      When I removed the fan shroud, I noticed pink coolant residue on the top right of the radiator. Finally I have found the coolant leak!! I also removed and flushed the intercooler, about an hour to get the intercooler out. I put it all back together. Looked on RAVE for radiator removal, and, one of the first steps is. da dah remove intercooler.!!

    A little smear of washing up liquid around the inside the hose at 28-30 works wonders when sliding the hose back on.

    😂😂😂 break neck performance at the end. doing this on my disco tomorrow. just done the ABS shuttle valves, that got rid of the 3 amigos. The diagnostic also flagged up the egr, hence blanking it.

    Ironically Ive got to do something similar to my car,not as involved but same principle I have an oil separator inside the rocker cover. Went up north a couple of weeks ago to see my folks and my Mum who is not known for her mechanical skills proclaims "i can smell oil" and indeed she could! My engine had blown about half a liter out of the oil cap :( I took the cap apart re seated the seal and thought I just needed a new cap? But learned through the owners forum about the separator. In Theory it does the same thing as an EGR but is a bit stone age in design when you get blow by the oil enters it sinks into a trough with a drip tube the gases rise and exit the side of the cover and head for the air box. My car in its past was off the road for 5 years the oil turned to treacle probably filed the strainer and congealed in the drip tube and gasses outlet now it likes to blow through the oil cap! Short of getting a new rocker cover gasket (rubber like yours and yes it leaks) and probably a new cap I think a paraffin bath is in order for the rocker cover and separator then all should be well ;)
    Am I the only one that deep down thinks in the long run as EGR's at Cat's clog they are actually throwing far more crap out into the air that the older cars that never had them?
    Looking forward to the next vid,
    Jo

      The old tubes of red hermetite used to sit quite happily on the shelf from one gasket renewal to the next. Then they took it off the market for some reason or other. That's progress children.

      A thick sock of average quality would also suffice! But should not be worn again until all traces of metal particles have left the fabric...or simply discard after use! This Tip was brought to you by the Austin Maxi owner's club maintainence handbook. Your video's are Fantastic by the way and i don't even own a Land Rover. I have been considering a land Rover or something to work on instead of driving it. I have owned a Series 2a in the past and a Freelander[ Poor man's Austin Allegro] and wondered what are your thought's on the V8 3.9 engine as i have had the Rover 3.5 carb model before and adored it but this was in a Triumph Stag which had no ECU ABS MAF etc etc....Your reply could convince me further! Thankyou! I also really miss roll up cig's as an ex Smoker!

    How did you get on at the MOT with this? Going to look at a disco2 at the weekend, other than the dreaded tin worm. What else should I look out for?

    On my D2 the power cable to the vac solenoid switch has been disconnected and vac supply plugged. In your video did you just plug the vac and leave the wiring as manufactured with EGR?

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sam and yes, I just left everything as it was except plugging the vacuum of the solenoid switch. Cheers,

    • @sgrabham
      @sgrabham 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think mine has been disconnected so it doesn't get logged and to stop error messages showing in the nanocom diag tool. do you think it makes any difference?

    What is the symptoms when egr valve got a problem?tq

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Wan Adli Hi Wan. Typically the engine will feel 'flat' lacking power and fuel economy will suffer.

    Did this after a while make any engine lights etc come on ? And dose it pass the mot on emission ? With this in place

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At this stage, no engine lights and I will have to wait till the MOT in September for the emissions.

    • @itzzriderz6436
      @itzzriderz6436 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did it pass the mot with it on

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's passed two mot's since then, no problem.

    • @davidkilpatrick18
      @davidkilpatrick18 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically by the book it should fail as the MOT manual says any alterations to emission control equipment is a fail. However most of this is hidden under the engine cover and not many testers know where each vehicle has its egr so they don't go looking unless it fails on emissions which would mean something else is wrong.

    Hi mate, do the exhaust sound different?

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +edward thomas Hi Edward. If memory serves me correctly it did sound somehow less inhibited. The engine was noticeably quieter and smoother as well.

    • @edwardthomas7928
      @edwardthomas7928 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I getting mine done now Tuesday, I was wondering what else will be different?

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +edward thomas Smoother, quieter, not sure about better mpg but it did seem to accelerate better, though probably not as much as I made out. :)

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +edward thomas Definitely a worthwhile exercise though.

    • @edwardthomas7928
      @edwardthomas7928 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What about the exhaust do it make it more noiser?

  • @m1cxf
    @m1cxf 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wouldn't it be much easier and cheaper just to blank off the pipe that feeds exhaust gasses to the valve with the small plate than removing everything? The way the UK government keeps moving the goal posts on MOT standards it would at least look like it had an EGR system.
