Love these ranked years cuz of 1987 I got lapidus and lady today at gas was like wow u smell good what is that I’m like it’s from the 80s she’s like it must be the musk lol great video my fav are Gucci nobile then Fahrenheit then fendi but I’m a fougere lover my fav genre and that Bally instantly became one of the best fougeres I got thanks ram as always the best fragrance channel in the world 🌎🤜🤛

The newer bottle of New West smells exactly like the older one (same goes for Havana). I've done a few comparisons. They're relatively inexpensive for a 3.4 oz bottle. I adore Antonio Puig Sybaris, it definitely grows on me upon every wearing. I came across a full bottle of Pancaldi about 15 years ago for $50 in a mom and pop store but I opted for the really tall bottle of DKNY Men instead...big mistake, I know. Que viva Jean Charles de Castelbajac!..I gotta try that JCC No.2.

I have all 5 versions and the only one that was reformulated to the point of changing it into a different perfume was the version made in England. If you do a 1986 one will you add it? Do you know if there were any fragrances that were produced in East Germany? I have the first formula of Esencia and I consider it a refined version of Polo. Not necessarily better, though. Not sure how it compares to your formulation, but it is something special...the flowers hidden on this heavenly pine smell 🤤. I recently got a vintage bottle of Furyo because of your recommendation and I was blown away for the evolution of the fragrance. The smokey drydown took me by surprise. By the way, I have a vintage bottle of Ambre Dore by Maitre Parfumeur and Gantier and it's amazing. Dirty, potent...nice stuff.
Yep seemingly perfumery in Grasse started from leather gloves perfuming. This was an artisanal practice that Caterina de Medici (I believe) brought from Tuscany in France when she got her royal marriage. Anyway she would not stand the leather smell and requested perfumed gloves the Tuscan way. That started the trend among her peers and the rest we know. Haven’t checked the historical facts.
Ram! 🎉 the esencia edp is the best aventus clone out there👀☝💥 i prefer the edt and pour homme but, in fact, if you want a good quality "aventus like" loewe, go for esencia edp!
I have a sample of Gucci Nobile I think it’s good but nothing groundbreaking it’s smilier to other scents that came out around that time but it’s a good edition as a collector to have but wouldn’t pay big money for a full size bottle.
Maxims pour homme is my favorite I just ordered another bottle cause it’s almost empty and I have a 50 ml the one I ordered is 100 ml I love the animalic woody tones it’s very strong so I only wear it in the fall/winter

I always found Knowing to be a little sickly on the floral, but the old Paloma Picasso is beautiful. I remember Farenheit being released, got my father wearing it and now my son wears it too, still love it.

Great video as always. Esencia is probably my favourite out of all those 💪 Davidoff Cool Water gets as much respect as Rodney Dangerfield 😂 It was my signature scent for a whole year way back when. The vintage (Lancaster) is more complex than the modern, has a woody dry-down, but not amberwoody like Eternity which I have grown to hate. And yes CW is in the same vein as Platinum Egoiste and GIT. Vintage Jaguar For Men is very metallic green and linear and meh and so redundant if you already have Sergio Soldano Black or Vermeil Casaque.

@@RamseytheRam yeah unfortunately I think that's incorrect from what I can tell and according to Bijan's own website their fragrance division only started in 1987. I believe the first ones from 1981 were only small batches not mass produced and were for women like the ones that were hanging from the chandelier in the Bijan store in Beverly Hills.
I read they put out an eau de cologne version of the scent that ran for some years then got pulled, than they re-issued it as an EDT in the mid to late 80s ...but I am not an expert ... if anyone knows for sure leave it in the comments below🙂

But Nobile, Esencia and Farenheit would be on there for sure. 🤍💚♥ Speaking of the Colors line from Benetton, I picked up Colors Man Black last year on a recommendation (and whim), and it's legit the worst fragrance buy I ever made, ever. 😆 And that's saying something. Literally pure, watered down woody ambers with almost nothing else. And a crap bottle to boot. Promptly gave it away. I will be getting a bottle of New West soon though. Seems appropriate for the season.
