One Plus sort of officially took the leap to the _flagship_ market now, it's no longer a "budget" phone That said, it's a great flagship could possibly be the best if for the headphone jack (Yes it's a big deal for me)
My big problem with the whole thing is that I have an S8+. It has been OVER 2 years now, I really like new technology and would love to buy a new phone. 90hz 1440p (compared to 60hz 1440p) and fully bezel-less (vs small chin and forehead) is a huge plus, very much want to skip the notch. I trust 1+ that the fact they chose not to pay for a rating doesn’t diminish the phone’s dustproof and waterproof qualities (though I do like that I can take my S8+ into the bath/shower, so I’d probably want to see some TH-cam videos proving just how waterproof this thing is). It appears I won’t get 1UI at this rate so I’d say OxygenOS is comparable to my Samsung Android skin. Based on some of the tradein prices OnePlus offers I might get ~$200, so this would be a $460 upgrade, essentially just to trade 30hz on the screen for my headphone jack. No Thanks.
Nope, samsung is gonna end it with note 10,no headphone jack. If the world leading smartphone manufacturer is dropping the headphone jacks, you know its the end of something.

Different strokes. I went from a Oneplus 6 to a Note 8 and while dash charging was insanely fast, it is quite convenient to just put my phone on a charge stand or pad and not think about it. Seems odd, but not having to deal with wires is oddly satisfying.

Linus Touch Tips usually has really good reviews. This was an enlightening review. I always thought that Google and Samsung had the fastest android phones. At first I thought 90 hertz was excessive, however, OnePlus has definitely proven otherwise. 30 watt warp charge is impressive, and it’s cool that OnePlus was confident enough to invite you to their R+D laboratories. Maybe this will be my next Android device
Because it is a new phone and they took the time to review it. Plus Linus has stated in the past. He spends like a month or two using a phone as his daily driver before doing a review. I do not know how others handle that. I think it is a fair timeframe to make a judgment on a product. Unless it is really bad.
I choose Mr. Mobile. He's extremely truthful in his reviews and by far the best phone reviewer on youtube. He says the One Plus 7 Pro is very good but not excellent and the camera is a disappointment.

Honestly, this is the perfect phone for me. I’ve survived using a 6s for four years, so I can deal with no wireless charging and water protection. No headphone jack? I haven’t used headphones at all (including bluetooth) for months aside from the headset on my PC. Motorized and not durable selfie camera? I’ve used my front facing camera about three times since I got the iPhone 6s.
I have the Oneplus 3T since 3 years now. Latest OS version, very stable and smooth. But the amount of upgraded tech that OP 7 pro brings is crazy. I held the phone in my hand yesterday and I was blown. Yes, after trying the iPhone 11 pro max and Note 10+, I can confidently say this is a better display. If there was a flat screen display option it would be better to me.
I should show this to all the people that think Oneplus is some vague Chinese brand. Ive owned the original Oneplus, the 5t and now the 7 pro, and people finally start to recognize the brand but mostly because of the front camera. Its a cool and unique feature but the phone is so much more. Hardware but especially the clean android imo.
I don't get why lots of people, even many Android users themselves fail to recognize brands like OnePlus, or the Essential phone, etc.... I could imagine though that, at the time these were kind of niche or "cheap" products that were lesser than standard. Of course not being a brand name, that was expected. But now, I could add brands like OnePlus, Huawei, or even OPPO into the whole mix because their quality has now been up to that standard, that those people who buy brand name products expect. Of course being that they do not have the same resources and experience in the industry, but again, they now should be considered by these people as actual good choices.
@_ David _ ok, before I get started here, I need to say that I am not a lover of apple, quite the opposite, although, the only part of your argument I would disagree with(depending on whether your talking about the phones laptops) is the overpriced, Linus showed in a earlier video that apple charges about market rate for the parts integrated into a complete system, everything else though, I completely agree with you on
Don't feel sorry for having a normal level IQ and seeing the need for a port so basic and universal that everything works perfectly with it instead of relying solely on garbage quality Bluetooth.
Really want to invest in that speed/quality of the 7pro, but I got to be real with Myself. It's a phone, I drop it... A lot, and I seriously need that water/dust and shock resistance 😅
I see - but we need to take their Word for its resistance i guess. I have always doubted ultra light, slim and almost screen to edge phones for being very fragile - maybe a cover can be sufficient, but it got to be a good one :)
You can easily make ANY Android phone feel more snappy by speeding up or turning off the animations. First, you need to enable the Developer options menu by tapping 'Build number' 7 times in the Settings. Next, in the Developer settings, you can adjust these values: - Window Animation scale - Transition Animation Scale - Animator Animation Scale I personally set these all to 0.5x, this means all animations are twice as fast, and my phone feels much snappier.
Me too! Have you tried a custom OS? I flashed a Pie-based ROM on it a couple months ago and it's awesome, the sometimes excessive heat is all but gone and it's buttery smooth.
@@19235641 It... Varies. A LOT. Sometimes it manages to stay alive after 7-8 hours of pokemon go. Sometimes dies after 2. I'd say it provides 3-4 hours of heavy use. Not a problem for me, but I can see it being one for someone else.

