I like the way it ends with Alisa's statue. Another sequel would just ruin that. I think if there was going to be another game similar, it should be more it's own thing (especially since it's been so long now). It could be an alternate timeline set even before PSI and you get to go after the Great Light. And it's revealed why they split to begin with. Call it Phantasy Star Origin or Dawn Of Phantasy Star, something like that.
Careful what you wish for; Think of Final Fantasy 4: The After Years, Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, et all before you go about requesting additions to your favorite old school RPGs. Sometimes... you get them. Final Fantasy 6 was my favorite classic RPG, and I hope they never do anything more than a remake of it. >.>
This was the saddest ending to me, besides Lufia II, because the fact that everyone had such a close connection to each other, and then it ended and they have to part ways forever. Especially with Wren and Demi knowing that they would eventually become obsolete, and Rune wandering the star system alone
What's saddest of all is Rika's fate. She may be the most improved, but they all grow up fast and are meant to die young. (They were meant to be living weapons after all.) So her life with Chaz will be quite short... But they can still give each other the best years of their lives.
@@jayesper4390 What’s ironic is that Rika ended up outliving Chaz, who died of an illness before he was even 30. Rika later became a hunter in Chaz’ honor to look after their half-Numan son.
There is something more sad and depressing about this than Alys death true it means that peace is restored and evil is no more but contrary this means that the hero is leaving his companions who accompanied him friends leaving and never seeing each other again is more sorrowing than ever to me that is even sadder sega sure knew how to get you emotional and happy at the same time at least there was a happy ending chaz and rika were together ever after this generation of games were the best and I am glad I got to grow up with these classics
At the same time, I recognise than PSII introduced some really novel elements, in the form of Kain's and Hugh's techs. That aspect was heavily downplayed, at least on the living enemies since none of those was on a permanent member, and those seemed redundant mostly even when they often worked unlike in PSII. I dunno, I feel like PSIV still could have been a better game (or sequel if you will) than it was, even though it is mostly perfect and enormously enthusing. (It's just the tight difficulty of II that seems just right to me, and keeps me coming back along with the atmosphere!)
I find i hard to type this right now.... even 5 years after completing my 4th play through of PS4..... im 22 and im still crying like a baby right now.... this was the end of such a good game..... nothing will ever be like it
+Matt Brine i know. i felt so bad for chaz, too. i thought rika was going to stay with wren and demi. he would have been completely alone because alyz was dead. this is definitely an original classic that's one of the greats.
+Mitchell Bird It also made me sad because it was the end to a great journy too, imagine going across the solar system in a fucking high tech space ship and visiting other planets (would have been nice if a certain prision satellite hadn't impacted Palma) and venturing into all kinds of dungeons and caves (the tech dungeons where my favorite like the Biocenter, Motavia Plate Control, The Machine Center, Zelan, etc) Then it all comes to an end, Wren leaves with the Tyler and I guess theres no way they'll ever meet again, as its not like the Agol system has the technology anymore to contact the other planets or space stations orbiting Motavia. (Then again, I'm sure that wren would be able to see a very big bright light from the planet surface, as a way to contact wren be like "Hey get down here with the freakin tyler and do shit with us! Lol) The only thing that made the end less sad for me and was kinda expected was when you see chaz and rika together like they're Husband and Wife. I wonder what the children of a Human/Numan (Not the numans from PSU) relation would produce :P
i know. what a bunch of assholes. like as if they can't come visit once in awhile. lol and i know what you mean, doing all this cool stuff and going back to a normal life all of a sudden.
The Phantasy Star games were epic. Some of the most memorable games from my childhood. They never had any direct sequels and perhaps that's for the best, but i believe most of the games took place FAR into the future, there were some references though small to past games. But each game was really it's own, you didnt have to play the others to get into the story.
looks this game feels all over to us on Covid19 lost it everything to us on Covid19 Pandemia too sad don*t force to feel it end now this game guys have more games to played with!? 👍😄😄👍
Wait, was there some romantic relationship between Rika and Chaz? I cant remember all the cutscenes perfectly, because its mainly about whats going on.
Kind of. It's a little bit implied as the story goes on but is never outright said. It can be seen here in this ending that a relationship has formed between them. Chaz is only 16 and Rika is 1 according to the game. So it's only teenagers essentially, but yes there is a relationship formed there. Especially since Chaz lost the only person ever close to him.
@@TheZaaz If you look at some of the dialog from the optional hunters guild missions you can see minor growing familiarity and banter. Also Rika takes over most of the text Alys used to have when you interact with the environment.
They could always go another 1000 years into the future of Algo. Maybe this time return to a high tech society that unintentionally revives the Dark Force and they have to rediscover magic
But the 3rd happened in different solar system. According to the Theory of special relativity time dilatation may occur. Which PS3 happened 2000years after PS2 according to people in PS3, but in Algol perspective it might happen the same era as PS4.
It's the way it is in game as well. Pretty sure the English cutscene takes longer than the japanese one, so the music isn't long enough to cover it anymore.
Top 3 best story telling for sure.
Tears falling down seeing it again after many years. ;_;
I loved this ending, one of the best ever for an rpg.
I love this game! My favorite rpg.......ff7 is second on my list and ff4 is third.
That music.... It's happy and heart-wrenching at the same time.
That is without a doubt... I say it's the best of all RPGs for it's era.

I think that’s what Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 was suppose to be.
You just described the Phantasy Star Online series
Love how Chaz had like one more megid in him based on TP. That feel when you know you close but don't know if close enough. That the epicness of game
One of the great game on Mega Drive in my memory!

@@jayesper4390 dude, I've been playing this game for 17 years now and you've just made the ending even more sad to me.

@SaitohYatate Yoshido was cruel with that outcome for Chaz

I agree with that.
I remember almost paying $100 for this game.
It was definitely worth it.
Might be the best RPG ever made. At least top 5.

@@jayesper4390 TBH, their storytelling and their character development made the game much better.
Facts!
This was the last love letter SEGA gave to the fans in the form of a game. ...(sigh)
One of the greatest JRPGs ever. It is horrible what they did to the series in the Dreamcast + age.
It's maybe one of the greatest RPG's of Sega Genesis History :D

Such a happy ending!
Those spacecraft is a astrium aircraft-like,it combine turbines n rockets.
My favorite rpg of all time. It's that good! Much respect to a great game.

Yes boys don*t cry 😢😥😔😔

Couldn't agree more, and yes FF6 in my opinion was the best of the entire series.
if they made a sequel to this it would be so nice
Thank you so much! I loved see this great game again!
as a blond haired, green eyed, guy, this was fundamental lol
Lol that start.
Pew!
Make it look so easy.
I love this game
What would make it even better is that he would go to alys's grave and say "thank you...for everything..."
carcinoGeneticist H.S. I think he means Alys that was with Chaz at the beginning. Alis is from Phantasy Star 1.
I still have many fond memories of this and the other game with the same name, a GREAT adventure indeed.. =^_*=
Someone give me a tissue
Fantastic game.
come on Sega, stop being cowards and make Phantasy Star V already!
Kinda hard to since PS IV was technically the end of the series plot wise. Only way to continue this series is to create prequels.
Sometimes it's better not to make any sequel. Any sequel will potentially ruin the whole series.

Sega here you go *Gives people PSO*
Way better than any Final Fantasy
Definitely
I went on this to see who is kept in the team

Rika+Chaz= (Add something please)!!!
Chaz x Rika
Shift + Crosscut
By the way... ps2 reference
