Definitely need to read the codes. Possible causes, MAF sensor, Fuel pressure sensor, CKP or CMP sensors, blocked fuel filter in tank, fuel pressure regulator, the list goes on. Could even be related to a transmission fault, especially if it's CVT.
Definitely not a clutch slip issue - if that were the case, the revs would shoot up without any increase in speed. Definitely a limp mode thing looking at that dash!
The Acura's problem could be a catalytic converter failing, that is getting plugged up or in my experience a plugged fuel filter: Symptoms included a loss of power and no acceleration above a certain RPM. However, up to that point all seemed fine. For context, this was '91 Nissan Stanza that was about 9 years old, and the new fuel filter fixed the problem.
2:17 The broken shock isn't that much of a concern compared to the airbag holding up the car, with no jack stands, and he's under it. That looks like a Darwin award waiting to happen.
@@malice6081 As per the manual: _"The load must be supported by approved vehicle support stands or other appropriate means immediately after raising the load"_ So anyway, what were you saying about under informed comments?
@@-Fritz- Considering the narrow view given by his camera, how can you be certain the support was not just out of your view? Also, the one tire seemed to be on the ground so it looks to me as if he was supporting the differential housing so it wouldn't sag with the other wheel removed.
Flashing check = Limp mode so that the engine doesnt further damage itself. Theres either a whole sensor bank thats out or some manifold or something isn't functioning.
The Acura could be in limp mode or have an intake vacuum leak after the MAF sensor. A common problem on Hondas and Acuras was the intake duct cracking and leaking.
That Acura might be in something called "Limp Home" mode, basically the cars ECU detects major fault and has power and such reduced to allow you to make it home if the car is able to run at all. Had this happen on a Nissan of mine that I tried to teach an Ex how to drive stick on. She stalled it enough that this happened but clearing the code solved it.
Mercedes got the Notlaufprogramm wich is basicly the same. You got less than half the power, check engine light is on and its no fun to drive. But at least you can drive to a shop or leave the lonely desert.
The mystery problem vehicle looks to be a 2007-2008 Acura TL Type-S. As for the solution, a similar issue in my 2009 Civic Si was banished with an oil change and replacing the VTEC solenoid, a known failure point for aging Honda/Acura engines. But as others have pointed out, the CEL code(s) needs to be pulled. Any number of sensors could be prompting the ECU to put the engine into limp mode, and computer diagnostics are the most effective way to narrow down the culprit(s).
4:04 It also could be stuck in some sort of limp mode restricting the speed and rpm the car can go: If battery has been dead (for substantial amount of time) car would go in emergency mode. Only dealer has software to reset (and takes a minute of 15). Happend to me when picked up a car from grandmother.
I don't know how some of these people make it to the shop I have seen some things like this over the years but it seems like the cats are falling apart faster than they used to. I towed a 8 month old Honda civic to the dealership for wheel bearings on all four wheels. The dummy had removed the factory wheels and installed a set of offset wheels that stuck out like turtle feet. I did my best to explain to him that the wheel bearings were bad because of the wheels he installed explained how the center of the wheel was center of the bearings and he can't change it without damaging the bearings. He insisted he was going to get warranty on it. The shop explained it to him for a half hour and finally called the police and had him removed from the shop he then abandoned the car there and it was repossessed
Transmission issues commonly cause the car to stay in 2nd gear (or similar) and restrict the engine revs to avoid damaging things but still allow the car to be driven. Probably a valvebody issue in the transmission but impossible to know from just that clip.
the second last customer at 4:05. maybe the automatic transmission goes to "emergency program" because of a defect and this program sends signals to the engine control, which then regulates the engine down for safety.
acura... we had a honda come in with the same problem,,, they put a new air filter in the car... forgot to remove the plastic wrapper.... we fixed for free... customer , happy
2:46 DO NOT DO THIS EVER! Always UNPLUG your Ignition coil! There can still be a spark jumping to some metal and igniting the fuel. Also theres a high chance you will kill the coil and your ECM/ECU due to the voltage building up and jumping to the control wires due to the missing path to ground. This actually happens a lot with some FIAT (Punto) models and BMW (E46 i think?) due to poor grounds and bad coil design.
The car not accelerating could possibly be an issue with key being used. Sone keys can be programed, that when used, limit the max speed. If its a used vehicle with multiple keys provided, one might just have been programed that way.
The Acura is in limp mode. It not going fast is not the issue. Something else is wrong so the computer won't let it drive as it should. Scan codes, it'll tell you why!
That Acura problem is caused by fuel starvation. Start by troubleshooting the fuel system. Something is clogged or not building up enough fuel pressure.
Definitely a electronic issue with the computer and electric fuel regulator acting like a governor! Welcome to the world of truck drivers issues!! Hey that's something every kid should have until they are 30 years old so they drive like they can't do anything else 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Shocks don't do anything but control spring compression and rebound. But for a heavy duty truck , yeah not being able to co trol a load would be sketchy.
For sure a limp-mode thing. I had my 2010 Equinox with 2.4L do this when my throttle-body crapped out. Stupid GM charged me for a whole new TB since you CANNOT BUY ONLY THE ELECTRONIC PART !!!!!! Lame !!!! 🤬
Think that cars in Limp Mode. Could be something as simple as a blocked air cleaner element, or something much more serious. That's what Fault code scanners are for.........
Tha Acura sounds and acts just like my Buick century did when the cat was bad. The cat was so clogged the car couldn't flow properly. Sometimes some cars will do this when the fuel filters are clogged. I had a 78 Cadillac coupe DeVille with a Chevy diesel engine in it , when the filters got clogged the car would only go about 35 mph no matter how hard you pushed the throttle.
Id bet the Acura has a dead / dying coil pack or spark plug, the "shuddering" its doing under full throttle will be the fuel overwhelming the spark leading to a hard miss-fire
shuddering is from the rev limiter. electronic stuff. ECU detects error and safes the engine by reducing the power output so you can make it home at least. otherwise you would propably ruin the engine completly
The Acura's engine went into limp mode. My late husband's "engine" would go limp if it wasn't revved up often enough. I would put a little "blue pill" in it's tank to "perk" the little thing up. At least that worked for my man.....😂
If you over heat your car it’ll put in limp mode, if the ecu doesn’t have proper voltage, clutch slip, torque converter slip, transmission damage, running lean, running rich, pcm or Tcm has low voltage. Give me a code god damn it
@4:20 the Acura is in Limp mode. Go to any Honda/Acura dealer to get Hondiagra to get rid of the limp mode for more erect acceleration and normal drivability/performance.
Ants in the vehicle doesn't appear to be because of a nasty dirty vehicle. Could be as simple as the ants using it as a waterproof home if there's been a lot of recent rainfall. Or it could be that the ants are using the car as an incubator. It doesn't matter how clean your car is it can still happen. We had a brand new car that the ants moved into the first night we had it.

