What little of the chocolate that we should eat. I put cocoa powder in my oatmeal that's about the only chocolate I eat.

Watching this video really helps keep me going on my health journey. I’m watching this for the 10th time now bc I ate Chinese fried food and crab Rangoon (not part of the plan). The part where Dr. Lisle talks about being 3 days away from regaining self esteem is what I need to hear today. Just completed day 1. Lol Thanks for recording this video

Nice interview with Dr Lisle's crotch:-) But on the serious note, the guy is brilliant and your interviewing skills Chef AJ are just amazing! What struck me this time is how he described the after binge feelings and your shot self-esteem...That is so true. I had a one short relapse last week and had some healthy bars (1500 cals or so) and they were so healthy I didn't even feel bad physically at all. But mentally I felt like shit the next day and maybe a little the day after that. But I got right back on my plan again and I'm fine now. Just 3 days. It's true. Thank you!

99 percent of the time I eat only whole plant foods, so my body is not used to handling processed food... 2 days ago, I saw some vegan processed delicacies ordered by my friends about to be thrown into the garbage... my "free food!" circuits overrided my "healthy eating" circuits. It really wasn't that much processed food. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. 2 days later I am still having bad odor from my mouth, gas and indigestion like I always do after eating processed food now that I'm used to going without...
So things to tell myself next time this happens:
    a. junk food belongs in the garbage
    b. the food went into the garbage before it reached the plate, when it was processed

I feel way healthier eating the plant-based whole food diet now. Now that my saturated fat is below 3 grams daily, I believe my cholesterol will drop a lot in the blood test I have in 1 week. It wasn't over 200, but triglycerides were high and HDL was low, with a steady increase in total cholesterol over about 4 tests (1 year).
I think the chance of a heart attack or stroke will be so low if I continue with the diet that it is a major motivator. I'm thin, so I don't look 'normal' now, but I keep cardio fit and do some bodyweight stuff. I just want to be strong and fit, not caring about size.

I think you make many good points, and are certainly eating the right food. How do you know that you are not orthorexic? Also, why is this program so all or none? It seems like you adhere to alcoholic dependency model for what you call food addiction. Furthermore, if you know with all your heart, that you are eating the right food, you will go back to eating if you stray. Also, I think if you eat an unprocessed food, processed food might not taste good but bad...unnatural. I don't believe in will power, but I believe in motivation. If you are motivated enough, you will do it. I have not read The Pleasure Trap but I do not believe that moderation is a myth, I believe that there is a myth about a moderation myth, and maybe our believes around moderation, shape whether we can moderate or not. I am reasonably sure that I can moderate. I have chocolate in my cupboards but I probably will not eat it anytime soon because it is not a healthy food choice. As for why people don't stay on healthy diets, I think most people don't understand what a healthy diet is. I used to think eggs, cheese, and milk were healthy food choices. I agree with the comments about self-esteem, and I would suggest practicing self-forgiveness. On the other hand, I like the idea about three days. Doctor Lisle makes everything sound so reactive, primal, and innate, but we do have the ability to reason, so I think that our behaviour goes beyond being simply reflexive. So what happens to the Pleasure Trap, when it comes to folks who can sense calories? These people do not seem to be operating to the laws of the pleasure trap. Bailey's weight loss was due to Chef AJ controlling her caloric intake, not to the pleasure trap. I disagree with Chef AJ's comment about panic disorder, because we should panic when a pit bull attacks us. Fear is necessary at certain times.

Dr. Doug Lisle is the best. Everybody should also check out his weekly Podcast "Beat Your Genes" with NateG on www.blogtalkradio.com/beatyourgenes. Such amazing and important information nowhere else to be found and wonderfully presented as only Doug Lisle does. I just love that man :-)

    * Suggestions in how to take what we "learn" to actually "implementing" it? I've READ, BELIEVE & TRUST all your teaching but cant seem to put it in place . . . frusterating.

When I emotionally eat, I always over eat way too many plain potatoes prepared quickly in my microwave.

@@Gbdevaux jeff novick and John McDougal have good talks /videos about this. Your stomach will only hold about 3 or so pounds a day. So 3 pounds of potatos = 1200 calories. Now maybe of your adding sauce or other high calorie dense toppings that will change things