OnePlus 7 Pro is a fantastic phone especially with the BlackFriday promo going on. You can get a OnePlus 7 Pro with 256gb storage and 8gbs of RAM for $549 without tax ($494 with the student discount). That's a heck of a deal for all the OnePlus 7 Pro specs and features compared to other flagship phones. I was looking into getting a used iPhone XR or iPhone X to replace my iPhone 11 Pro Max after getting mugged, but I'll give OnePlus and Android a shot at this price.
Still the best phone produced during the last 5 years. Progress that has been made since the Oneplus 7 pro are som tiny that they are barely noticeable. They want you to get a new phone every year if possible, usually every two years. That's why they have 24 month plans and they seal the batteries so when the capacity eventually shrinks after 10 months, you either have to pay to get it fixed (or risk the repair itself) or wait to get a new phone
True. I guess they have such a long animation timer to make the phones feel smoother for the common user. Personally i like to have it turned off cause it feels alot faster. However it seems to notice actual lag much better without animation time.
These phone reviews are targeted at a wide audience and judging the stock experience is the only option for comparing android devices. You can tweak everything, but where do you draw the line?
back in the days those animations were something to distract you from the fact that the phone wasn't finished with its given task. don't know if that's still the case though.
Wireless charging isn't really that good though? Plugging it in is faster and takes just as much effort? And you don't have to worry about where you put your phone. Want to move your phone charging on the table? Just move it to the chair. The charging pads keep your phone in place so you can't use it while you charge either. And yet you decide not to harp on the no headphone jack which provides backwards compatibility to most if not all audio devices. If you want true wireless charging you should be able to move the phone around the room :/

@@selfproclaimednobody4614 No doubt. For $650, I would have to use a skin too. The swarm skin looks cool and provides the most grip. But for a review, you gotta show the mirror finish, which I would never see since I'm using a skin and it would sell more phones.
haha. same thoughts on my side. this should be not even considered anymore. leaving out headphone jacks might be following a certain trend, but having no water resistance rating whatsoever is surely not... 😂 wtf oneplus?
Max Weiderer It has water resistance, they just aren’t paying the fee to the IP rating company in order to make the phone cheaper, and it’s not like having an IP rating means the company that makes it will replace it if it DOES get water damaged. 90hz display is great, am a bit sore about the headphone jack (and maybe a bit about wireless charging) but it is still considerably cheaper than apple or Samsung (even the Xr and 10e are $100+ more than the base model). Will definitely consider the upgrade from the S8+, but might want to keep my jack for now (and again, wireless charging).
Wireless charging is a gimmick that theoretically has the only advantage of saving your charging port from wear (how do you break a charging port?), all while being less practical in the real world ie. Not being able to pick up a phone to use it without interrupting the charging.
then don't get it. I love the one plus 7 pro What sold it for me is the speed and the 90hz 2k amoled display. I just like my tech to do finsh my task fast and accurate and this does it. all the other gimmicks are well gimmicks. except for the headphone jack i miss it but it is a price to pay for a notchless display. having a notch or a punch hole is not an innovation and it sucks.
Oneplus devices definitely age the best out of any of the Android manufacturers. Their competition makes it kinda easy though with the bloatware, clunky UI, and lack of proper software support. This has improved with time, touch wiz isn't as shit as it used to be, but it's still something that I'd rather avoid personally. Apple is an anomaly in this category because most of the smartphone world is just insane hardware mixed with lacklustre software. Obviously the pixel phones are an exception, but they are hit or miss with the hardware. Oneplus is probably the only company to modify stock Android and actually make it better. Yeah this video is old, but this phone is still quite relevant on the used market and it's a great budget option, especially the Mclaren version if you want something unique and exclusive with 5G for an affordable price.
the best part is they offer the polish and refinement that Apple does without the walls separating you from the device. They actually support modding unlike Samsung, Apple, and other companies.
To be fair, nexus 5 had a first generation Qi charger, while today’s Qi charger is much faster compared top that. But yes, wireless charger to me is still to gimmicky and not really an essential feature for a phone
Yep, I have a phone that supports wireless charging and yet I prefer wired charging. Not really interested in the gimmick for now. Doesn’t matter how many situation I picture myself in, it’ll always be wired. Some people saying stuff like wireless is very important when you’re in car and stuff. Well, sure, but then again you could actually just plug your cable from the car charger up to the mount, not really a big deal 🤔
My Mix 2S has Qi charge and it won't work through a decent case. I've yet to see one that will. My only complaint is no SD, but 128GB has been plenty for me. Oh and wireless charging is horrible for battery longevity. It requires much more voltage to work and heats up everything more. I also wouldn't suggest Quick charge, Dash, or Warp for overnight charges.

