One serious call, one phantom call

All or nothing. Some days are like that. Some calls sound routine and turn out to be extremely serious, while other calls seem serious but turn out to be nothing at all. Today's shift is a good example of that. Ride along for a routine medical call that changes into the most serious of them all. Later that afternoon ride along for a reported vehicle accident that never was.

spdklls7 I'm not sure which red light you're concerned about, but if it's the second one at the highway, it may be helpful for you to know there was a car approaching from the left in the fast lane at high speed. It went behind the black HGV and I lost sight of it at that point. I wasn't sure that car intended to stop let alone reduce speed, so I went through the intersection extra slowly and cautiously until such time as I could could see that car again and verify it was going to yield. Our ambulance getting t-boned and disabled in the intersection wouldn't have helped the patient much either.

@@spdklls7Ummm the patient wasn’t having a heart attack actually! They were in cardiac arrest meaning they were basically deceased. 😊

We had a call last summer for a fire, we'd been to that location a couple weeks before for a fire. On the way there, dispatch had a second caller reporting a fire about 2 miles away. We sent one truck to the original call and our other truck to the new one. When we got closer we found a farm yard with no fire; they were reporting the same one that we were going to but there was miscommunication between them and dispatch and they thought it was a second fire at the yard.
