Hannah returning after a long absence is the equivalent of the return of the Super Bowl. It’s a massive event. Also, your hair looks amazing, as expected.
Piranesi is sooooo good! After reading it, i found out the author has the same illness as me (Me/cfs) which is a disability that made her homebound. I think this shows in the book quite a bit (with the focus on "the house", the sense of loneliness, the underlying feeling of wrongess) , but you do not need that information to enjoy the book at all. There is sooo much to think about un these few hundred pages. Truly an encredible book
I was struggling with my own health a few years ago and was rereading Piranesi with my book club at the time. I was like "wow, this is JUST like being chronically ill" only to realize that Susanna Clarke is in fact chronically ill. In her acceptance speech for the Women's Prize she dedicated her win to chronically ill women artists who are struggling to create, and it actually moved me to tears. I wish you strength and rest in the days ahead.
talking about gothic horror to do with houses - please read the haunting of hill house!! shirley jackson is such an incredible writer and i still think about this book constantly
I’ve been an IWTV girlie since it started airing in 2022 and I am sooooo happy that you’re here with us too!! Louis/Lestat is definitely my favorite fictional couple of at least the decade, maybe ever, I am Always thinking about them in some way. That’s ROMANCEEEEE
I read Piranesi this year as well! Omg. I devoured it and want to reread it soon. Definitely an all time favorite for me too. An animated adaptation has the potential to be incredible.
i know! that series was what got me back into reading. but i get how the first book could kind of discourage reading the rest of the series, which i’d argue draws back on that “neutral” perspective in unwinding that she mentioned.
same!! I LOVED reading Unwind as a kid and I feel the same excitement as an adult. Nothing wrong with OP not liking it but ahhh my heart broke a little
I LOVED Piranesi!! A new all time fave! I tell everyone to a) not look up the summary and b) to push through the first 30 pages of confusion lol. I love the Easter eggs/ tie ins to Narnia too ✨
30 pages sounds conservative - it took me at least 100 to have any idea what I was reading! But I’m so glad I pushed through; it’s such an interesting book and I think I’m due a reread!
Thank you. I had the same problem with Love and Other Words. The SA scene sucked 70% of my enjoyment, and the way it was handled and brushed aside left a bad taste in my mouth because...no, no, no, no. And what's crazy is that given how many other booktubers rave about this book, very few mention that scene
HOW did I miss this? I read the book during the lockdown so I don't remember ALL of the details now but still, I feel like that should have been more clear & memorable.
Interview With the Vampire is so incredibly good. Makes some brilliant adaptation choices (elevates the material IMO), and the performances are mind-searing. Just gorgeous stuff.
You’re the first person I see talking about the SA in “Love and other words” and I’m so glad because I’ve been frustrated about it ever since I read it last year…
It’s so frustrating that most people who’ve read the book and reviewed it didn’t mention that in their reviews bc when I read the book, I was thrown off by the sa and how it was handled. I enjoyed the book (not as much as everyone else) but it’s always bothered me that the SA was just brushed off, and not really taken seriously.
hannah i just finished watching interview with the vampire. and oh my god. holy shit. genuinely one of the best pieces of media i’ve ever consumed, one of the best written shows ive ever seen. louis and lestat have me in a chokehold. i just wanted to thank you for the recommendation bc now i have a new obsession and i haven’t had this kind of joy in consuming a piece of media for a long time❤
Hannah, I just want you to know that I was listening to an audiobook, and the moment I saw my notification that you uploaded, the first words out of my mouth were "Oh hell yeah!!! I've missed you Hannah Azarang!!!" ...ok, going to watch. Carry on. Lol
I AM SO HAPPY YOU FINALLY READ PIRANESI!!! It’s of my top top favorite books along with Night Circus and I was always of the opinion that people who like Night Circus will like Piranesi ❤❤❤ It’s just so good
It’s been literal years and no other home library ever came even close to yours in terms of how much I want the same set-up, the same books and decor and shelves and everything, some of the editions you showed in this video, like Evocation, really remind me of the good old times and the books you used to show us 6-7 years ago. Ugh, so nostalgic 🥹
welcome back, Hannah! I have also been entering a vampire obsession, I can feel it simmering. The books I’m reading to scratch the itch are The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Mistress of Lies by KM Enright, Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler, Lucy Undying by Kiersten White (this one I’m SO excited for because I just read And I Darken by her at the beginning of the summer and that series is for sure an all-time fav - it was done so dirty by the marketing and covers), and finally House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson. Its a vampire fall and I’m so ready for it!
