    The 251 to me is the more mix ready vocal and the 67 has a great vibe to it second.

    They all sound great! The 47 sounds like it has the most high end lift.

      I agree ...the WA47 was a lot brighter than I thought it would be in this comparison ... I probably would have picked the 67 as the 47 in a blindfold test

    I'm surprised by how similar they sound. Wasn't really a meaningful discernible difference that couldn't be addressed with a few dbs of EQ here and there and a de-esser.

      That’s exactly what I thought. I’m beginning to think that selling microphones is 90% marketing.

      That’s why I use a U87. With post, the only significant difference between a 67 and an 87 is that I don’t need to haul a PSU around. Having said that, to my ears, the 47 has a really noticeable, inimitable wool that I can’t replicate even closely. It translates as better openness later, which is weird considering it’s low mid. No idea why that is.

      i always thought the same about digital amp sims vs real tube maps with a mic in front of them. solo'd, many sources sound the same. when you put them in a mix and eq/compress/fit around other elements, subtle differences like harmonic content becomes more apparent. but it's good to start with a rough idea of the sonic character of any given mic.

    All of these mics sound good. To me the 47 and the 67 both really outpaced the 87 and 251 in both samples. But I'd be very happy with any of these mics.
    Order in which I liked these mics.
    Female
    1= WA-47
    2 = WA-67
    3 = WA-251
    4 = WA-87 R2
    Male
    1 = WA-67
    2 = WA-47
    3 = WA-87 R2
    4 = WA-251

      Amazing the 47 for female and 67 for mane since it’s usually the other way around! However, since every voice is different, no mic fits all.

    Awesome shootout, but I do wonder how the mics would sound with a male baritone.

    These vocalists and excerpts don't highlight the differences between these mics as well as they could. The dynamics are pretty constant, the female singer has a forward, nasally, almost strident voice that is going to make all the mics sound forward. The male vocalist a little less so, but results in a similar outcome. Which is why the differences between mics are pretty subtle. And I was surprised to hear the 47 sound slightly more bright than the 251. Definitely not how most of the real mics out in the wild sound.

    For the lady 251 followed by 67, followed by the 47 followed by the 87r2. for the guy the 251 followed by the 47, the 87r2 then the 67.

    I think Warm Audio has gotten better at making mics over the years. I think the newer CX12 and WA47 Fet sound incredible. As far as these ones go I think the 67 is easily the best sounding mic.

  • @johne1599

    How about using a male vocalist with a deep voice?
    I suspect that’s where we might hear more difference between the mics.

    251 and 67 matched the song and the female. The 87 and 47 matched the song and the male. This is the reason why I have a bunch of LDC mics in my arsenal. They are like paint brushes on my palette

    Am i the only one thinking the 251 (not only warm audio version) sounds way too aggressive? Top end is really screachy. Loved the 47 on her and 67 on him in the mix. Soloed both sounded nice on the 87 but that might be because it came straight after the 251

    • @busyboxst7
      @busyboxst7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's more about how much monkeying around you have to do behind the scenes to get it to sit right in the mix. Time is money, or more importantly, money is time and a chance to buy back your time is typically worth it if you can afford it.
