I actually live on this route (more specifically on the Witham-Braintree branch), where I used to hop on Class 321 trains to get to Chelmsford, where i used to work. Chelmsford and Witham stations are both extremely well replicated, and Colchester is also very close. Of course, I play this, and regularly simulate runs on the GEML, using the class 90 locos and 321 EMUs (these drive past my house in real life.) it's surprisingly brilliant. :)
+Alec Barradale I've not been further than Shenfield along this route in real life but from what I've seen of that section in the game it looks pretty close to how it looks in real life. I have to say that this is one of my all time favourite routes to drive in Train Simulator :)
Harmen Bosma Thank you Harmen :) My next video will be online soon. I thought the same thing about the rolling stock. While some journeys will end up with rolling stock used before, I try to vary it as much as I can.
34:20 The facility on the left was the Arla dairy facility which was closed in early 2017. There is now a housing estate on the site. I commuted from Hatfield Peverel to Chelmsford daily for six years.
Hi PTGRAIL, I want to thank you for producing these wonderfully informative videos. I love your approach to driving the routes realistically without the help of any driving aids. I enjoy watching them even if I don't have the DLC. For myself and I'm sure many others also, it is the only way to play train simulator. If I have one suggestion it would be if you could perhaps talk us through an overview of the route and all the stops via Google Earth or Google map before you start any of the route. It would add a lot for someone that may not be knowledgeable of the area. Also on the map point out some highlights such as junctions and where each line splits and joins to/from as you already do in your video. Thanks again and I look forward to more videos in the future.
Rain Song Hi Rain Song, Thanks for the comment! I will certainly take your suggestions on board and see what I can do in future videos. The next video is already made so I can't do anything for it, but I will certainly look into utilising your suggestions for videos after that :)
I believe the MSTS original era was the best as the route expansion packs had all the locos come with it as well lots of free content and later the Ispwich to Norwich extension with an update with an era update too as making-tracks were very good so when you compare this to the original Great Eastern expansion for MSTS it shows how much has changed since then.
I enjoy watching your videos and very handy for learning the routes for the future as if want to be a train driver for the future, it's a good start. I was wondering what you use to zoom as I see, you are able to zoom out more than default in the cab. Cheers and keep up the good work!
+The Singer Jake Oram Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoy watching these videos! Indeed, I have changed the FOV settings on my Train Simulator. I made a handy tutorial on how to do it for yourself :) th-cam.com/video/PwWd1gVhT9U/w-d-xo.html
Love the accurate detail of London Liverpool Street also does the scenario include the full route up to Stansted airport as I live near there and know the route well
+kev775 Unfortunately this route doesn't go to Stansted Airport. In Train Simulator they've modelled the route from Liverpool Street to Ipswich, including the branches to Braintree, Colchester Town and Felixstowe. Just Trains recently released a scenery extension to include the branch to Harwich.
i used to live down in Broxbourne which is on the line (between Stansted and Liverpool Street) and ive been waiting forever for them to make it. recently they have been doing routes as expansions for others. like with he Goblin line. they just took the East London line and added the Goblin to it. so now you have both rather than 2 separate routes. Just Trains are doing the same with their Western Mainlines route. so im hoping RSC copy that (like with the Goblin line) and add the other mainline from Cambridge and Stansted to Liverpool Street. we can only hope.
The lag you experience seems to be specific to this particular model and colour variation. There's a particular scenario which features it which is impossibly laggy despite me getting good fps on the same route ordinarily.
Your route learning runs are great I look forward to them very much, but your videos are very dark and I can't see ahead of me I tried adjusting my computer. but keep them coming they great looking forward to some more. David.
David Murphy I'm sorry that they are coming across as dark. I'm not entirely sure why as they look fairly clear and bright at my end. I'm glad you are enjoying these videos! Thanks for your comment :)
Hey I would like to know if you could help me out a bit, so after doing all the pre trip setups for the train I still have a continuous beeping sound in the cab, would anyone know why that is?
Hi there. Great vid. I just referred to the Anglia sectional appendix, it shows that the the higher permissible speed on the fasts is available to this train - specifically it states classes 321, 322, 360 and class 90 + mk3 stock can utilise the higher speed. When the route was ran with class 86 + mk2 stock this may have been restricted to 80mph over the outer-London section, due to the lower braking performance of that stock. Possibly why nowadays there are two ex-intercity trains per hour when on the cl86 days there was just one. Pages 27-38.... www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20documents/sectional%20appendix/anglia%20sectional%20appendix.pdf
Can I ask if you had to have the west coast main line north installed in order for the class 90 to work? I have this in train simulator 2016 and it doesn't work
+heydon2012 As far as I know you don't, but I could be wrong. It's best to refer to the product page on the AP website which will tell you everything that you need.
ive not seen any of your learning routes that are using trains and scenarios and routes from dovetail games only they all seem to be either reskins or AP and not everybody can afford to purchase stuff from AP it would be nice to see some of your learning videos using just dovetail products and would be great if you do workshop routes using only dovetail products i know they are not as good as other places but it would be nice for those who cant afford to purchase from other sources or don't know how to download other source products and are only use to the dovetail products
There’s plenty of them on this channel. That being said, DTG often mess up the sounds and physics on their trains. Take for example the Class 150/1. It sounded terrible, and the handling was a joke. The AP enhancement pack made the train driveable. There’s no way I would drive such an unrealistic train on this channel without the AP pack. The aim of this channel is realism, so I use whatever is available to improve that realism in my videos.
why tell us when the London Olympics took place when all know when they took place and yet shortly after Stratford station a line branched off to the left on your left hand side but you didn't tell us where that line was heading towards which i would have thought would have been a bit more important to know than the Olympics its just a small observation on my part
This is one of my earliest videos where frankly I was still finding my feet and not sure what I was doing. The Olympic Park certainly needed a mention, but at the time I probably either didn’t notice or didn’t know where that line went.
In real life I have never ever been on a Norwich train that has gone straight into the platform at Liverpool Street right back to steam days we always but always have had to wait usually in the approach tunnels every damn time, can somebody enlighten me as to why this is for god sake, on a much lighter note very impressive video although l nearly missed the electrified spur(seldom used) off to Fenchurch Street Station anyone ever travelled down this line?
chrisg1947 I'm assuming that it's a case of waiting for a path into the platform. I've not taken the spur onto the Shoeburyness line before, but I have travelled from both Liverpool Street and Fenchurch Street to Southend in the past. The journey from Fenchurch Street was back in the days of Class 310s and 312s! XD
I'm not sending anything again. I'm also not going to tolerate abusive comments towards me on this channel, so I am now going to delete your insulting comments. It's not big, or clever, or funny.
Just started watching these videos and there's something strangely calming about them

