    I bought a Bushranger 53tku7, 53cm cut, Kohler engine, steel deck, NO "SAFETY BAR", side eject. Really good mower, ended up putting lock washers on the folding handle levers which stopped them from coming down after running for a short time. Steel deck doesn't matter. Starts on 1st pull. Really liking it. First new mower in 30 years.

      I loved mine for a year then the side of the deck broke open and bushranger didn’t want to know about it 😅
      Still one of the top mowers on the market though just going to rebuild the side of it now and have it as my bush basher 😅

    I brought bushranger for the shaft drive it's a heavy beast but I just utilise the self propelled for everything , great mower when I got it I mowed 3 of my neighbours lawns including mine cause I couldn't stop lol

    Yes recently got a bushranger. There a pretty good mower. There’s a grove along the top on bushranger which makes the Honda catcher fit pretty well on the back of the bushranger except the bottom not perfect. But I agree that catcher not easy to put on as a Honda. I’m use to the old Honda 216D s. So the blade break thing doesn’t bother me. But one advantage the old 216 D has is the back wheels hang out further than the deck so can easily be lowered down steps like a trolley by one person which is a great advantage in my area lots of properties have steps.

    I’m not sure if I should go the bushranger 48AL7M or the Honda HRU19 for domestic use for my new kaykiu lawn , what do you reckon cobba

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both aren’t bad options mate but I love my hru as they’re a better unit but have the price to match. Bushys aren’t bad for own use but I tore a hole in the deck within 12months of commercial use where my Honda lasted 3 & my old one still starts first pull after ten years 😅

    A few reviewers have mentioned Honda’s fast wearing wheels/tyres. Any solution for this, other than to keep paying Honda for new wheels more often?

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the best solution with Honda wheels is to buy the nock off brand wheels for the mower you’re using, heaps cheaper. I always try to stay genuine with parts but wheels it doesn’t matter to much 🐝

    Great review. I'm looking into purchasing a Bushranger SP. I do have a few lawns that require me to take the machine up some stairs that I won't be able to use a ramp on. Can you get this machine up stairs (about 6) without a ramp?

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest mate the deck sits weird for pulling up back would on stairs, Like my Honda was awkward but doable where this thing even on 3 stairs at a customers house it’s a struggle.
      If you can get held of one to test might be worth giving it a go, stairs and rain is definitely this mowers weakness. But you also might be stronger than me and yeet it up there easy as 😆

      I have heard good things about victa but having not had any of their gear myself I can’t give a personal recommendation.
      If I ever get the chance to review one will be sure to Chuck it up on here though 😄

    Can you please explain why it performs so poorly in the rain?

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not completely game over in the rain but does seem to block up within the deck more so than other rotary mowers I’ve used. Since this video my whole deck got several holes on the deck within one years use also so no longer recommend Bushranger at all 😅 their customer service is rubbish.

    Would you go self propelled over normal? I’m the guy who leaves the lawn go wild and knee high. Are the belt drive mechanisms likely to get damaged with long grass and rough yards? Thanks

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate self propelled every day of the week over push saves your legs & time.
      As long as you keep the servicing good & go with a good brand like bushranger or a commercial Honda they last. Had my Honda before the bush ranger for eight years only things replaced was wheels, Gear box twice & deck once. (Obviously small things like spark plugs, blade ect a lot more) but yeah I’d go self propelled.

    • @Rushdie01
      @Rushdie01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yaksmowing thanks for the information and experienced reply mate. I hear that the catchers clog on self propelled as if it’s a real problem when doing long grass. Is this something I’d have to check on every few metres or not really a big deal?

    • @yaksmowing
      @yaksmowing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Rushdie01 not to much of a problem mate, empty it twice on a standard length back and front.
      Most of your commercial self propelled go as hard as your pushies if not harder as they’re always moving forward.🤙

    Honda 216 vs Bushranger 800SP?
    Specific review from the man who owns both.
    They seem like copycat machines. I guess what I’m asking is which one should I buy. I’m gonna go look at both, but I’m keen to know. Which should I buy? Why?

    i couldn't recommend bushranger from a commercial or personal position at all. on the commercial position there very hard to get parts for. especially the 196cc engine as the whole thing is made in china and with how things are going there, shipping is extremely delayed. all the shops in my area couldn't even get air filters for that engine for other a couple of months. let alone other parts. another thing to consider is pricing. the top of the line bushranger with the Honda engine costs about $1700 but the engine is less powerful then a genuine honda. genuine honda uses the 5.5hp engine. bushranger uses the 4.3hp. also bushranger doesn't fit a blade brake. so you pay the honda price but actually get less and a hard time getting parts. also there's no after market for this stuff. heck even the bolt threads are odd. you have to get bushranger bolts because literally no other bolts you can buy from say bunnings will fit the thread.
    on a personal point they are not Australian made. its all Chinese despite their claims (lawn mowers at least) if you look up weibang lawn mowers you'll see their decks are very similar. they even use the same 196cc engine. another thing to point out is they don't allow negative reviews on their site. I tried to post one up less then a month ago on the 196cc self propelled and its never actually gone up for people to see. absolutely cant support a company that prevents negative reviews.
    all in all don't go with bushranger. unreliable parts supply, rebranded Chinese products, expensive for what your getting and dodgy practices.

      Fair opinion mate, I haven’t got to the point of needing to do any maintenance on it yet bar the normal blade, oil & filter changes… My local mower shop was pretty confident in supplying any gear needed for it though but we shall see 😅