I was in Vienna until yesterday for my first ever Taylor Swift concert and I just got back home, heartbroken and disappointed, but seeing that you posted a new video made me smile
You’re so right about love and other words. I loved that book while reading it but after reading what happened to that character and the fact it was never addressed PISSES ME OFF
Omg I've read Piranesi this year and loved it, but I had no idea it would be turned into an animation, I'm so excited!! The studio that took the project is excellent too, I can't wait for this Btw hannah, I hope you're doing well, I've missed your videos ❤
I recently read Piranesi and absolutely loved it!! Such an amazing book 😍 Loved Mexican Gothic and Funny Story too, that one is also my second favorite Emily Henry book. And Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands was so fun, hopefully you can get to that one soon!
i have read 7 books of the vampire chronicles of anne rice in these two years because i also became OBSESSED with the show when it came out. yeah, anne rice was icky af and weird but BOY her books are like a guilty pleasure... that woman put cocaine in some on those books, and i KNOW you're gonna LOVE the loustat's scenes in the books. I didn't like the book IWTV as much as the 2nd and 3rd book because louis is insufferable in the first half but you can get over it fast because jacob anderson and the show made louis such an amazing character! i NEED you to read the queen of the damned and read the chapter the devil's minion. the show gets so many stuff right, even if it changed. it has the books essence and makes them even better, taking the more complicated themes that anne rice just glossed over, and talking about it.
also blood over bright haven!!!!! have seen nothing but amazing things abt it from all the people who loved sword of kaigen on my tl. i desperately need to read both 😭 i already bought sword of kaigen so i really need to get to it
I'm glad you liked Piranesi and Mexican Gothic. I spent the second half of 2023 reading several Silvia Moreno-Garcia books. I did not read them in publishing order, but here is my ranking of them in the order in which I read them: ~ Certain Dark Things (urban fantasy): 5 ~ Mexican Gothic (body/nature horror): 3.75 ~ Gods of Jade and Shadow (mythological action-fantasy): 4 ~ The Daughter of Dr. Moreau (sci-fi/fantasy action): 3.75 ~ The Beautiful Ones (magical realism romance): 3 ~ Velvet Was the Night (mystery): 3.75 ~ Untamed Shore (neo-noir): 4
omg! i read piranesi last year when i was getting back into reading & it is still to this day my favorite book i have read ever! i didnt know its getting an adaptation!!! im so exciteddd!! i was talking my ears off to my boyfriend about how much i love this book and now we can watch it together :D
My favourite book this year is Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austin - I haven't related to a character this much before in a long time (maybe ever?), I absolutely love Austin's voice and plan to read everything else she's written Least favourite would be Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley - I'd been wanting to read it for years and was sadly quite disappointed, while the art is beautiful, I found the main character so grating and her journey unsatisfying Great video!! 🌟
you are just amazing. and even if i was ad i haven't heard from you or seen your videos for a while, it's obvious how much this break had affected you because you're literlly glowing!!! so happy to watch your videos again💗💗✨✨💖💖
And she finally read Half a Soul 🥰 Maybe we could see a Bear and the Nightingale mention by the end of the year 🥺 if it helps, there are some spooky elements in the book 😂
Good to see you back! Hope you had a fun vacation. I put heartstopper on hold at the library (I know, what took me so long?!) and a sign of affection sounds good so I put that on hold, too!
as someone who read IWTV because of the show last September PLEASE do. it's not as good as the show (imo) but it was soooo much fun seeing the ways it differs but also the times in which the show *directly quotes* the book, while still using the quotes in a unique and interesting way. so much fun for me
Omg yes to everything you said about interview with the vampire😭😭 I also read the book after watching the show but I'd say it's really not as good as the show. Louis being black and Claudia being a teen rather than a child and other such changes just add so much more to the show that imo the book lacks. But it's still worth a try, I think
Just coming back to say OH MY GOD I finally watched the Interview with the Vampire series because your obsessive delight got into my head and I am SO thankful I did!! That show is far beyond anything on TV right now, it’s actually incredible.
Glad u are back from that vacation. Well deserved, Id love a vlog about bts stuff, like how u made the journals or just bookshopping etc and it would be nice content when you dont have that many reviews/are in a slump, im in one rn too so I feel ya
Hi! I found your channel while you were taking your break and binged a lot of your videos, they've helped me rekindle my passion for reading after a long reading slump, so I love that you're back 🥰
