  • Sennheiser impressed last year with the high end Momentum headphones, and now they're positioning the Urbanite line as their mid-range audio experience. A unique blend of modern design and incredible build quality, do these cans have what it takes to stand up to more established "FashionPhones" brands? Let's take a listen!

    Nice to see consumer-type headphones reviewed by an audio pro. Those cans look and may sound beautiful, but man, that mic... it sounds amazing! I guess you can't expect less from Sennheiser. Thanks Juan Carlos.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      My perspective is TOTALLY skewed on cans, as I'm still likely to reach for a pair HD25's, but these consumer solutions are getting really good. Now when we pay more for a little "fashion", at least it means we're getting build quality like this.
      And that Mic man! I was shocked last year at CES when I tried out the Momentum. You're just not really ever going to find a company that can build a better mic.
      Here's a video I shot with a V-Moda headset from the CES2013 show floor - th-cam.com/video/NwYE6u5O-V4/w-d-xo.html
      And here's a video I shot using the Momentum - th-cam.com/video/qXpM10frh8w/w-d-xo.html
      Insane.

    Great video. I know my topic is off here but i really want to share something with you sir. I just got the lumia denim update for my lumia 1520. Man,it is awesome. Everything is improve about the camera. The speed when you press the camera button from the lock screen and go into the camera is fast. The 4k video is just amazing. Hope you do the video about this update soon. Thanks

    Nice video Juan! Was looking at getting these a few months ago, decided for something cheaper, your video is making me wanna save up for those! The headphones I have though (which just broke due to a hard drop) were the Bluedio T2S $20-30 depending on where you find them. I think you should give them a try, especially since they're so cheap. I was really rough on them honestly, they were well built. Nice vid again, looking forward to more!

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad you enjoyed the review. I think these cans might handle some rough use a _BIT_ better.
      I'll check out those Bluedio. I don't want to exclusively review expensive stuff. Finding a great inexpensive gem is REALLY satisfying.

    • @CmanGrunt
      @CmanGrunt 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, they were satisfying for two months, but I think I just need more durable iem's or save up for those. (Sorry, I'm a tech geek [really] but I'm still 14 and have a minimum pay wage of $5 a week, so the urbanites aren't coming for a long while, maybe after report cards. :) ) JuanBagnell

    I don't know why I never saw this review, after searching a lots of reviews of that headphones. Sadly my first pair are broken, but when is visit the Sennheisers stockist from my country and I found the "nation" version at $50 was like shut up and take my money. (I was thinking to buy a momentum 2.0 at $250 but that price was more than excellent).

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whoa! You got Urbanites for $50?

    • @nahbicris
      @nahbicris 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SomeGadgetGuy Yes I got it a that Price, the stockist said me that they had a discount on the urbanite line they were at $100 but I saw the nation and they said me that it had more discount, because they were the ones in the showcase of course I bought it without thinking twice xD.

    I've had the Beats Solo 2 for a week or so and i was impressed with the sound quality and bass. But they are not wireless, neither are these though. I am really going for wireless and it's not gonna be between Urbanite XL Wireless versus Solo 2 wireless. I hope to see a review of Ubranite XL Wireless here. And they only are a little bit more than the wired ones.
    Music i listen to it....Michael Jackson, singer/songwriter, hiphop, some Rock. So i really do love a powerful BUT not killing bass and just great sound quality.

    Great review! I'm in the market and wondering if you have any thoughts on how they compare to the Bose QC25. I can't find a review on TH-cam for these two. Also, for someone that's planning to watch movies and listen to some Rock music are these a good fit. Thanks for the great review & keep up the great work!

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kulet James I think they're a very solid offering for multimedia. Not the punchiest for movie sound design, but solid overall performance. As for the Bose, I wish I could weigh in, but I've never held on to a pair of Bose long enough to give them a proper review. Sorry.

    It's kinda weird that this thing's in-line mic sounds way better than those of headsets you've reviewed later (g4me zero and cloud2) =/
    missing your headphones/headsets reviews btw

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +pinkpanda This one punched WELL above it's price tag. I was a little disappointed in G4ME ZERO.

    • @awesomeop0ssum
      @awesomeop0ssum 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I agree with you. This inconsistency dissaponts me, I mean some of their products feel well worthy of their pricetag and even more while some others do not at all. For me, it looks like they simply don't consider gamers to be picky and experienced customers. Not to say they're completely wrong, but most of gaming headsets pricing is way higher than it should be (and it's true not only for Sennheiser).

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      pinkpanda
      You'll see that a lot in audio in general. Mics are priced the same way where some "consumer" solutions are more expensive than nicer "pro" equipment.

  • @borisahsmann7190

    Fantastic review! But I have just one question. I already own a pair of V-Moda M100s, is there still a reason to get these? For some reason I really want to get them but there doesn't really seem to be a point in doing so.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know. Unless you want a collection of different headphones, I'm going to say no for now. The V-Moda have a slightly more exaggerated EQ, though I don't find it egregiously over-saturated, and while I like the build of the Sennys better, the V-Moda modular cable system is kinda fun.

  • @manipularsilver
    @manipularsilver 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review man. Question for ya though, is there an easy way to get to use the mic on a PC with the corded version? Noticed you said you're using your audio recorder and not specifically your PC. If there isn't I'd probably pick up the wireless versions of them, and am wondering if you could recommend the best bang:buck to a Bluetooth receiver/adapter to get the best quality, don't want to throw too much money at it, after all.
    Cheers.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your PC. If it has a combo headphone/mic jack like a phone then you'll be fine. If you use separate headphone and mic jacks then you just need a Y adapter splitter like this - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058DOWH6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0058DOWH6&linkCode=as2&tag=theramofsomau-20&linkId=AOSXK3CJDJRSECJJ
      Probably be a LOT cheaper than going bluetooth and also buying a BT transmitter if your computer doesn't have it built in.

    • @manipularsilver
      @manipularsilver 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell right on thanks a bunch man, wasn't sure if a cable like that would do the trick. I might still go with the BT version because I use an extension cable most of the time as it is. Any recommendations on USB receivers then or no idea?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, my splitter worked a trick on connecting the headphones to my recorder. Super easy.
      As for a BT receiver, I haven't bought one in a REALLY long time, but the last one I grabbed was a D-Link, and I had good experiences there.
      I've also been happy with my IOGEAR kit of late, but I haven't used their BT adapter. Looks really solid for the price though www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GFX0PY/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007GFX0PY&linkCode=as2&tag=theramofsomau-20&linkId=KSSUN34GF2YWAMMT

    • @manipularsilver
      @manipularsilver 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell You've been ridiculously helpful man, but just one last question that just came to mind. With the wired version (or wireless I suppose) do the touch controls work well on PC, and any idea if there play/pause control can be set to mute or unmute audio on PC? You've honestly been more helpful than their support was for me.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I don't think any wired controls (from any headset) work on PC, so that might be a good reason to to use BT? Windows 8 responds well to my other BT headphones' controls.
      Happy to help bud. Of course I can ALWAYS use more help sharing these vids?

      yes, i find these better for supressed gunfire as these are bassier, the momentums are better in higher pitch sounds, the s's sound nice on this but they are amazing on the momentum. For gaming i prefer these over the momentums.the S is not bad on these but you could find it better on momentums
