    These cables work great! I do agree there is not enough explanation on the box. I just bought an RJM Mastermind PBC. I hooked up from scratch with these cables, 14 pedals, effects loop in and out, front of amp input and a gig rig cinco cinco. This was two sets of 24 and a 12. Every single cable worked the first time and has continued to. Here's how. I have used G L's for years and these are better in my opinion however much of the principals are the same.
    Figure out cable length factoring in cable amount in the jack itself.
    Cut the cable perfectly straight on a piece of wood with a sharp razor knife. (I use a paint stir stick)
    Using a magnifying glass and under a good light make sure the core wire is centered and away from the ground wires. You should see the center wire with the plastic clear sheathing then the ground wire then the outside black sheathing.
    Roll the end a little with two fingers to make the wire pliable and the sheathing is ever so slightly even or past the core wire.
    Stick the end of the wire into the jack with MEDIUM pressure till it stops and give a 1/8 turn or twist. Over tightening or pushing will not work. Snug is the operative word.
    Optional hack: I use a drill bit slightly smaller then the screw hole and by hand give it a couple of twists with light pressure. Just to score the sheathing.
    Keeping the cable and jack together with one hand and with other hand apply the screw.
    Keep the screw flush. Not under and not over the edge of the jack. (repeat other end)
    Test the cable for continuity for hot to hot, ground to ground then hot to ground for any shorts.
    I use a multimeter then a cord checker from Beringer.
    Using this method on every cable, without exception, worked the first time.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks, JD

    Quick tip that will save you time. I ended up just using a multimeter on the ohms function and touched the gold tip to the other and checked for continuity. If you dont get that it's a bad cable

    Assembling these cables is awful and I don't believe anyone who says they didn't have a frustrating go of it and a high failure rate when attempting to put a bunch of these together. I've made numerous attempts at the same cables, spent hours, and I have two functioning cables and dozens of failures to show for it. I'm not incompetent, honest.
    These cables suffer from terrible design - the shaft of the jack is way too tight around the cable, which makes it very difficult to get the cable in far enough for it to function, especially given the wrap on the cable is not taught enough around the cable, nor is the cable stiff enough to drive it in as far as necessary for it to properly function. In addition, the set screw has no head to stop it, so it's easy to screw it in too far and drive it through the cable, which causes failure. This Boss cables kit is cheaper than some, but certainly still not in the "bargain price" category where they *should* reside, because putting these together endlessly and failing most of the time is frustrating as hell. Run away! Don't buy these!!

      I agree with much of what you say, but once you get the knack it's not impossible to make perfectly fine cables.

      There's a couple of tricks you gotta do, otherwise you will screw up a lot of cables. But I agree, oncr you get the hang of it, it's fairly simple. So long as you prep them properly

    Hey, man. Nice video. Is it possible to get a 90º connector with this kit? All videos I see about this is straight connector.

    • @LeviBulger
      @LeviBulger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you've connected them, you can bend them 90°. They're made to do that

    • @thehont8648
      @thehont8648  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. The connectors that come with the kit allow the cable to be bent at 90 degrees, so you can have either configuration with the same connector.

    There's a decent ratio of people saying this stuff is absolutely awful to put together - at a much lower price than other pedalboard cable kits, would you say they're just making it wrong or expecting too much of a cheaper product? I don't mind a few attempts if it saves me £100+. Thanks for the video.

      I'd say they're making it wrong, but there definitely is knack to it, which is why I made the video. The first couple I made didn't work, so there was a bit of trial and error. If you follow the video, though, you should get the hang of it and once assembled they're as good as anything else I've used. Hope that helps.

    what Brand of Cable use by Boss?,,,it's a Mogami brand?

      Whatever cable Boss decided to use is very good. I bought the same kit(24 connectors) and the signal quality is flawless. I used to use Livewire on my pedal board, but it kept giving me problems so this brand is very good.

    Man... these cables sucks. I had the planet waves solderless kit since 2011, never had one single problem. Bought this boss kit and I'm trying for about 3 hours and can't make it work. They should remove it from market. Money in the garbage.

    Worst patch cable kit on the market. Near impossible to get the cable to go in to the connectors properly - the shaft is too small a diameter. I got one out of 5 patches to work before throwing the lot in the bin. Spend a few extra dollars and get something better.

      Wish I had done enough research and seen reviews like yours before purchasing these garbage cables. Couldn't agree more -- frustrating as hell.

    Awesome, high-resistance cables.... That's if they work at all. FFS people, learn to solder or buy ready-made leads!

      .. Maybe just listen to what he says then..?
      Roll the ends with a bunch of force before inserting them, inserting them is easy, you'll know when you've hit the end. That's the entire trick.