i watched the first season of interview with the vampire last september and enjoyed it but then season two began and i just became absolutely obsessed with it!! i’ve rewatched both seasons now and they’re just so incredible - the only other show i’ve ever felt this way about is black sails (which i recommend if you haven’t seen it). i love louis, lestat, and claudia so much and i can’t wait for season 3!
agreed, season 2 is unspeakably good!!! I'm pretty sure I can quote the entire argument scene from 2.05 from memory by now, that's how many times I rewatched it...
I gasped with question 1.5 🥲I read the whole Unwind series when I was like 13-14ish, which is over 10 years ago. I've always thought of it as some of my favourite series. But I'm so confused now, if anything at that time this book further made realise I am 100% pro-choice. I guess I'm going to re-read it soon with my adult brain, looking forward to your Dystopian video!
looking forward to hearing your thoughts on unwind! i read it as required reading in high school but it's been so long i don't know what my feelings about it would be now almost ten years later
I highly recommend Interview With the Vampire! I discovered Anne Rice as a teenager and obsessively read all her books I could find. Her vampire series is amazing. She also has a witchy series about the Mayfair witches which have a few cameos in the vampire books. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about Interview and if you decide to read more of Rice's work!
It's been a while, but I remember loving the Unwind series. If you choose to make a dedicated video for the series, I'd really enjoy hearing more of your thoughts on the book. Because now I'm wondering if it was as pro-c as I first thought, or if i was just viewing it through my own lens... 🤔
I recently re-read it and I definitely don’t think it’s taking a stance either way. It’s about a whole new concept of its own, and if anything it’s promoting the choice to do what you want with your body.
Well, one of my issues with the series is that the concept of unwinding managing to satisfy both sides of the abortion debate felt weirdly based on misconceptions that pro-lifers tend to spread about pro-choicers, because I know for a fact most pro-choicers would not be okay with something like unwinding in real life, but that could just be me 🤷♀️
Interview with a Vampire is so good. I loved the 1994 movie so that was the main reason I gave the tv show a chance and it exceeded my expectations. Setting the show in New Orleans was perfect and the chemistry between the 3 main actors was amazing. Also, I read Piranesi and I thought it was ok. It definitely made me think because the story is really left up to the reader to interpret what is going on. However, I think I’ve realized that I prefer more of a straightforward narrative with less ambiguity after reading it too. 😅
if you need good vampire books, i highly HIGHLY recommend the Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. It's so underrated but genuinely a breath of fresh air when it comes to vampire content since they actually depict vampires as how evil and scary they can be and our main character who gets transformed in one against her will and tries desperately to live with that fact and also find a cure to reverse it. it's urban fantasy and i love those books to death. even 5 stars is not a high enough rating.
You saying you ended up reading stuff about Neal Shusterman that made you like Unwind less made me research and now I don’t know how to feel either. I haven’t read Unwind, but Scythe is one of my favorite books of all time and I feel like his recent statements change that book somewhat
a book with a (somewhat) alive house in it that i absolutely adore is A Treason of Thorns by Laura E. Weymouth - one of my fave books ever, and i think (and hope lol) you'd love it !!
I fell in love with Gothic in university studying Literature, have expanded much further into horror especially in TV shows. I don’t care for slashers or super gory horror, but I really enjoy horror with a fantasy or scifi twist/elements.
omg yes about Love & Other Words! That was my main gripe with the story. I would have rated it much higher, but after the "reveal", I was so angry with how it was all handled. I felt like if it happened to a FMC, people would have been outraged at the way it was written.
THANK YOU Hannah for recommending interview with a vampire, just watched the first season on Netflix and I LOVED it so much! I loved the movie as a teenager, couldn't finish the first volume - oupsie- but this? This was magistral!!!
I've noticed a pattern that whenever I tell myself that I'm NOT going to buy more books, Hannah posts a video with a load of new books that sound absolutely amazing. My tbr is crying as we speak
I had hit a mental speed bump while studying for my post grad exam but seeing your post ❤ I am going to sit back and enjoy. (And probably find eome new audiobook to listen to)
I'm so happy that you're back, Hannah. ❤ And I want to thank you for A Sign of Affection. I've been looking for a really good romance manga for years now and gave up, but since you recommended ASOA I will give it a try and oh my god! I want the next volumes so badly. 😢 I hope you do a reading vlog with spoilers with The Poppy War series. 😊
Thank you so much for saying that about Love and Other Words, I found it especially disturbing since *spoilers* . . . SA of men is so frequently brushed off, and this book is no different. 😤

