Saw the movie last week! And read the book twice. John's life would have been so different if he had chosen to stay with May. I'm really happy May decided to tell her side of things.
@@mrbill9248 you're absolutely right. John liked strong *take charge* women. And largely why his marriage to Cynthia didn't last. But if he had stayed with May, at least for awhile longer, there may have been a brief time all the Beatles collaborated again. I feel like there's a sad lost opportunity with how things went.
Good Luck to you May Pang, I am always glad to hear your side of the story. You have always been a good karma person and it shows. May we all protect our own happiness.
Mays story with John and Yoko has remained consistent over the years, and she really only spoke out in John’s defense, because she wanted to make things clear about John in regards to his drug use. May has always been respectful when Yoko’s brought up in interviews, and has not shared intimate things between her in John, she keeps it classy. What’s most telling of the authenticity of May Pang’s story is the relationship she’s maintained over the years with Julian and Cynthia. How anyone continues to discount her story must be envious of her proximity to John, including Yoko , (although Yoko doesn’t deny this relationship, having been so instrumental in its start and ultimately to her disadvantage) and the very real feelings he must’ve had for May.
I think you're confused, who is this May you're talking about? definitely not the one being interviewed, which in fact was the same one that rushed to the newspapers to tell the most remarkable love story of the 70's with only TWO days of John's death
I think John knew and allowed everything that happened happen. He wasn’t some feeble minded person. Depressed and selfish maybe. He could speak or spend time w Julian anytime he wanted, he knew 3 years had passed. I think yoko and John behaved very badly in how they treated May too. They used her but she was too young and had stars in her eyes to notice. I feel bad for her.
Well we know for sure that Yoko hypnotized John. That was the whole reason he went to Yoko's -- to experience her hypnotizing "quit smoking cure". Yoko gave him drugged tea that made him throw up and hypnotized him. It was supposed to be only for a few hours and John expected to be back for dinner but it went on for a whole Lost Weekend. THE REAL LOST WEEKEND! Because John seemed incapable of calling May to say "I'll be late" and whenever May called, Yoko kept refusing to let May speak to him. Something was definitely not right about that lost weekend. In fact, he probably would have thought of THAT as his Lost Weekend if yoko hadn't gotten out in front of that and named his 18 month relationship with May "The Lost Weekend" instead. Which made no sense. Probably had to hypnotize him to make that silly analogy stick. But that's what narcissists do -- accuse others of what they themselves are doing.
I don't agree with the demonisation of Yoko but she has done some sketchy shit since John died. For example taking #9 Dream which John wrote when he was with May and making an "official" video which made it look like it was about John and Yoko and filmed in his Ascot house.
As John is my all time favorite, I read everything john lennon since 1980. His aunt raised him and he did visit with his mother as often as possible, until her death when he was young and he lost her forever. I think yoko discovered early on that John yearned for this unconditional love of his mother that he had lost. To be taken care of, and to be fussed over and loved was emotional security for John. And I believe this control that yoko took over kind of soothed his soul. It may have blinded him from really seeing who she was. I believe she did run the show but also made it appear to him that he was the boss. Not hard to do once you gain someones trust and you are a control freak and narcissist. I believe she also used the negative press she got at the beginning to gain johns sympathy which just endeared her even more to him. I have always been neutral on the topic of yoko but I now see that she was all just a mental game,,,, so sad because john, sean, and Julian deserved so much better than that. This just shows that even those that have significantly impacted this world with their skills, talent, and creativity in magnificent ways, are only human......and they have weaknesses and can be taken advantage of, just like the rest of us.
No matter how “normal” May Pang seems to be, she did take up with a married man for quite a while, and she maintains that she spoke to John on the phone regularly until his death, without Yoko’s knowledge. Yoko may not have been nice, but May is not the angel some make her out to be either. Ultimately John stayed with Yoko and had a child and sang about his happiness. So perhaps May has a hyper inflated view of their relationship?? Sounds to me like she was used by both John and Yoko.
oh dear, the thing is the wife choose the affairs for her husband but never thought he would fall in love for May Pang... and eventually leave the official wife...
To be honest he was a beatle, a creative genius. I think most women would not turn down an opportunity like that. I am also certain that yoko knew about everything that went on and all phone calls made in and out. That was back in the days of landlines only. You got a phone bill by mail that showed all long distance calls made and received. Because you had to pay extra for long distant calling (outside your area code).

Just remembering a very important point before forming any opinion. The story of Yoko blocking Julian's calls to John is something totally new in 50 years, this has never been said by Cynthia, by Julian and not even by May in all these years. Everyone knows the story of John and May, it has been told to the world since the 10th of December 1980 so to release a new documentary it needs a brand new story and of course this story would never have been told 10 or 20 years ago it had to be told now with 90-year-old Yoko and poor health ♀️ 🤷🏽 coincidence? I dont think so and I won't go into May's backstory too much, she is literally a jilted lover who uses Julian's abandonment narrative for her own benefit

It's good timing to put this film out Yoko is old and sick she's 90 years old so may won't get the feedback. John and May had a fling it lasted 18 months and if he was in love with her and she said then he would have no gone back with Yoko have Sean and take care of the baby write more songs about Yoko and and record with her the night he was killed. This film and her book is nothing more than to continue to bash Yoko. Remember it was up to John and not may to any Yoko basher for what and how he wanted in a relationship. Lennon called it the lost weekend and that's what it was till he came back with Yoko.
If you actually watched the film before having an opinion of it, you'd discover that Yoko approached May as a boss to an employer suggesting she have an affair with her husband John because their marriage was in trouble. Again, if you actually watched the documentary before you formed your opinion you'd known that May was an inexperienced 22 year old in her first of second job. The power dynamic here was lopsided and totally wrong. Ethically, John Lennon was not a great guy in this case. His son, Julian, is a far better man it would appear after looking at the documentary. The documentary notes the unseemly actions of John when he heckled the Smothers Brothers at the Whiskey. For a performer to disrupt the act of another performer is atrocious. The documentary is well done and notes the downside of celebrity and hero worship. It is brutally hones. Unlike you I saw the film before having an opinion.
Yoko has been putting out her self aggrandizing PR version of things for 43 years since John was murdered! Talk about good timing! Yoko, having obtained John's Power of Attorney shortly before he was murdered, kept ALL his money, even the half supposed supposed to go to his British family and fought Julian in Court for 16 years!