Again a great Route Learning video. My compliments for using various types of rolling stock for your episodes. This makes it all very interesting!
Harmen Bosma Thank you Harmen :)

6:05 I love this tunnel! Every day I get on a train to London, I always go through the tunnel! Nice video 👍

The great railway simulator how things have changed from the first one that came out. they just get better and better
+Kevin Robert Hayes I completely agree! I can't wait to see what the next generation train simulator brings us :)
I've had this route for a while, but it fails to load all the time. Crashes etc. Everything is updated. Love the video.

You forgot the ETS, all the passengers are in the dark
+GraphiteProjekt I know I did! I didn't realise what the ETS was at the time, but I know now XD
And the passengers had no toilets, no air conditioning, no heating and no buffet service due to no electricity
I enjoy watching your videos and very handy for learning the routes for the future as if want to be a train driver for the future, it's a good start. I was wondering what you use to zoom as I see, you are able to zoom out more than default in the cab. Cheers and keep up the good work!

+PTGRail I am working on Westerfiled to Saxmundham. Will proceed with track constructin to lowerstoft.

whats the jt extension called
Please upload more love your videos
Thank you Nathan, there are many more to come :)
The lag you experience seems to be specific to this particular model and colour variation. There's a particular scenario which features it which is impossibly laggy despite me getting good fps on the same route ordinarily.
+Si Rose I don't think it's the train itself as much as the AI which can cause serious lag on this route.
I see. Yes, you're right. There's a particular scenario which runs incredibly slowly that features this particular loco at rush hour.
its because the GEML Ips-Liv is stupidly under-optimized. if that makes sense. even with no AI or anything, when you enter Liv St, it lags like hell.
Thanks for your comment :)
it's fine now I think I got it sorted looking forward to some more, thanks and sorry.
Was hoping you would stop at Chelmsford! :(
+MarkTraveller Ahh sorry, that wasn't in the timetable. I do have other videos where I do stop at Chelmsford however :)
Chelmsford station 38:30
Great Video
Your facing points at Shenfield are actually trailing points.
+Robert Langford I usually mix the two terms up lol XD
Just compleated an extention of ipswich to norwich on the route. If you want to do a vid on it please let me know.
+Sven Svenson Where can I find this extension? I will happily take a look at it :)
I have not mad it availble I am trying to upload it to workshop. Just putting the finishing touches to it.
You forgot to mention the DLR at Stratford
Hey I would like to know if you could help me out a bit, so after doing all the pre trip setups for the train I still have a continuous beeping sound in the cab, would anyone know why that is?
You have to press the E key or the numpad enter key to disable it
ok thanks will do
I always thought that Southend was called Saarfend by the locals.
It is

Edit - I just found an old Sectional Appendix from 2009 which only allows the 90mph on the EMUs, so indeed the addition of the cl 90 is a recent thing
***** Ahh I see.. so the Class 90 is now allowed to go up to 90mph? :)
PTGRail Yes, at least since 2013
I will remember that for the future. Thanks :)
In my case, the signal not only doesn't let me pass, it crashes the game if I look to the left.
Just made a vídeo of that on my channel.

I meant that did you downloaded it or you used cd for train Simulator 2015.
+Yiannakis Panayi I downloaded it from Steam :)

We're can I get download this route from
You can get this route from Steam
It's called the GEML London - Ipswich.
come hai fatto fare il dowland pk io nn ci riesco me lo puoi dire
1:07:07 as soon as you passed it the signal aspect changed to red
shelby3024's Commenting the signalman do that because if a train comes straight after that train it would crash if there was no signal
Why you say "Was build bettween 1997-1990" i am confused.
I'm saying that between 1987 and 1990, 50 of these locos were built :)
Can you get this simulator on Mac?
+Steven Rees Unfortunately not at present - it's only available on PC.
Download and install wine from wine hq .org I think then you can run the train sim exe

+Yiannakis Panayi What do you mean?
+ PTGRail you replied to me and I can't find it send it again
I'm not sending anything again. I'm also not going to tolerate abusive comments towards me on this channel, so I am now going to delete your insulting comments. It's not big, or clever, or funny.
+PTGRail Well said.
