The boxes of candy in the US, typically are a “movie theater box” now they’re sold everywhere, but usually anything in the movies lean towards using a box. It’s easier to pour and share with others around you.
Hey, loved these videos when my aunt watched them. She was a big fan of yours and she got a few packages from the links you have as well. Sadly, she recently passed away, and I wanted to say that you guys made her last year happier, she loved a lot of food channels, and yours was one of them.
In America, we have a store called Cost Plus World Market where you can get candy, snacks and drinks from many different countries. The products actually do come from those companies so they are very authentic. I love when I'm taking trips around and stop into this shop. I can get so many cool treats that I i otherwise wouldn't get to try.
I could have sworn that when I lived in the UK until I was 6, in the 80’s, Salt and Vinegar crisps were definitely in a blue packet for Walkers. Then they changed it to green later!
Salt & Vinegar is like a clover green in Canada, which is weird they just don't use the same colour as the American bags. We use green for Sour Cream & Onion as well
Loved this segment. You need a cute bear eye mask like Tami Dunn. Thank you for mentioned her channel many years ago. We still watch them daily since then! As a salt and vinegar fan. I will have to try the walkers salt and vinegar. When I got to British shops (we have a lot around here) in Ontario Canada. I always go with things that we don’t have at all. Love Skips.
Salt & vinegar is my favorite flavor and the more sour the better for me, so I’ve hunted down the strongest American brands. My favorite is Hen of the Woods Red Wine Vinegar (made in my home state of Ohio) and lately I’m also enjoying Boulder Canyon Malt Vinegar & Sea Salt. I also like Deep River Snacks Sea Salt & Vinegar.
An interesting part of the Lays (Nashville, TN) story is that they merged with Fritos (San Antiono, TX) in 1961, then the Resulting Frito -Lay merged with PPSICO in 1965. Then, the first Nationally Produced Doritos was in 1965-66. Being from Texas, it's hard NOT to recognize the importance of corn-based snacks in Texas and the U.S. Southwest. That influence comes from multiple North and Meso-American tribal cultures honoring "The Three Sisters' (Corn, Beans, Squash). Part of Mayan human-creation story is that mankind was created from white and yellow corn (maize) after multiple failed attempts using other materials (mud & wood). I love food history. Cheers!
I'm fairly sure that the biggest differences between Lays and Walkers are a) a different variety of potato with different growing conditions and b) they cut Lays thinner. We have better potato growing conditions over here in the UK so potatoes taste of more.
"hopefully wikipedia is right otherwise I'm giving false information", this is why I watch these channels. This is one of your most critical and decent videos (e.g why did Britain tone down the flavour with the Doritos?)
What a fun new series. Although I haven't had the UK's version of the Cool Ranch Doritos I would agree with this assessment. Honestly Lay's isn't one of my favorite chip brands and I always find their flavors a little lacking. Salt & Vinegar is definitely a stronger flavor in the UK though. Movie theater candy comes in boxes instead of bags. I'm not really sure why because both are equally loud.
In Canada, the Cool Ranch Doritos sold out quickly and became scarce during the pandemic for some reason. The other Doritos flavours were readily available but Cool Ranch were hard to find.
I love Maltesers here in Canada they are way better than Whoppers. I was told by a chip supplier years ago that Cool Ranch for some reason are more popular in the summer. I believe they at one time in Canada were really not as available in winter but I believe that has changed now.
I personally love Lays Salt and Vinegar Chips/Crisps over Sour Cream and Onion! And I will agree with you that about the Lays S&V Crisps...that if you have just one the flavor isn't that strong. But I will say the more you eat them the stronger the flavor gets. That's why they're slogan is "Betcha can't eat just one." And I still have to try the Walkers kind. One of these days I'll get them.
Also, I gave my mom some Maltesers from a Candy Box because she loves a malt (like a milkshake with malt powder) and she didn’t care for them. Said she didn’t think the chocolate was very good 😆 (she does prefer dark chocolate though lol)
I like Whooper so much better than Malteasers. Whoopers come in theater boxes like you had and cartons with a spout that you pour them out of. The cartons are much bigger than the boxes
I'm in the USA and I'm old enough I think that the Whoppers candy definitely used to taste better. I'm not a big fan of "regular" Hershey's chocolate anymore. Now that I've discovered (UK) Cadbury, Milka and Arnott's Tim Tams, I can't go back, lol. The company I work for has a "candy cart" brought around to everyone that works in the office on paydays. I tried a Kit Kat and hated it.
American here. I prefer Malteasers to Whoppers. The chocolate is better. It doesn't surprise me that salt and vinegar chips/crisps are a British invention. The seasoning is similar to fish and chips with malt vinegar. You're right that Hershey has bought a lot of smaller companies. Scharffenberger Chocolate was originally a small producer in Berkeley, California. They sold out to Hershey, who said they would leave the brand alone. Within a couple of years, they closed the Berkeley factory and changed the products.