The super bowl is trash tho
Find the book titled blackrock secrets, you'll learn all the money attraction techniques there. Trust me on this
i googled this book and now im dead from covid. thanks buddy

@@beanbagbooks thank you so much! And I might check out that acceptance speech, that sounds interesting/nice
We love you, Hannah, and love every time you post, but I'm also so happy that you take time for yourself to go on vacation and be a human
thank you so much 🫶🏼🫶🏼
talking about gothic horror to do with houses - please read the haunting of hill house!! shirley jackson is such an incredible writer and i still think about this book constantly
Can we all agree that Hannah's voice is one of the most soothing and heartwarming sounds ever?? Like, I'm obsessed lol
absolutely agree!

PIRANESI MENTIONED!!!! Piranesi my beloved I’m so in love with that book I got the cover tattooed 😭
I GASPED when I you said Unwind was the worst book you read. Literally my favorite of all time. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts
i know! that series was what got me back into reading. but i get how the first book could kind of discourage reading the rest of the series, which i’d argue draws back on that “neutral” perspective in unwinding that she mentioned.

I LOVED Piranesi!! A new all time fave! I tell everyone to a) not look up the summary and b) to push through the first 30 pages of confusion lol.
I love the Easter eggs/ tie ins to Narnia too ✨

Interview with a vampire omg!! The chemistry!! I cannot deal
Interview with the vampire might be one of the best shows of all time
I am obsessed and my brain is definitely broken after watching
Yesss ITWV! Season 2 utterly shattered me; like come one Lestat and Louis are unmatched!
As soon as hannah uploaded, the colours of my life returned again ❤
Interview With the Vampire is so incredibly good. Makes some brilliant adaptation choices (elevates the material IMO), and the performances are mind-searing. Just gorgeous stuff.
yessss more AMC IWTV fans. its so good I'm also obsessed with it!

I AM SO HAPPY YOU FINALLY READ PIRANESI!!! It’s of my top top favorite books along with Night Circus and I was always of the opinion that people who like Night Circus will like Piranesi ❤❤❤ It’s just so good
I'm quite excited for ur review. Dont worry about being awkward. It's okay. We'll still enjoy your content :)
Quite ironic that the ad in Hannah’s video was about the film adaptation of ‘it ends with us’ 🤣.
MY COMFORT TH-camR IS BACK OMG I'M TEARING UP
I should've guessed you'd love iwtv and louis&lestat. Welcome to the brainrot and may we all survive the long wait until s3 in 2026 😭
welcome back, Hannah! Its a vampire fall and I’m so ready for it!
i really liked evocation, it was amazing 🙏🏻 and i’m also obsessed with interview with the vampire show!!
I was in Vienna until yesterday for my first ever Taylor Swift concert and I just got back home, heartbroken and disappointed, but seeing that you posted a new video made me smile

I'm glad you liked Piranesi and Mexican Gothic. I spent the second half of 2023 reading several Silvia Moreno-Garcia books.
I did not read them in publishing order, but here is my ranking of them in the order in which I read them:
~ Certain Dark Things (urban fantasy): 5
~ Mexican Gothic (body/nature horror): 3.75
~ Gods of Jade and Shadow (mythological action-fantasy): 4
~ The Daughter of Dr. Moreau (sci-fi/fantasy action): 3.75
~ The Beautiful Ones (magical realism romance): 3
~ Velvet Was the Night (mystery): 3.75
~ Untamed Shore (neo-noir): 4
omg! i read piranesi last year when i was getting back into reading & it is still to this day my favorite book i have read ever! i didnt know its getting an adaptation!!! im so exciteddd!! i was talking my ears off to my boyfriend about how much i love this book and now we can watch it together :D
Welcome back! I’m glad you’re doing well 💗
I started reading Yona of the Dawn recently because of you and OH MY GOD YOU WEREN'T KIDDING!!! I"m obsessed with it!
My favourite book this year is Interesting Facts About Space by Emily Austin - I haven't related to a character this much before in a long time (maybe ever?), I absolutely love Austin's voice and plan to read everything else she's written
Least favourite would be Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley - I'd been wanting to read it for years and was sadly quite disappointed, while the art is beautiful, I found the main character so grating and her journey unsatisfying
Great video!! 🌟
I read Half a soul just a few days ago and it was such a cozy romantic experience. I keep thinking about the fact that how happy it made me feel.
This probably wasn't planned, but I love that you uploaded again on Book Lovers' Day.
I will quite literally listen to your grocery list if you narrate it as an audiobook. Such a beauuutiful voice my goodness.
youre so real for mentioning interview with the vampire it altered my brain chemistry ITS SO GOOD
I’m so excited to hear you’ve been loving watching IWTV! I’d love a review from you on the two seasons so far 😊
Hannah!!! You are singlehandedly saving my mental health with your videos rn❤️❤️
you are just amazing. and even if i was ad i haven't heard from you or seen your videos for a while, it's obvious how much this break had affected you because you're literlly glowing!!! so happy to watch your videos again💗💗✨✨💖💖
reading conversations with friends and loving it so far, plus i binged iwtv earlier this year and am obsessed!!! love this video!!
And she finally read Half a Soul 🥰 Maybe we could see a Bear and the Nightingale mention by the end of the year 🥺 if it helps, there are some spooky elements in the book 😂
oh how i’ve missed you! i loved your last tv/movie wrap-up and I’d love to hear more about what you’re currently watching.
The sword of Kaigen actually reminded me a bit of Avatar the last airbender (it's a standalone btw)
interview with the vampire mentioned ohhh im sooo up... ive been gobbling up the sdcc interviews too
Just coming back to say OH MY GOD I finally watched the Interview with the Vampire series because your obsessive delight got into my head and I am SO thankful I did!! That show is far beyond anything on TV right now, it’s actually incredible.

