Interesting. I rode my '09 DL650 from the Trans -Labrador "Highway" to Big Bend, Texas then around Baja, Mexico then back to Deals Gap, NC to Prince Edward Island. Great little bike, one of the best for the buck. Have a 2012 now, it's even a tad better. I haven't been in Oregon for years, so thanks for the video.
This is an awesome video! Don't yet have my V-Strom, working on it. Did a fun trip through Phantom Canyon headed to Canyon City from Cripple Creek, CO to visit the Royal Gorge, lot's of fun.
September, Labor Day weekend. There was a lot of traffic, but it meant there were a lot of other riders out, too. Dipped below freezing in the Ochocos at night.
I start with a destination, figure out my timeline, and then use that to decide which days to spend pounding pavement and which days to spend taking dirt and gravel. Once I'm riding, though, I adjust the route as I go. About 1/3 of the roads on this trip weren't planned, but got us where we were going. I camp where ever looks nice, up in National Forest or BLM land. A great resource when you're riding like this is the Delorme Atlas, see the description for the link to learn more.
How did you choose your route? I'm thinking of doing something similar, but probably solo. I grew up in the Columbia Gorge, but really havent had much opportunity to explore the rest of Oregon. I'd love to head to the South-East sometime. I picked up my V-Strom last summer and I've been riding it everywhere this year. Just changed out the original tires for some meaty 50/50 tread and bolted on some crash protection bits.
@casperdog777 Not so much wilderness over here! If you go to Scotland similar trails. Remember we are a small island! But where I live we have beautiful South Downs and pretty little old villages - very quaint. I was over in the Rockies in 2010 (Canadian Rockies) and that was amazing but colder than Oregon/Nevada! Safe riding and check out my personal V Strom Review on You Tube. Dave
Small world! a buddy sent me this video. I was the guy on the BMW that gave you a tow after you ran out of go juice a few months back.

Great Video. Vstroms rock
@TommyStokke Thanks, should be another video coming soon. Have fun with your new Strom! They'll go anywhere you make them.
Heading to Cripple Creek in July 2013...on the Vstrom

@oregonwinger64 Don't think we saw the kiln, or got on the e-mail list. He didn't seem to be much of a fan of the Stroms...or maybe it was just us!

Sorry, the aluminum boxes were custom made by the bike's first owner, and he never made any more. They are very impressive!

@dansrc I'm actually the other rider, but I'll let him know!
@casperdog777 Thanks! Any riding like this over in UK land?