Fun new series🥰 looking forward to seeing more of this series
3:04 In Australia our salt and vinegar is pink, blue is plain salt, green is usually chicken flavour

Sorry for your loss, but that's lovely she got lots of happiness from this channel
Comparisons are so fun!! Love this new series!!! 🎉
great idea for trying snacks

That shop sounds awesome. We need to check it out when we're next in the US!

Love these showdowns definitely make more 😊
That was really fun!!!! Thanks Kate and Alex!!! Have a great week.
Salt & Vinger definitely used to be blue and cheese & onion was green!
You can buy Malteasers in boxes in the U.K. Been available like that for decades.
Salt & Vinegar is like a clover green in Canada, which is weird they just don't use the same colour as the American bags. We use green for Sour Cream & Onion as well
Love this idea guys. Oooh I've tried all of those products and agree with you 100%
Love the idea. Thank you for beeing you. Love your videos. You Are my inspiration ❤
This was fun!

When I see a green bag of chips I think it's sour cream and onion flavor. This comparison of products is very interesting. Great idea 😊
yeah I quite often think that too!! So glad you enjoyed watching
Golden wonder was before walkers. Walkers have always been green, but golden wonder was blue

We have maltesers here and whoppers and I prefer Maltesers

Red ( and yellow) are appetite stimulating colours, henc3 the reason they are on so many fast food/food logos/packaging

South African malt balls are the BEST. They're made by Cadbury's and are called Whispers. They leave Whoppers and Maltesers in the dust.
I really like the strawberry Whoppers!

This is gonna be fun! I don’t really like either Whoppers or Maltesers but prefer the crunch of the Whopper. Though I hate everything Hershey. 🤷🏼♂️

As an American, I do not like Whoppers, at all. However, I have tried Maltesers and I love them!

The Cool Ranch Doritoes from the USA are my favorite chip.
Never seen Cool American Doritos here in France!
in my town in Ontario Canada we have both Maltesers and Whoppers. I have mainly seen Whoppers only at Dollar Tree.
Hard to find Malteser's but I prefer them over the whoppers. Sometimes I can buy large malted milk balls which are better.
I like Whooper so much better than Malteasers. Whoopers come in theater boxes like you had and cartons with a spout that you pour them out of. The cartons are much bigger than the boxes

Funny thing about the whoopers, they often come in a cardboard box that looks like what we’d buy a quart of milk in.
no way!!! haha now i need to see the quart of milk haha
I live in Canada and our Salt and vinegar chips are also in a green bag
Now I want some Doritos. 😋😋😋
i believe any Hershey's item you find in the US will be from Canada, the Hershey factory here is HUGE.
American here. I prefer Malteasers to Whoppers. The chocolate is better.

As a half-Canuck half-Brit, I'm team UK all the way here!
I like some walkers better than lays. It depends on the flavor. I also prefer maltesers over whoppers. They are lighter and not as hard
Hi Kate and Alex
Walkers in America sakt n vinegar are in blue bags. Hard to find walkers lately.
American living in Canada. Love Whoppers but can’t get them here. 😢 Can’t stand Maltesers! It’s definitely what you grow up with that tastes better.
Here in France the blue Doritos are very different to both the USA and UK. They’re awful here tbh lol
Dorito salsa verde is the best
I really don’t like Salt and Vinegar crisps, as I don’t like vinegar, it makes my lips sore/itchy!
Salt and vinegar walkers definitely used to be blue
Whoppers are sickeningly sweet. Better before Hershey took over. Malteasers are so, so much betters.
shame they had to change the recipe! yay so glad you enjoyed Malteasers
From when I been to Lanzarote I find Lays are much better not greasy and better flavors
Ooo interesting!! Makes sense as i feel like Europe has a different health standard
I saw in another TH-cam video that Cadburys sold in the USA is made by Hersheys.
Yes!! So a lot of people think its the same when it's not
I’m not a fan of Whoppers, I prefer Brachs malted milk balls.
This did not surprise me… salt and vinegar and malted milk balls are more popular in England… so I’m sure they make them better…?
When I see green I think sour cream and onion
Yeah!!! Definitely
Doritos were created at Disneyland in the 1960s.
I have miss you s
