Whirr's legacy will live on forever. Hands down the best shoegaze from the 2010s revival. Twitter might have destroyed their social presence but ultimately good music will always live on. In 10-20 years when people will rediscover Whirr, they will hate our generation for ending a fantastic band over a ridicule social media gaffe.

I think the reason it seems like the vocals are lot quieter is because they coming from the PA at the sides, whereas this camera is picking up more of the actually stage sound, like Drums and the Guitar and Bass Amps because it's in the middle and close to the stage. I'd say that the sound is excellent for a camera recording in this though, despite the quiet vocals.

Just discovered this band on Friday 13th 2024. Amazing absolutely amazing If Low, Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine had a baby…. The feeling, the heart, the depth
this is exactly how they sounded when i saw them open for airiel in chicago about 10 years ago. absolutely no vocals present, and reverb over the top. still a good show.
The lp that was supposed to come immediately after Sway was going to be the heaviest stuff they dropped. None of those promo songs made it to that last album. Sucks we won’t get that time back. One of rocks biggest "what ifs?". Smh. Free Whirl, the only Shoegaze band that did it perfect

+Matthew V I've found these guys suffer from a few things for live shows. The vocals are good for the studio; good melodies delivered at whisper levels. But here the vocal mic isn't hot enough, and I think the singer doesn't have the confidence to pull it off. It could be done, he just doesn't do it.
+royercrafter I can agree, but to an extent. I love Whirr, all this and that, with the female vocals and now without. However, the female vocals really added to the atmosphere and songs melodic undertones and quality. When I saw them live I didn't mind the loudness, but when the older songs that utilized the female vocals for melodic value for verses, the songs just lacked the magic. Maybe they should just play those vocal parts on guitar? but who cares, not my band. But that's my gripe about it.
+AndTheMonster Actually, I'm glad they ditched the female vocals. I think they came off as shrill and nasally. It almost sounded like a child caterwauling in another room. The male vocals work better for their new darker, heavier sound which I think separates Whirr from many bland shoegaze bands. The smooth vocals over heavy riffs works quite well. I get that live vocals using this approach isn't easy, but I think they could easily do it if the tried. 'Sway' is one of my favorite albums of the past few years. Hopefully the recent BS surrounding Whirr helps motivate a new album instead of killing a band with a pile of potential.
