dude this game and its madness musics have always given me impressive feeling since my childhood
This incredible music definitely adds to the intensity of the final boss fight. Constantly needing to revive my allies while Phobos throws relentless amounts of attacks at us, Making sure to use the guns every phase, trying not to hit the fire wall, all while head banging to this fucking banger

As someone who tried to beat it on Madness difficulty after beating the whole game, I can relate.
i will never regret buying this game, even if the final boss battle gave me a 3 fps gameplay.

no joke, i did actually beat his ass twice in 1 day, it was 11 AM, that time i just finished beat his ass on Tough difficulty, right after that, i see myself still got 1 hour left before my parents Come back home, so i Decided to go on full MADNESS difficulty on him.

@@emtcantaluope1367 You do realize you don't actually have to play The Rush after the first time you beat the game if you wanna fight Phobos again, right? If you go through the doors right next to The Rush in the overworld, you can JUST play Project Nexus (the actual final boss stage.)

Phobos' portrait is the only Portrait in the game to not move while he's speaking. It's just a still image, not even his model.

I probably think it's bc of the way phobos's model looks in that scene, and because of the way he looks the "portrait" cannot render him moving, but thats just my speculations I'm not a gamedev after all

I love the fact that this is a modified theme of the main menu, and if in the main menu this composition sounded mysterious and at the same time positive like "There are too many unsolved mysteries in Nevada... Especially in the Nexus... Go and solve them!"
Then in the battle with Phobos, it sounds energetic and less positive, as if saying with all her sound, "Your adventure has come to an end, you were able to solve everything, and turned off the Nexus! But there is one among you who will betray you soon...." I want to shake hands with all the creators of MADNESS Project Nexus 2, you are really well done!
Im glad you liked it! To be perfectly honest, around the end of development I was working on what became "Linebreaker" for the final boss fight. But I shelved it and went back to the drawing board. I figured Id try and do the whole Halo "mjolnir" mix on the main theme and see what I could do. Turns out the strong melody work I did all those years ago was suited for something big and epic for a nice finale.
"Main theme gets remixed for final boss theme" has to be my favorite trope for video game music.
No matter where it happens, its always an absolute banger.

How to make epic final boss music: Make it a hardcore emix of the main menu music.
Was one of those things over the years I meant to do throughout the soundtrack more. The idea was to sprinkle in melodies and themes into other songs but they ended up all just being individual pieces. So when it came time for a "final boss" I had originally started LineBreaker for it. But one day as an experiment I grabbed the ol Menu session and started playing around with it.
As the great words of bob ross,"Its our happy little accident"
Sonic the Hedgehog just skips the "hardcore remix" part entirely
Or, like scp secret lab, you can just make a certain part of the main menu song epic and then use that part.
I loved when hank said "It's Madness Time." and started madnessing everywhere.
When phobos said "i am MADNESS: Project Nexus" and started MADNESS: Project nexusing everywhere
An eternal reminder of what the pause menu refuses to accept.

One thing I absolutely love with Madness Combat it actually keeps the duration of the music consistently long especially for boss fights so you'll rarely notice it looping as you can actually finish a fight in that length of time
Honestly cheers to you locknar and the entire team, this was probably one of the most fun games i've played!

Imagine a mod that adds gestalt in terraria. You'd have to accidentally free him from a new biome or something, and after that he randomly spawns while you're doing something, and gets bigger each time you encounter him.

Tbh i kinda saw the achievement to defeat the final final boss before i got to it. Honestly thought it would be a flashback fight though. You guys really did knock it out of the park with music and story
I mean I was kinda expecting to fight Phobos tbh even though he was supposed to be already dead, I know it isn't uncommon to bring dead people back to life in the madness universe so I was still expecting it and definetely wasn't disappointed
well, the flashbacks are about where madness project nexus classic happens, you kill phobos in MPNC

Honestly, well after I've explored all the content of the game to my heart's content, I keep coming back to the music. I'm having the response I had with the new Doom games: it's like an amazing album with a free game attached. Y'all did an amazing job with this.

Just finished the game. What a masterpiece. Totally the best game i've ever played.
Really makes you feel like you're facing the final battle against a god-like entity with super powered high-tech weapons.
