I have started doing some art lately and I always found myself drawing characters wearing turbans because they are so beautiful. I am catholic but I have always admired other religions with such different cultures.

I came to learn why, and I am impressed by the meanings given to the turban, especially the significance of "I am sovereign in my own being". I have been listening to a lot of female singers who wear turban so this satisfied my curiosity.
I totally agree with this. I've been wearing a turban for almost 2 years. & I notice a difference between wearing vs not wearing it. Although my mom still has a very hard time with me wearing it since she's "Bapticostal". (A mix of Baptist & Pentecostal). Although I'm still working on it.
It is easy to criticize but difficult to do things of your own. Atlleast she is making an effort to share some information available to her. If anyone finds anything wrong with it, simply correct in humble manner. What is the need to be aggressive, calling names, trying to put someone down. I wrap my head very often in African American styles and I have noticed that there is a pressure point that makes me feel calm, cool, and collected. I am glad to have watched this video and I understand now why I prefer to wrap my head most days

I read a article about American Indians that joined the military and when they cut their hair their abilities to be scouts was lessoned. It went on to say long hair is like some kind of antenna for humans. I also have read that is wise to get a good hair trim after a bad experience. To cut off negative energy. Usually when s women would come in and want her hair cut short I always asked did you just break off a relationship? Usually the answer was yes. I used to be a barber. I had many male clients that worked in the local steel mill. Most all of them had balding from the hard hats they had to wear. Dead skin cells and oil have a much harder time shedding if you wear a head covering.
I'm Indian and I do yoga everyday. Give it a try and feel the difference :) It really helps you on your spiritual path, just like you would eat healthy and work out to live a good disciplined lifestyle. The yoga helps and is a very powerful tool to help you physically, mentally and spiritually. I would recommend it to everyone. Amazing video explaining the turban by the way! Thanks for the explanation. World cultures are all valid because they have deep, often practical and valid meaning. The diversity of human cultures is important, just as the diversity of nature is. I have come here from reading an article of bullying of s Sikh boy in the BBC News. The boy gave up his turban at 11 so as to stop being bullied in school and to be liked by girls. He then became more accepted in school but he lost himself. 20 years later he took up his turban and found peace with himself again. When he was without the turban he did not like the person he was, he was lost. Being who we are is more important than being 'accepted' by others. We should not give up who we are and our values and customs to please others. What matters is who we really are and are happy to be. Bullying is a terrible act of intolerance of others and others' cultures. It is an ignorant and terrible negation of diversity. Diversity is enriching. It must be stopped.

Living in the awareness of Divine Energy that governs the Universe (Om and Ek Omkara in the Hindu faith, and in the Sikh faith) helps us to live at our highest potential. Wearing of turban symbolizes to the wearer that he is living in the 'Divine Law'.
I wonder why monks go bald and still be into spirituality . I think there's more to it and one reason of turban was the symbolism that we all are kings - its kind of a crown.

when you say white sikh what does it mean 1) you are born to sikh parents who immigrated and that is how you are a sikh, but you would rather call yourself white sikh ! Guidance on sikhism then your parents can give you. 2) you converted from some other faith to Sikhism. Guidance can be given by whoever helped you convert. 3) out of nothing better to do, you started wearing a turban. Guidance then is find a purpose or something meaningful to do. If you have tried tested everything, you should start with reciting the prayer japji sahib.

I think the turban looks okay but you should only practice your religion in your home or special place of worship. If you have to take it off to wear a hardhat or helmet then you should take it off. No big deal.

I think the turban looks okay but you should only practice your religion in your home or special place of worship. If you have to take it off to wear a hardhat or helmet then you should take it off. No big deal.

Alness It’s not hygienic if you don’t wash your turban material or hair but Sikhs have a strict rehat maryada where it has to be clean it’s the ahold point of a kangha being a part of the 5 kakaars.
