I thought Hugo could win against Liang today, but despite his huge momentum after beating many top players, including Fan Zhendong, the Chinese managed to dominate him 4-1! Congrats to Liang Jingkun, but also credit to Caldearo for reaching the final!🎉👏🇨🇳🇧🇷

Last time in Houston(Nov 2021), it was 3:4 Hugo vs Liang(Liang won). Liang also just won the match vs Malong(3:2). It's Malong, the GOAT. So Hugo and Liang are both tired I guess lol. I would say the audience gave Liang more support there, hope to see more Brazil audience to support Hugo there next time!
Every player knows Hugo's weakness, but Fan Zhendong was playing like a fool. Liang won Hugo 2 years ago. This time he used the same strategy to win Hugo.

Hugo is a little too rush during the match sometimes, maybe he's thinking he can win after beating the top players to get to the final. He has a chance to win but Liang has a tough mind and a cool head. Congrats to both of them and thanks to their efforts in this exciting final.
I also noticed that toward the end Calderano would try to make each shot harder than the last which, tempting as it is, usually results in an error. Meaning he could have used a more conservative shot to stay in the point instead of going 'blammo'.
If you are a long time TT fan, you would know Liang ever won Hugo 2 years ago with 4:3. This time Liang made it easier with 4:1. It's the exactly same strategy used by Liang to play against Hugo, because Hugo has never improved his weakness.
@@ditml6796 Fan also used the same strategy but he lost to Hugo, Liang definitely did something different to avoid making the same mistakes again.

Hugo playing “ all in “ as usual. Congratz to Hugo for reaching the final beating stronger players than LJK. And congratz to LJK for beating Hugo pushing and blocking, just keeping the ball in play. Tactical war.
This shows how strong is the Chinese' table tennis system, they are not about one top player or individualism. If you beat a Chinese player, their whole team will start studying your plays in order to beat you and keep the honor under a Chinese name.
I believe when Hugo beat Fan, he was already locked on by the Chinese team, the Chinese team will use all the resources they have to help Liang get the W in the final, and they did.
Kudos to Hugo anyways, what a huge WTT run.

Hugo is 28 years old, he has been studied for 9 years at least by the CNT. They know they cannot outpowered him, so they have found other strategies.
you know what Liang never loses to Hugo and has 4 wins before, as I know China team coach just told him to stay focused instead of providing him new strategies to win before the game.
FZD played a stupid game and lost to Hugo. In Chinese broadcast, they heard the coach telling FZD several times not to play the short balls to Hugo's forehand too often, but FZD seemed to be determined to not change his strategy. He lost at least 10+ points on that end.

It just show it is possible to beat any one of the Top 3 Chinese table tennis player in a tournament but to beat all of them to become the final Champion remains relatively rare.
Nevertheless, Hugo played extremely well here and deserved all the recognition. 👏👏👏
Hugo is still not playing at the top in terms of strategy. You cannot take a serve and return it like a dolly and hope to rally afterwards. Whenever he hits a half shot he retreats 2 steps. His strategy in the first game evaporated for some strange reason afterwards. Congrats Liang on getting the winning mindset.
si yo tambien creo que Hugo estaba para grandes finales, no estaba recuperado fisicamente por lo que se noto el desgaste con el partido de Fan Zendong al parecer fue muy claro, aunque ellos son profesionales

Nice to see a non chinese in the final for once. Have to say thou, that was a very poor performance from Hugo especially on how well he played in the previous rounds. Seems like he was just happy to be in the final.
Hugo was still in great shape in the final, but Liang played much better than Fan Zhendong.

Damn, Hugo really would have earned it but he got impatient at the end and Liang accustomed to his shots. Very unfortunate, but Liang earned it by eliminating the dragon.
One more thing:
The tournament would've been fundamentally different IF Wang Chuqin entered.
Everyone facing him would've been rected resulting in totally different matchups.

actually Liang had good records to defeat WCQ before Singapore smash this year, so let's wait and see how would Liang improve his attacking skills to adapt WCQ's tricks

@@PongKingKong You are kidding right? Everyone knows world #2 Fan has been performing awful for quite a while. He lost to too many mediocre players recently. That’s also why he dropped from #1 to #2 anyway. Besides, since you mentioned “spent all the energy”, Hugo beat previous opponents with big leads 3:0, 4:2, but Liang played intense games with a result of 3:2 and 4:3 packed with drama. The energy Liang spent was much more. If you watched all those games, you wouldn’t even ask this question.

If you guys watch again and analyze the match, you will notice that the chinese player was lucky that Hugo Calderano missed so many silly shots that he usually doesn’t, plus the edge/nets bolls.
Unfortunately luck was not on his side today.
Now I can tell one thing, the chinese team do get scared when playing Calderano for sure!
Liang's luck? You should check out his game against Ma Long. It's pretty hard to lose with that kind of luck.
On the other hand, top players don't just miss. Placement, spin, and pace often play a part.
The reason Hugo missed many shots is Liang controlled short games and changed the pace by adding crazy spin. People just can't see that spinning of little ball from faraway.
Is Hugo lucky too since Liang missed so many of his shots as well?
Or maybe, Liang is simply much better than Hugo?

@@dongiovanni8899 Olympics is the hardest for the Chinese national team because only two participants per country are allowed. Some unorthodox opponents could make a surprise.
@@luisanthonychau but a country cannot simply send any players to the Olympics. They have to compete in prequalification events and reach the ranking set by the Olympic Committee🤓
