  • Although the lime burner trail is classed as a red, the trickier parts are easily avoidable which makes this a great trail for a mountain bike novice.
Also High lodge is a great place to visit with a lot for all the family. Bike trails, bike shop, cafe, crazy golf. And there's even a pump track.

Nice video of a place I'm thinking of visiting, thanks.
Just one comment. For me personally, dropping the subtitles to the bottom of the screen would work better.

    Good video.
In the last two weeks I’ve done this course twice, the first time some of the small rock garden drop off’s took me by surprise and I didn’t look up enough on one part of the beast which meant I had to make a sudden unplanned change of direction.
The second time a week later my riding was far smoother, no track surprises and very enjoyable (not racing, but enjoying the track)
Overall it will become a regular ride in my off road adventures.
The last time prior to the above rides on this course was probably 15-20yrs ago, then on my 1998 26” wheeled Kona steel hardtail, the course has been greatly improved, more features added.
This time riding my near new Atherton AM 130 29er with Fox Factory suspension compared with the Kona hardtail feels to fly above the track and takes care of my every ham fisted manoeuvre…a guardian angel of a bike 🚴🏼‍♂️😁However, I still have the Kona, with the frame as previous but the brakes, wheels (still 26”) drivetrain etc have all been upgraded to modern standards ie tubeless tyres and 1x gears, disc brakes so I will take it over the course in the near future.

Thanks for the comment Frank. I invested in Atherton bikes a few years back. You're very lucky. Great bikes and i would certainly love to own one myself. Sounds perfect for the lime burner trail !

Looks like you missed the beast, which is the best bit.
Having travelled and tried a few other trails, it's certainly an easy red, but more of a red than sherwood pines. However both are still fun to just switch off and ride.
There's a second red trail in suffolk, tunstall viking trail. Much more natural than thetford, no type 2 in sight.

Agreed there is loads missing from this. The bit where he enters "the beast" he doesn't actually ride the beast but hits the bkue section that goes round it. There are at least 5 more black sections off the red course he doesn't see either.

@@stepthirtynineI mean none of the black sections are really blacks are they…. Reds in reality but I’ll admit a couple are steepish. Biggest issue is bushes catching the pedals.
All in all I’d agree, it’s a blue trail with a few red bits that can all be avoided.
