My father was born and raised in Salamanca. He moved to SoCal in 1954 and never looked back. He would have liked this video. Oh, the concrete structure you didn’t know, it was part of the Erie Lackawanna train yard - my grandpa worked for the railroad.
I hear SoCal looks just like Salamanca now. So in one way you could experience what it would be like if he never left.
Damn shame about the train station. We visited about 10 years ago. This video is a TH-cam GOAT!

i spent my summers with my grandma in salamanca in 70's 80's. went to high school there class of 89. as a kid loved it. was kind of magical. back then no one cared if you disappeared in the woods for 6 hours. was like tom sawyer. although my grandma always worried i'd drown the alleghany. your video is hilarious. best music video i've seen on salamanca ever. i'm subscribing to you for all my salamanca video needs. actually, was making a music video connected to salamanca myself. nostalgia. was hitting up the salamanca highschool group for vintage videos. about 20 years ago i went back to check it out. they would not let me walk around the high school. security was tight. as if school shooters bother to check in with the office. and it was 17 degrees out. i forgot how cold it gets. been living in san francsico for 20 years.

It used to be called 'Hemlock' (not unlike the poisonous libation that did in Socrates) until 1912 or so. The city was renamed after Jose de Salamanca y Mayol, 1st Marques of Salamanca in his honor after his trust donated some capital to the area railroad industry at the time. I'm sorry for you that this blighted city shares the same as your fine city.
I was born in olean and raised in killbuck till I was 10 then parents moved to south central pa in 1999 where I graduated then moved to my current location in west Tennessee in 2011. I’m making probably my last trip to Salamanca next week haven’t been there in years but have many memories of the 1990’s in the town and schools.

I grew up here. Your video was like a travel blog for depression. I am glad I left.
At 2:34 that's my dad's dads old recording studio. It's a shame it's in that condition now because my dad and his dad used to create really good songs in there and recorded other songs for people to. I'm actually not lying about all this. My dad's channel is Gary London. Or Roseburg, but he likes being called London.

I live here currently, and it still sucks. Nothing's changed except the weed industry and a few extra gas stations. Hopefully, I can get out of here soon. Cheers 🍻
Man you will probably think I am nuts but I have been living in Tonawanda NY all my life (62 years) and one of my only regrets is not moving to Salamanca when I was younger. I love that area. You have Little Valley, Allegany State Park, Olean, Jamestown and Bradford all around you and no matter where you go it's woods and mountains and farmland and rivers, streams and creeks. I think maybe you are just looking at things from the wrong point of view.

Yup that Hollywood image of America is not like reality. I went to a local mall recently it was surreal. I need to go listen to "My City Was Gone" and reflect.

That river is stinky, they dump sewage in it so it would live up to its name 😂. I'm pretty sure Salamanca means "land of the stinky water" so I was told..

I used to live there.. It's ok for a town out in the country.. but it's seen better days
It’s seen better days fs used to be the spot back in the 60s. But they have a huge workout complex which they sadly avoided in this video because they’re trying to downplay this town it’s probably the size of 2 full street blocks maybe even more it’s ginormous and they have everything.
@@rjthecodgod143 'THE spot' for what? I've driven through that town. I've seen those people with my own eyes. NO WAY in Hell anyone there is gettin' up close and personal with any gym or workout equipment. If they got a nice fitness complex then the machines got cobwebs on them. I've never seen so many unhealthy Morbidly overweight people in one place in my life. I had to dodge mart cart scooters with 'large Marges' all over the grocery store. They could all be cast as extras in 'My 600ib Life'.
