  • "I don’t get wrapped up in moments very easily. You train to step into the box and shut out all of the noise and shut out the situation and just do your job. But I think in that moment I think I am going to need to step away and just appreciate it and maybe let myself get wrapped up in that one moment." -Mike Yastrzemski
The Yastrzemski last name had not been announced in Fenway Park since 1983, a sentiment that Hall of Fame, Carl Yastrzemski acknowledged before the Giants and Red Sox kicked off a three-game series in Boston. Mike Yastrzemski really soaked in that moment in the fourth inning when he hit a home run over the center-field fence,

I've been a Carl Yastrzemski fan since age 8 in 1967 and throughout... was there in Cooperstown for his induction in 1989. Yaz was my favorite player for all those years and then I retired from watching the game. But then about a couple of weeks again, while surfing the net on Yastrzemski news, I ran across Mike Yastrzemski. The last time I checked he was playing in the Orioles minor league system, so I was pleasantly surprised to see he had made the majors... traded to the Giants... but what was even more amazing was how well he was doing! Then I read about the upcoming series and would have loved to be in Boston for that series. It was awesome to see the video of the Yastrzemski reunion... Mike hitting the homerun... Carl throwing out the first pitch to Mike the day after. I guess you can say I've come out of retirement and now have a favorite player again. Yaz was my favorite player and now he is again! I'm happy for Mike and Carl - for I know they're a class family. It's very sad that Mike's father passed away... but hopefully he was there looking down on Fenway as his father and son made baseball history.

What a fantastic moment ! I hope YAZ stays with us for a long time ! He already feels like a true Giant, much like how Buster felt when he came up.

Destiny... I can't imagine the emotions... Congratulations Mike Yastrzemski! Your grandfather was my hero when I became a Red Sox fan as a young girl of 9 years old and I would have tears of joy every time Number 8 would come to the plate and then hit a home run. You brought me those same tears and chills the other night when you hit that ball out of the park and the past met the present where impossible dreams do come true.

I became aware of Carl ~1975 my first year of Little League. My Dad was from New England and he was a big Boston fan. I remember Yaz, Fisk, Game 6 and the Green Monster. In '77 and '78 my Little League team was the Red Sox, so I became a big fan. Fast forward and I am watching my Giants play and there is a Yaz playing for the G's. Grandson of Carl....wow. Mike Y is one of my favorite Giants. Keep up the good work Mike!!

I'm a Yankees fan since 1977 and this is a wonderful moment for the younger Yaz. I remember going to my first game in '77 when I was only 7 and saw his grandfather play. One of many Sox lifers who never got a ring who deserved it. Most moving video.

Yaz was and is New England. His overall excellence and professionalism were the foundations of his Hall of Fame career and only Yaz's Red Sox are the true Red Sox for me. Always. When Mike played at Fenway with those Giants, it was a thrill just to see 'Yastrzemski" on his uniform. Mike is off to a great start and I wish him a long career and much success.

Now it looks like it's Grandson Mike's turn to make some noise and put some numbers up. Grazie mille. Again great video and ? A note of history. Ciao.
