    Joe, If I get distorted kind of sound (not fret buzz) on the low side, is that coming from the treble side of the head? Almost sounds like a fuzz box. Is the treble side too loose? Thks Jimmy.

    That's a really useful video, as I - a total beginner - need all the help I can get (getting a S/H instrument for my son's 18th - and I guess I'll be doing his maintenance). Excellent work ... and do you also have video of playing pieces through? Many thanks from the UK.

    Banjo Joe... I know that... but my backup has a single truss... and its giving me a fit. May use the backup for target practice this fall.

      So... Joe. I have a single truss. What I did was to observe your instruction again and then figured out the limitations of a single truss. Also how to set the banjo since the inner ring is set up differently, whereas the tension rod slides up or down in a wider oblong hole. OK... I liked your video, and your music I have heard on TH-cam. Thanks for the guidance. L.

  • @banjoboy01

    hey Joe the lateral angle of the neck is off (not the action but side to side) is the tail piece incorrect or the neck out of alignment and how to adjust? I thought I could shim where the neck meets the pot, is this a no no and is this a common problem?

    • @banjojoeanddanielle
      @banjojoeanddanielle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be the tail piece needs adjustment. The neck should be adjustable that way as well to get the strings to line up parallel to the fret board. Just have to loosen it and move it slightly. It may take a few times to get it where you want it.

    • @banjoboy01
      @banjoboy01 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@banjojoeanddanielle thanks I think the cheap tail piece was pushing the strings off the fretboard in the higher register, also my bridge may have been too wide, I'm really a classical guitar and lute player so you can imagine how narrow a banjo neck feels to me!

    • @banjoboy01
      @banjoboy01 ปีที่แล้ว

      also I did loosen the rod (it's a 200 buck washburn) and tried to reset the neck . there is a phillips head screw in the heal of the neck is that something I can adjust?

    • @banjojoeanddanielle

      Another banjo Joe did die, he was 96 when he died in 1979. He was not a white guy with red hair..😊
      Is this banjo Joe with bushy beard still alive
