I'm in the US and I've got 5 Greys rods and 3 Greys reels. I'm actually quite fond of them and appreciate your reviews. Your format of live action, specification discussion, and closeup photo review is really effective and I hope Greys takes notice of it.

I don't understand the hype in getting the lightest reels possible. Ok. Because if you cast about 200-400 cast in a day and you'll do the same the next, I MIGHT see your point. But, if the rod is front heavy then you're going to get tired, wrist and forearm fatigue anyways. Most of the time a rod over 9' and even at 9' you'll need a heavier reel than you might think. When the rod system is balanced with a heavier reel, then you won't be as fatigued on a 2 day stip.

I can’t speak highly enough of greys gear. I have 5 Greys rods and 4 Greys reels. They never let me down

I bought one, it’s an absolutely fantastic reel. I can’t believe they don’t feature that leader groove in any of the advertising. It’s really useful. I’ve got Hardy and Lamson reels that cost more than twice as much and they’re nowhere near twice as good. At sub 200 quid, it’s amazing.
The main comment I make on your review though is the weight thing.
I truly believe modern reels have got way too light it’s been a sort of Vanity thing with the manufacturers . They seem to think the lighter they can make them the better and it’s got ridiculous.

Would you say I should go for a 5/6 tital reel for a 10ft 4wt instead.? Advice would be appreciated

These longer reviews of a test following months of use are far better than a lot of the online reviews that simply look at a freshly unpacked and unused item, really like this

How does the Tital do with mono rigs?

Thank you. I’m just getting into Nymphing specific gear and your videos have been a great bit of knowledge. Tight lines

Brilliant video 👏 I’ve owned my 5/6 for a couple years now and only had minimal issues. Wasn’t a fan of how sharp the inside edge was on the black rim. Im also not convinced this would hold up in the salt. Even in Ozarks USA with some of our sandy bottom spring creeks, I’ve had sand get under the drag dial and lock up the drag. Otherwise it’s a solid reel. Had no idea about some of the other features you pointed out. Subscribed 🤙

Great little review! Bought the 9/10 from Garry Evans in Cardiff to go with my Loomis NRX+ salmon rod. On the bench we had the Sage Spectrum and Enforcer, Hardy Ultra Disc and then the Greys. On looking at all of them, it eventually came down to the noise the click made 😅 Can't stand an obnoxious clicker! Apart from that, they were all much of a muchness. The Greys is certainly punching well above it's price tag.
Absolutely love the reel and the initial inertia is as minimal as the competition. Can also very happily say that it handles the Usk salmon faultlessly. Sadly only can attest to it's ability against chub and pike on the Wye. Perhaps soon it'll be time to look at fly fishing for barbel on the Wye. Fancy a challenge???

Hi All, i managed to buy a couple of these lovely looking reel at a nice price from eBay, after really liking the look of it from looking online for a full cage reel, and getting to try one when out on a guided days fishing with @IB and Andy Fishing :) - fantastic bits of kit, and as Andy mentions they balance out the nymphing rod brilliantly. Thanks again for a really enjoyable days fishing, learnt so much from it. Regards from us three in Lancashire :)

One thing not mentioned in the review is Greys service dept. I had a problem with an older discontinued cassette reel one of a pair that I use for all my reservoir fishing. For a nominal charge they quickly repaired the reel and posted it back . Brilliant service ! I was contemplating looking at two new reels & spare cassettes but Greys came up trumps.

Have the 5/6 weight tidal best ever great drag full cage suites me fine a tiny bit heavier than most reels only picky thing is line can get caught between the spool and rim when putting the spool back on because of the full cage a little bit awkward its a good strong reliable lasting reel,

Greys have a long standing ability to make unnecessarily heavy reels. I looked at the 3/4 reel but the wight put me off. There's no justifiably reason for a 3/4 reel to weight over 6oz.

Oh yes there is. I own an long Orvis #3wt nymphing rod and was hoping my little Hardy #3wt reel would balance it. No way, I needed to buy a Battenkill IV to get the balance right. I wasn't amused at the unexpected extra cost, so suggested their rods should state the weight of reel needed to achieve a nymphing rod's critical balance requirements.
