      so comprehensive that the 30 years war actually started 50 years before that and just escalated into more after the first 50 years...

      Where there are plains, he drew there and only there mountains (on the riverside). He switched up Bavaria flag with Palatinate flag and also never did a mention of a certain military superpower who were as a heathen tortured christians of both sides and was actively fighting Austria. I like the graphics really much, but from a history view there's a lot room for improvements.

    The thirty years war was a disaster all round for Europe with these competing factions, I think it is what is happening in the Middle East since 2000, a lot of blood and misery until all factions are exhausted and some sanity occurs, but I won't hold my breath.

      and a war raging up and down, back and forth throughout the whole country for thirty years. There is a very captivating (and funny/bizarre) German novel published in 1668 called "Abentheurliche Simplicissimus Teutsch" by Grimmelshausen. If you can get a modern English translation I can fully recommend it. I read it in German at the age of 12 and I loved it. I am mentioning my age not to brag about it but to illustrate that it is not a very difficult read but yet a super interesting adventure novel. playing out throughout the 30 years war.

      France was essentially the financial backer of the war for over 2/3 of the time it lasted. They came in as an active participant late after Sweden waned with the death of Gustavus Adolphus.

    • @bennyklabarpan7002
      @bennyklabarpan7002 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      France, Brandenburg and Sweden were the winners. Sweden profited immensely from the war, not really losign any soldiers as they used german & scottish mercenaries, France defeated the enveloping austrian domain and basically bankrupted Castile which has not recovered even today. Spain however didn't exsit at the time, their land was ruled by Austrians. Most of the imperial army was italian & german. The French crushed the imperials at nordlingen, not the other way around.

    • @EmisoraRadioPatio
      @EmisoraRadioPatio 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bennyklabarpan7002 "Not really losing any soldiers" The Swedish lost many men in Nordlingen and French subsidies were key to Sweden rebuilding its army after that bad defeat. Most importantly, the French destroyed the Spanish Army of Flanders a decade later in Rocroi, which left the Habsburgs without their best fighting force. You're referring to the Second Battle of Nordlingen. The first was a Spanish Imperial victory over the Swedes and Protestants, basically a slaughter that convinced France to intervene and save the Protestants. A Spanish Imperial victory in the Thirty Years' War would have meant France being surrounded by a powerful Habsburg dominion, and France could not permit that to happen again, as it occurred during the horrible Wars of Religion. French victory saw the hegemony in Europe swing from the Spanish/Austrian Habsburgs to the French Bourbons. Yes, Sweden was on the winning side, but only with the Grace of France. Sweden peaked in power soon after, while France remained a great power for centuries.

    • @EmisoraRadioPatio
      @EmisoraRadioPatio 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ericarmstrong6540 Yes. French intervention is known as the beginning of the French Phase of the Thirty Years' War. French intervention was triggered by the Swedish defeat at Nordlingen, after which it looked like Catholic victory was likely.

    • @bennyklabarpan7002
      @bennyklabarpan7002 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@EmisoraRadioPatio The swedish lead army in germany was german. Sweden lost resources that France gave them. It was a very profitable war for the elites in Sweden.
      The spaniards were not fighting in the thirty years war, they mostly relied on their italian subjects (Which were in fact subjects of the habsburgs). Spain was more of a piggy bank in the war, and italy was a piggy bank of spain.
      France status as a great power relied on the atrocities commited by the habsburgs, weakening germany to a point they never recovered from. Swedish power was shattered in the battle of fehrbellin in a war they joined to support France. Militarily Swedish power fell in 1710s/1740s/1790s depending on your view.

    You know, Europe looks like a big family feud before ww2 end. Talking about ww2 a lot, but this stuff started mostly after Romes fall, or mainly the Frankish empire. Since then just one tribe kicking themselves in the teeth to dominate. And although not militarily, the Frankish empire now rules Europe, being Germany, France and Italy. Most things are centered around Germany, which makes sense since they are at the center of Europe. I do get a feeling, if the US did not take over as superpower, there would still be wars of which Germanic nation has the biggest sack. And yes Britain is also part of that family fight fest, and by degree the most successful germanic peoples.

    like the video for its historical correctness (as far as short YT clips can do this justice) but why is it so difficult for American narrators to get prominent historical names right - Richelieu or Wallenstein; both names should be easy to get right (and even come with voice files on Wikipedia) and yet this American butchered them completely. ☹that was disappointing.

    • @greywolf7577
      @greywolf7577 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I looked up how to pronounce Richelieu. The video gets it correct. As for Wallenstein, I guess he thought the W was pronounced as V in the native language. And "stein" is often pronounced either as "steen" or "st-eye-n" in English, so it is understandable that he would make that mistake.