Low oil more than likely, my 04 Honda does that when the oil is low.
Nissan's do the same limp-mode thing when the MAF is bad.

Throw a codereader on it and read out the codes.

I was going to say... my gf's Stang had the same issue. 4 cats, all garbage.
It can be cats or muffler clogged. I used to have the same symptoms on an older Ford years ago, ended up with a clogged muffler.
It says check TPMS system. That is Tyre Pressure Measurement System. And yes, many cars are programmed to go into limp mode when this occurs.
The laughing bearing cracked me up.

Not slipping. Engine management has put it into limp mode to reduce damage.
As always, brilliant but the laughing car the best one for ages.
Flashing check engine light...it's in protection mode.
The Acura is in "limp mode" and likely needs a proper diagnostic scan to see what sensor set it off.

I cringe every time I see someone spin a tire with exposed steel belts. Shredded fingers/hands hurt really bad.
4:20 It seems like the car goes into limp mode for some reason, use a diagnostic tools to read codes.
Oxygen sensor
My Park Avenue started doing the 3500 limit on rpm but would surge when throttle pushed for more.
1:15 that's not hydro-locked. It wouldn't be turning over if it was as water doesn't compress.

Acura is in limp mode. It's broken. 4:28

That Acura problem is caused by fuel starvation. Start by troubleshooting the fuel system. Something is clogged or not building up enough fuel pressure.
I had the honda limp mode with a clogged v tech screen, less oil pressure in head
2:08 Brampton, Ontario strikes again!
1:30 i want that wheel bearing lol
Limp mode or valet key. Based on the lights on the dash, I'd say limp mode.
The acura is a main relay failure happening. Experience first hand gets to point ecu won't work
Acura not accelerating could mean its in limp mode. One cause can be a bad cam or crank position sensor.
