Very useful video. I ordered one last week. Have the Hx Stomp and as much as I love it, the functionality has always drived me crazy. This should eliminate the frustration and make the “Stomp” much more user friendly. Thanks for the video.
It always amazes me how you guys make it sound so good and when I buy it plug it in and play it sounds like a record player from a pirate ship at the bottom of the Mariana Trench!🤦🏽♂️
Hahaha I'm struggling with it too if it helps. I'm worried there may be too many parameters for a moron like myself. I'm trying my hardest mind you habah
I use it by setlists. Each track has its bpm clock set and I use snapshots to move through each song. It's best to have a core template that has drive compression and the amp and cab, then alternate delays and reverbs as desired. For more options use a stereo reverb or delay in the loop. Use a TRS to dual TS cable. You can also place a compressor between the amp and cab and set to desired lvl. Then you can adjust the ratio in snapshots to add juice to solo lead lines or less compression 2:1 for rhythm parts.
One question : can you navigate through presets and inside of a preset can you send midi message to control for example a strymon timeline?? Also it will want a block ?
I know this is a gear vid but I can’t make out what’s going on harmonically at 0:44. It’s very groovy, but I’m on mobile and on the go and don’t have time to whip out headphones ~ sounds like a ii-m11 add something?
Ummm there's nothing too wild going on, I'm hearing the root as an Eb (chord 4 as I'm thinking of Bb for this tune as the key) then the three notes you're hearing over that are Bb, C and A which would be what a 6 and #11?
Hey I just ordered one of these thanks to your videos and thoughts! I didn't have any Helix devices before, and I needed something to play with headphones in the apartment. It helps that it can be a direct amp modeler, run on my board, or whatever I need. I think when I start gigging again this will be useful. The lack of DSP doesn't bother me if I supplement it with other pedals, it will only be used on its own in situations where I probably don't need insane pitch effects?
Definitely useful info, thank you John. Loved the intro music. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Question: is there a way to go from snapshot mode straight into edit mode? Like the HX effects does.
That intro track was smooth as silk man. Stunning chops. Thanks for the content. I'm looking to pull the trigger on my first Helix product - either HX Stomp XL or the LT. Unsure which to get. I do want a rig replacement so the LT DSP does tempt me - would the "16 block" hack work using path A and B on the Stomp XL work for a dual-amp setup and a couple of reverbs and delays, maybe a modulation effect?
Hey Justin! A dual amp set up on the Stomp XL will chew through the majority of the DSP - you'll be able to run possibly a Reverb/Delay and maybe mod, but you'll have to be super selective about using less DSP hungry models?
@@johnnathancordy hi John - thanks for taking the time to respond. Im not wedded to the idea of a dual-amp setup but if the functionality is there it'd be nice to explore. I think that means I need the LT then doesn't it
nothing like a real hands on review with the relevant details. Just got my XL version and will use your tutorial to sort things out
That is what I am looking for. Thank you. Please make a video of 6 button looper as well.

Great tips. This shows how versatile the pedal can be. Thanks for sharing.

Great video! thank you for getting right to the point and showing rather than telling.
Thanks dude, just got one of these and this saved me a massive headache.
Where do you get your bavking tracks? Sounds great...

Saludos me gustaría saber si en la hx stomp claro te da la opción de grabar
Could I control a Strymon Timeline via midi with the command center?
Yes you can… I do!
That's a Nice work

Nice video. Would it be possible for you to do this for the HX Effects? I still have no idea what the difference between bank and preset mode is.
stratocaster
Thank you! Extremely helpful in getting this set up the best way for my live use. I would’ve done it much less efficiently. I appreciate the help!

Do you also have a Rodders preset?
For Fools....
Ohhhh that intro and transition to the verse...or chorus...whichever....delicious 👅👅🕶🎶
In no way is it easy or predictable but I just kept playing with it, figured it out. Hardly a pro but I can now get around the playground.
Great playing and lovely tones

I hope not I think I'm gonna fail
You'd do it cause it attacks your dogs in the night instead of micing in the barn like it's supposed to
(Hand)y guide to footswitching
