  • If you spin of the track and stall the engine with a KZ2 shifter kart you have to push the kart to start it again. This is how i did it (and how i failed the first attempt)

Added overlay data with Dashware using the Unipro 6003 laptimer / datalogger data
(Gear position number is a calculated value from the speed data, so not always accurate)

How do you manage to show your speed and rpm (and everything else) on your video?

I use the free software "Dashware" to visualize the Unipro 6003 laptimer / datalogger data on the video footage. The laptimer logs all data like speed (sensor on rear axle), laptime (magnetic sensor on bottom plate of kart), rpm, temperatures and g-force. This data can be exported and used in Dashware. Gear position number is a calculated value from the speed data, so not always accurate.

Why not just pull the clutch and pop 1st gear? So much easier!

1st gear? starting the kart is always done by shifting from neutral to 2nd as far as i know. But will try it when i think of it next time :-)

@@THEMR2RACER I have done around 10000 laps over the past 10 years (not kidding) and found for me that 1st gear is much easier (as long as you have warm tyres). Put in 1st, hold clutch, run a couple of meters jump and pop clutch just long enough to geht the engine running and pull the clutch immediately to help the engine start freely!

@@mexicanfoodporn Thanks for the tip! Never done it that way but will certainly try it next time!

What camera/software are you using for data overlay?

@Anthony By making fast turns ;-) But also with the G-Force sensor for the Unipro laptimer
      direct-karting.com/en/g-force-sensor-unipro-laptimer-6003-7003
I use "Dashware" to put all the telemetry data from the laptimer on the video.

I think you've seen exactly that in this video :-) Gearbox in neutral, make as much speed as possible before jumping in and pull the gearbox into 2nd gear as fast as possible after jumping in. Letting the engine run a bit in the paddock before you go to the track helps a lot!
