Cool how they used an F40PH and not a Charger for this, with us getting to see them using the older generation of Locomotives with the brand new Coaches. Makes the F40s look like they still got quite some life left in them, even if only 4 out of 6 still remain.
Even Coaster is now in the process of getting a few of these, but I’m still ready to see them run on ACE. Hopefully weekend service for ACE can return when these start service. This however does get me wondering on why Metrolink or Tri-Rail now didn’t plan on purchasing these coaches aside from the Hyundai Rotems they still have.
because the series ix cars came out in 2016 and Metrolink needed to replace the cabcars in 2010 so they bought rotems it was the first CEM cab car to enter the US market I think
*Awesome catch!* Here at SD our very own Coaster is finally getting those too and *it’s currently on its ferry ride* towards down here at Camp Pendleton!
I'm probably the only person in the entire universe who thinks this, but I think the K5CA's on these cab cars sound alright. They're definitely better than the godawful european honkers that Caltrain's Stadler trainsets and the New Acelas have.
@@T128Productionsyes, the metra P5, it would sound 10x better in my opinion, or the K5LA that Ace uses, those sound alot better than half of the K5LA’s out there
That is a Nathan K5CA-LS air horn. It’s commonly used on Canadian passenger trains like GO Transit. And if you ask me, it sounds so wrong in so many ways.
Alstom has kept most of Bombardier's product line, especially for North American & European markets. As well as added in some new ones as well, like the Adessia product platform.
I learned from gamingrailfanner that it’s required in Canada and is mandatory by Alstom. The Sounder train MP40PH-3Cs, VIA Rail, and EXO all have the same horn.
I'm surprised these have Canadian horns. GO Transit and VIA Rail equipment have horns that sound three chimes normally, but can sound five chimes in an emergency.
the California cars aren’t single level, they have 2 levels, the only Amtrak California that has one level coaches + California cars is San Joaquins, they have venture and California cars
It’s just like the SC44s and the revamped paint-scheme rolling stock, but the lettering ain’t there. But for the F40PH and original rolling stock paint, it’s made when the railroad was created.

F40PH will never die. ❤
Wish we still had them down here in San Diego, but at least they’re saving a couple!

@@2307_railfanning Shout out to @coasterfan2105 for putting in yeoman's work on getting those awesome Coaster locomotives to new homes. 🫶
Speaking of charger this year we will get the coaches for the charger
I believe this will be the first commuter rail with both an IX Series Cabcar and an SC-44
and a f40
The ntcd coaster is also receiving the new cab cars
Coaster also has a CEM cab car and SC-44s
@@keatontheloyalnarwhal2197but ACE got them first, that’s why it was the first commuter rail to use both sc44 and series ix cars.

It’s very possible Metrolink could get those, or even borrow them from Coaster in the foreseeable future.
Nice Cabcar horn on 3312 my new Cabcar!@@Railviation

Yep!
Actually? Where’d you hear about this? Can’t wait to see them finally start to run!
Literally every rail fanner talked abt it for a while
@@Pointdumeprods Oops, I haven’t been out railfanning in a little while :/. When can we expect to see them in service?
Possibly in anywhere from 1-5 months not entirely sure
I’m riding this when they go in service
Hay That’s Just Like My Scanner Spotting By the Bay
Note: Those Cars Will Be On Service Forever & Will Never Retire
Reminds of of GO trains
They have the same cab
@@railfandepotproductions And the same horn as well.
Same horn same cab same design and same interior
this is the first ever commuter rail in California to get these cars, glad Ace made the right choice of getting these and not some other cars
Note: those cars will be in service forever and will never retire
I'm surprised they arried blank. I wonder if they are going to add logos and stripes later.
They are
that’s how they arrived when ace repainted their bbl cars in 2020 or 2022, they will add them maybe a month after service or when they enter service
All operators of the bi levels should get these
Same
nah
Is anyone familiar of when these new Cabcars will enter service? Please let me know
The old ace f40ph 3c train locomotives are my favorite train 🚂 locomotives
I like these cabcars instead of the old ones
Wow those look really sleek! Great video!
The cab car reminds me of the go train
That's because GO uses the same exact ones
Very nice video 🎉🎉
very cool catch. But I have one question: what are those strobe lights right above the cab of the cab car, why are they flashing or what do they mean?
I'm probably the only person in the entire universe who thinks this, but I think the K5CA's on these cab cars sound alright. They're definitely better than the godawful european honkers that Caltrain's Stadler trainsets and the New Acelas have.
!!! Nice video, Like !!!
oh those horns are K5CA's on the new ones just like go transit
I would replace that thing with an old cast p5 (that is, if I had one) which would’ve sounded 10x better in my opinion.

Nice footage, just realized the F40 loco on that train has the same sounding Prime Mover as NZ's DFB / DFT class locomotives!
I'm not really a big fan of new cab cars because you can't move between them if they are coupled in the middle, and they look pretty boring
4:32 Sounds like GO Transit to me
And from the distance 6:35
Blame it on Alstom.
That’s because it’s a Cabcar from go transit

Does Alstom still manufacture these? Not sure since I believe most of these purchases were made before the Bombardier acquisition.

@@az196823 Okay thanks, I was wondering since I think these are one of the only bilevel cars still in the market.
literally toronto ontario has these with 12 car trains for like 8 years+ and ALOT of them
Sounds like the horns from GO Transit and VIA Rail.
I know right? Same type.
And sounder train
Whatever happened to horns sounding musical???
Idk ask the manufacturer.
The K5CA-LS horns sound awesome, one of my favorite horns.

That horn in the bay… doesn’t feel right
it don’t even feel right in the Central Valley either, we’re used to K5LA’s that ACE and Amtrak San Joaquins has
Im not a fan of these, considering im a GO Railfan that has suffered with the OG CEM cab cars from as early as 2013-14. But hey ACE got something new.
I wish Amtrak, specifically Capitol Corridor, uses Coaster Coaches instead of single level coaches
the California cars aren’t single level, they have 2 levels, the only Amtrak California that has one level coaches + California cars is San Joaquins, they have venture and California cars
3312's K5CA Sounds better than 3310
Nooo the ogs are gonna be gone soon😢
no they aren’t, this was for the extension for the Sacramento-Merced extension
I’m sorry but those horns are just… So *Canadian…* Why couldn’t they retain the K5LAs from the original cab cars?
because Alston has to put them on these cab cars, I don’t know why but they could’ve at least changed the horn when they arrived here in California
Stealth? Why are the passenger cars are unlettered?
They must also be Series IX cars which have yet to be painted.
ACE usually doesn’t letter new cars when they are testing, they will add them a month of a year after service
👍👍👍❤🤍💚
😍😍😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Those colors are sexy 😍 when did they get it done

The colors are quite nice.
Note: Those Cars Will Be On Service Forever & Will Never Retire
I could genuinely deal with these cabs if they didn't have the God awful horns that the Canadian government mandates on their passenger trains.
Atleast 3312 doesn’t sound bad as 3310.
Despite how ugly it looks. At least it passed tests hopefully lol
Not as ugly as the old cabs which just looked liked the back of a train.
they look fine in my opinion they aren’t ugly but the horn is
I hope that's not it's final paint job, the grey looks atrocious, it's just as nasty as Phase V.
Worse than Phase V imo
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 I won’t argue there, I hate phase V as much but at least it has some blue, I love ACE’s purple Scheme
Yeah it’s very uninspired. Glad we’re keeping it colorful down here on the Coaster.
