While I understood your instructions, it kept me baffled on how you assigned the parameters (materials in this case) to the parts of the chair. The way i'm understanding on how the materials were applied is that it is still in the object styles menu hence why it kind of worked. To enumerate it.. 1.) Explode the objects and apply materials through layers in sketchup. 2.) Export it in Cad file 3.) Open cad file in autocad and select objects and select by layer 4.) Import it in revit. 5.) Go to Object Styles>Imported Objects>Change Materials While all the materials can be changed in object styles, the parameter you created won't change the materials because it wasnt exactly assigned specifically to all parts of the chair and that is my big question is how were you able to assign the materials specifically to the parts of the chair cause i'm really really trying to figure it out :(

I am doing plumbing design in revit. I am trying to update pipe materials. What I have done is that I have created a PVC type pipe. I have given it pvc martial finish where the color of the pipe will be the color of pvc. My system type is sanitary. When I draw a pipe on the floor plan its color appears green based on the my visibility setting for plan view. But when I switch my view to realistic, wired, consistent colors etc. then the pipe color changes to either black, cooper or other colors but not pvc (white). I want the pipe color to be pvc in the realistic view since I have selected pvc material when I have created pvc pipe type. Could you help me with that. Can you please tell me as to why the pipe is not changing to desired color in realistic or any other view.
how newly created parameter assigned to components of a chair, I mean you created a parameter with "leg" in the name, how it is assigned to legs of chair????
Hey guys ive figured it out, you have to convert your skp file to .sat file by opening said file in Rhino. There you can convert the skp. file to .sat file. if your revit is a 2016 version or earlier then you can directly use import cad. If you're using latter version of revit (2017-2021) you may need to install the "imoprt to sat as FF" plug-in in revit. This method the skp file-.sat file can be transformed to parametric family, where you don't have to go to object styles to associate materials. GOODLUCK download these files: Files 19: mega.nz/#!S1xHSIiB!3UICx55H4W... Files 18: mega.nz/#!ThxzgCyT!MH-c3LY4Cd... note: Before extracting these files you will need to right click .rar files and go to properties and check unblock. Once you've extracted these files you will transfer them to "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2019 or whatever version your revit is)". Once you've transferred the files to the designated path revit will automatically open (that's an indication that it's already installed in revit, go to add-ins tab and click external tools there you will find the plug in "import .SAT as FF".

I have multiple instances of the same family in revit. I want to apply different materials. But the layers cannot be duplicated? Any solution?
Brilliant
Thanks :)

@@MTHREVITTUTORIALS it dont work... how can I assigned the parameter ?
This means you can only change the actual properties of the material itself. You cannot assign a different material to the family. Correct?
No.. you can apply other materials too.
I want..one video plss upload.. how to create a task arm chair in revit..I want full video..I can't create this type of chair only..pls help me
