This video highlights the major flaw in DCS, the AI bomber gunners dont engage very well if so at all, the B17 bottom gunner and rear gunner should have been shredding you apart, still thanks for the video
The rear gunner, like most of the crew, was killed with the rocket, but I agree, they should be more potent.

I’ve been reading a book on German fighter pilots during the war, they’re preferred tactic vs the B-17 was head on. However, in DCS, this leads to many, many collisions with them 🤣

Ah finally! I don’t have to get strafed by JU-88s in my jug anymore 😂 and I don’t have to waste most of my ammo in the process!
In mission editor, setting up a formation like you did, what do you set reaction to threat for the bombers? If set to none, do the Gunners still fire but the aircraft stay in formation?
You can set the roe to never fire. For the “4 ship” bombers, the reason they didn’t fire much is two fold; in the dynamic mission their skill level is random and the manoeuvre’s Snowman and I did confused the AI as to who they wanted to shoot.
Question, against the JU that has ball turrets on the dorsal and ventral sides, you prefer coming in from bellow. Why not from the top? Is it easier to manage closure rate?
The JU doesn’t have a ball turret, the B-17 does. I’ve found the B-17 bottom turret less accurate than the top for the AI gunners.