No Thanks.

I still think dash (or warp) charging is superior to wireless charging.
Any wired charging is better. Wireless charging is inefficient. Waste of power.
Yep! I am extremely fond of the insane charging rate of my OP6. My moms S9 has an ok charge rate with its wired charger but all wireless chargers we have tested are slow AF.
Does it have intelligent charge so it doesn't quick charge when it's plugged in at night or near full?
@@1FelixxileF1 I'm pretty sure all phones do that now. I don't even plug my OP6 in the night though. I just charge it while freshening up in the morning and it lasts me over a day.
Different strokes. I went from a Oneplus 6 to a Note 8 and while dash charging was insanely fast, it is quite convenient to just put my phone on a charge stand or pad and not think about it. Seems odd, but not having to deal with wires is oddly satisfying.

I hate to tell you this linus but you can reduce the animation in every android phone through developer option.
Man I wish they would put that hardware/software combo in a TABLET! A bezel-less 9 inch 16:9 amoled aspect ratio to be precise :)

Whoa! That 0.05 second speed difference is all I want in my phone.

Plus if you use a finger grip (ie: popsocket, etc) - they don't stick to slick surfaces.

A "pro" device that has no headphone jack, expandable storage, wireless charging, or water resistance...ummm no thanks.
haha. same thoughts on my side. this should be not even considered anymore. leaving out headphone jacks might be following a certain trend, but having no water resistance rating whatsoever is surely not... 😂 wtf oneplus?
well, it's 300 dollars cheaper than other flagships so i'll give it a "maybe"
Wireless charging is overhyped. I had a nexus 5 and it had that feature. It was so slow to charge it was kind of pointless to use.
To be fair, nexus 5 had a first generation Qi charger, while today’s Qi charger is much faster compared top that. But yes, wireless charger to me is still to gimmicky and not really an essential feature for a phone
The same was with my nexus 6, awful!
Not to mention the terrible efficiency compared to wired chargers.
A nicely constructed and descriptive review. I watched MKBHD and Dave2D before watching this review but i liked this one better. Good job LTT keep up the good work!!
I liked the one from mkbhd better. Linus was praising this phone into heaven. For a lot of people the battery life of this phone could be a dealbreaker. The previous oneplus phones had on screen times around 7h. This one has only half of that.
@@billigerfusel True, but i think the faster Warp charge takes care of that hence i don't think it will be a deal breaker for many.
To large?
6,67 is it the modern cod piece to impress the ladies?
"there's a reason oneplus phones hold their value so darn well"
I'd like to thank the world for selling all their oneplus 7 pros right now at around 300-350 dollars only a year later proving this statement completely wrong but also happily so because it actually IS that great