@@moose1277 2x05 is A MASTERPIECE!! i’ve also rewatched that fight scene several times, so good!!

The speed with which I clicked this video!!! You're back!
I highly recommend Interview With the Vampire! I discovered Anne Rice as a teenager and obsessively read all her books I could find. Her vampire series is amazing. I recently re-read it and I definitely don’t think it’s taking a stance either way. It’s about a whole new concept of its own, and if anything it’s promoting the choice to do what you want with your body.
Well, one of my issues with the series is that the concept of unwinding managing to satisfy both sides of the abortion debate felt weirdly based on misconceptions that pro-lifers tend to spread about pro-choicers, because I know for a fact most pro-choicers would not be okay with something like unwinding in real life, but that could just be me 🤷♀️
Wow surprised that the sequel to the house in the cerulean sea wasn’t featured in most anticipated! That one is mine for sure
hiii it’s sooo nice hearing from you again! can’t wait to add a dozen books to my TBR as usual 🫶✨
Omgg you are back! I loved you talking about interview with the vampire🤍
if you need good vampire books, i highly HIGHLY recommend the Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa.
I haven’t read Unwind, but Scythe is one of my favorite books of all time and I feel like his recent statements change that book somewhat
hannah is back and she's also obsessed with iwtv? I have no choice but to stan
a book with a (somewhat) alive house in it that i absolutely adore is A Treason of Thorns by Laura E. Weymouth - one of my fave books ever, and i think (and hope lol) you'd love it !!
Yay! Missed you. Hope that break helped you
Yay!!! Time to update my tbr 😌🎖️ Thanks Hannah, so glad you’re back.
I love dystopian books so much! I actually love unwind.
SHE'S BACK
THANK YOU Hannah for recommending interview with a vampire, just watched the first season on Netflix and I LOVED it so much! I loved the movie as a teenager, couldn't finish the first volume - oupsie- but this? This was magistral!!!
So happy your back!
I've noticed a pattern that whenever I tell myself that I'm NOT going to buy more books, Hannah posts a video with a load of new books that sound absolutely amazing. My tbr is crying as we speak
so nice to see you again ❤
edit: ok but video about horror media recommendations when?
I had hit a mental speed bump while studying for my post grad exam but seeing your post ❤
I am going to sit back and enjoy. (And probably find eome new audiobook to listen to)
My entire reading year so far has been rereads because that’s all I can handle 😂 currently on Mockingjay and then hoping to start some new books 🥰
I'm so happy that you're back, Hannah. ❤ And I want to thank you for A Sign of Affection. I've been looking for a really good romance manga for years now and gave up, but since you recommended ASOA I will give it a try and oh my god! I want the next volumes so badly. 😢
I hope you do a reading vlog with spoilers with The Poppy War series. 😊
All i will say is the last episode in s2 of interview with a vampire THAT scene changed me as a person. The acting 🤌🤌🤌🤌
YAYY HANNAH YOU’RE BACK!! we missed you 🥰
Thank you so much for saying that about Love and Other Words, I found it especially disturbing since *spoilers*
