Its so refreshing that you guys are brining the real India from Himachal to our living rooms.
My Naani used to make all sorts of everyday items, grain storage, designer plasters for walls, and top them up with vibrant color designs...... she is no more but I still clearly remember those from my childhood. Happy Memories 😊😊
Greetings from the land of earthships. I designed my 1000 sq. ft. passive solar adobe house in northern New Mexico 33 years ago. Considered building an earhship at the time. Several years ago the NM governor cut off the gas for about 5 days to 30,000 people in my area when the weather went down to 25 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit, not Celsius). My gas boiler froze but the geraniums in my south window survived. My house now has no heat, but I dress warm in the winter and the geraniums and I do just fine. My sister was an artist with adobe, plastered walls with different colored clays mixed with mica, including bas relief work. I helped her a bit with the basic mix and base coat. Mud is heavy. I think her mud mix used quite a bit more straw, and we always used sand mixed with clay/dirt. No cow dung.
This is something which every tribal region of our state should embrace. Be it lahoul, spiti, bharmour, pangi.... Everywhere. Moti hi shi cheez yr Ronnie bhai ❤

I used to live with my parents in my village and there we have a portion that is mud house and now we were planning to change it for the parking space but after looking at this going to change it to a mud house as we are somewhat familiar about the type of mud and everything. Good. That is what village life is all about. We have done our part growing up in our villages, however it has slowly disappeared with prosperity and vanishing of cattles. Younger millenials don't want to pursue farming as catering to cattle and farming is 24*7 job. All the best. Atleast now younger generation have lahaul to go back to.
