in one or the other environment? The other issue or question is, it seems like the E-Mount version has received some significant improvements over the XF version, like a focus hold button, de-clickable aperture ring, and most of all the E Mount version has "real" weather sealing with a visible rubber gasket and further seals inside the lens. Does anyone have experience on these aspects or some advice ? Thanks in advance, cheers

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m afraid I don’t know much about the differences between the e and x versions of the lens
      As far as which Sony, you do lose a lot of resolution and dynamic range by shooting it on a full frame body then going into crop mode. Certainly not ideal. That being said, I only have full frame Sony’s and I still can’t let go of this lens. I like it too much. I use the a7iv though, which gives me more pixels in crop mode thankfully.

    • @trezegol2007
      @trezegol2007 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@WesPerry Thanks for your fast reply. You're right, the crop factor is an issue especially if I stay with my 7aiii, the x version will give me full capacity from the sensor. On the other hand the weather sealing is an attractive plus to have gives one that more flexibility. I guess it's hard to decide, I believe on a Sony the lens makes sense if I upgrade to the 7aIV, on the Fuji it's just ready to go.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@trezegol2007 Very weird to me that the fuji ones don't have weather gaskets on the back. that's the first I'd heard of that and you do seem to be correct. I wonder if that's something that Fuji is forcing on them to allow it on the mount: so that only Fuji branded lenses can be advertised as weather sealed.
      Canon does one worse, and only allows lower quality and APS-C lenses on their new R mount. They won't let third party manufacturers produce lenses that will directly compete with anything Canon actually makes. Really customer hostile stuff. Hopefully fuji isn't getting into that...

      @@WesPerry Cool! I cross my fingers too, what I've heard from Viltrox is that they have a very good customer service overall, so I hope for an honest no-BS answer from them. Going back to the previous, that's the tricky situation I find myself in, my inner feelings tell me that I'd prefer to have this lens on my Fuji camera, but the couple of improvements on the E version are not really to be ignored and annoy me a bit why they exist in the first place. If you use the lens on a full frame you need indeed to keep in my the crop factor, so make sure you have a big enough sensor , which means a more expensive camera.

    • @WesPerry

      the both seem a little tight for astro, but over the Viltrox is a better lens. The Sigma is Good, but older, and not built to nearly the same exacting optical standards (and thus Size!) of the Viltrox. It's literally the best APS-C lens on e-mount.

    Since it would be F1.8 full frame equivalent, would the Samyang 75mm 1.8 on a full frame body give the same image quality and bokeh?

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have to do the conversion on both numbers, it would be a 112.5mm f/1.8, so the Viltrox will have greater compression and thus larger bokeh.

    • @robertmarx7901
      @robertmarx7901 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Another thing to consider is that a F1.2 full frame and F1.2 APS-C lens lets in the same amount of light, so although the bokeh and focal length will change on an FF equivalent lens the amount of light entering this lens and hitting the sensor, will be far above that of a F1.8 full frame lens.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertmarx7901 the same amount of light per square inch yes, but a greater amount of total area on a full frame camera, so a a greater amount of light in Total is gathered, which results in a proportionately higher iso performance and dynamic range.

    If you want use FF body it doesn't make sense to get this lens. For APSC it's a gem. It was either the Sigma 85 1.4 for me on Sony or this on Fuji and I went this because it's cheaper, has an interesting focal length that I've enjoyed more than 85mm.
